I never thought I'd see a worse attempt on goal than heskey
I was wrong
after the player showed some class to create the chance for himself too

Floodgates open, 4-0 now. That's better than Vietnam's 3-0 result against them, crucially.

5-0 a pretty respectable scoreline in the end masked some woeful finishing
pretty good creativity in creating a lot of chances
good in 1v1 attack and defence
Had more structure in defence than previous years but would still get carved up by a good team

The scorers so far are Birkan Kirdar, Tyson Savas, and Noah Botic. I've seen those names pop up quite often on this thread, they look to be the most noteworthy of this batch of players so far.

4 goals in the last 10 minutes. Is this a sign we've solved our fitness issue at these tournaments?

Clearly have change the positioning of the back four from the vidmar days. Our full backs don't push as high which used to leave us exposed on the counter more so than now. Vietnam will be a different challenge but a draw will see us through unless Vietnam smash Mong's.

+x+x+x+xWhy is finishing and even the final pass so poor at all levels? Its de-ja-vous again from a fortnight ago with the Socceroos. im starting to gather the ntc spends little time on finishing Also a lack of creativity also, I don't see any of youth teams with any sort of decent creative play i.3 3rd man runs, wall passes, any many rotations between each other too. hmmm they seem more creative to me Its just sometimes we have been troubled especially in previous AFC tournaments when teams stay deep and compact we struggle to break through, the individuals are ok its just the team model wasn't strong enough in creating more meaningful chances. Then again it's not easy breaking teams down especially deep block ones so they did well today, we just have to remember better teams won't give us the same space or time on the ball either. When the going gets tough we see them lose their patience and often get caught in counters, an early goal will help them.

So what was the formation? It couldn't have been Postecoglou's formation.

+xU20's v Qatar Sunday 2am AEST hopefully there's a stream. where is this info? how many games and who is in the team..? The 20's are more important IMO than the 16's playing at the moment but there is no information anywhere about the squad. I only found a note about a camp in perth?

Really great experience for the boys selected. Info should be out by the game unless FFA takes the weekends off (highly likely). Most boys same as Perth squad. Some unable to play from injuries/age hence some new names and face. Quite a few young boys (16/17) as far as I'm aware which is great for them, youth development and the future!!!! I also thought Talay was a better coach than Vidmar and De roo and should have been in charge of a national team rather than assistant... Will be interesting to see what he can do with these young lads.

Why hasn't been a squad announced yet for the Young Socceroos tour? Poor form from the FFA.
Anyway, if someone finds a stream available hopefully someone can upload it, its great our youth teams are playing these kinds of tournaments again its something that helps us a lot going forward into the AFC stuff.
The last group hardly got any sort of tournament play and suffered as a result.

Also agree with you on all our points you've made.

Edit - Sorry I thought you were talking about the U16 squad playing already.

If they won the FFA would be on it straight away! But seriously it's disappointing they haven't bothered mentioning the squad list or what kind of tournament it was.

FFA has been a little slack of late. Without these forums and info from supporters, and people in the "click" it would be anyone's guess as to the schedule of comps, teams selected, scores, etc. It's poor form. Today's joeys game is important. https://mycujoo.tv/mongolia-football-federation?id=9368

It ain't that hard of a job.

Is there a team sheet with the players numbers and names on it anywhere for the Joeys? Would like to actually know which player is which. Thought number 8 was very good against Cambodia, same with our left back number 17 though he looked a bit nervy at times. Would be great to be able to put numbers to names.
