Golden away goal. Commentator has no idea. He said Juric and then Leckie had scored

This alone is a massive objective completed. Mentally it's very advantageous.

What a time to break his drought : )
Leckie will just carve these guys if given the chance out wide in the second half.

Yellow Milligan. So unnecessary when we only had 30 seconds to go and needed to hold the ball

+xGolden away goal. Commentator has no idea. He said Juric and then Leckie had scored I remember an English commentator on bet365 (not sure who he was employed by, could have been a host broadcaster) during a Socceroos match against Asian opposition who just went on about when he saw a kangaroo at a zoo when he realised he didn't know anyone on the field. We don't know how fortunate we are to have Simon Hill who not only has his vast Australian football knowledge but also the wisdom to do some pre match research against even the most exotic opposition.

Any info on who risks a suspension? Milligan must be near the number required?

+xThis alone is a massive objective completed. Mentally it's very advantageous. Exactly. Syria's task across both legs just became twice as hard. If we get one more tonight then Syria need to score three unanswered in the return leg, which is a colossal undertaking to say the least. The ball is in our court.

Daniel Garb @DanielGarb Kruse's touch may have been off at times in the first half but his runs have been excellent. Stretching the defence at will. #SYRAUS

thank god ange has finally seen reason. makes a bit of a difference playing with 3 up front rather than one...who wouldv'e thought. Has obviously given players a licence to play balls longer than 10m too. Finally we are starting to see the roos of 2 years ago again.

Keep the clean sheet at all costs and force this lot to come out in the 2nd leg.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Socceroo's should get another goal, I think a 0-2 win here can seal it.

Front 3 of Kruse Juric Leckie is strong
Mooy and Milligan also good combination
Behich at least knows his role and balanced offense and defense in the correct balance Risdon on the other hand was a a huge concern. Just not tracking back (not to mention several poor touches) and seems to lack any real speed or endurance for his role
Our prolonged search for a RB/RWB continues. It is strange,. given our previous long search for left sided players that now we at least have options there but no options at RB/RWB

Highkick what game are you watching. Kruse runs in behind are brilliant his been in behind 3 or 4 times. It's his touch tonight that's aweful. I think we have been pretty good. Mooy has been popping the ball around awesome. I just wish when we win position in midfield mooy would look up. That's how kruse has score most his goals for Bochum. That turnover is when we should be looking to get in behind instead of winning the ball passing it back to our fullbacks who then goes to the keeper..... but come on boys. Let's get behind them

That goal was all Leckie, kruse has been pretty good all game, Ange did a great job with formation this game, we are super open in midfield but Syria isn't built to capitalise and I don't think anyone is having a bad game so far. Though risdon looks a bit shaky in positioning.
All my controversial opinions so far.

I think this is why Risdon and Behich are on the field for this game ... if needed they can sit deeper and have more defensive nous than the usual suspects. Syria really not asking too many questions though, and from goal kicks you can see that both Behich and Risdon drop into the back line. Whereas usually Leckie and others sit more in the midfield for such set pieces.

(so of course next match will be dropped for smith).

+xYellow Milligan. So unnecessary when we only had 30 seconds to go and needed to hold the ball He put himself in that position. He jumped ahead and got caught badly on the turn. Yellow was the only option to get out of it. Overall unncecessary but it's done.

Hopefully we play it smart the 2nd half, don't give them the chance to counter us and we should be able to get a 2nd playing as we have done. Syria aren't that good if that half is anything to go by.
