New CEO announced mid-morning today is the plan.
And Eric arrived last night but apparently wants to know why it's called the "sunshine state" lol.

Was do you know what the whole issue was?
  Are people actually being paid?
I remember someone saying Ross was moaning about the Roar not paying his toll. Which is a bit rich when so many don't do it for their staff.

			    @ lolitsbigmic
As far as I can tell, bearing in mind the whole truth may not be getting told, as far as I can tell there are no major financial issues behind the scenes causing this unlike previous ruptions.
Two things seem to be at the seat of this - a breakdown in relationships/personalities and a total lack of sponsorship which means the bakries have to put in another million plus this season.
I think it's been handled without tact and diplomacy and given what's about to happen today (only 48 hours later) I would have thought we could have done a transition without the need for all the crisis headlines in the interim.
See what you think later on ..

+x+xCan confirm 2 COE boys (midfielders) have joined on scholarships. Few others are trialling/in the NYL/NPL team.   Who are the two players names?   Bryce Bafford (AM) and Jay Barnett (DM) both signed scholarships (www.brisbaneroar.com.au/news/roar-sign-duo-scholarship). Kai Trewin (CB/DM) is also from the COE but not on scholarship right now. Anyone know what Akbari is on? Surely a good enough talent to merit a scholarship but yet he hasnt been listed.

bit of a weak start to the season by the roar as a whole but a real silver lining is corey brown
could corey brown finally be coming good? His defensive output has improved out of sight but his passing has been a bit sloppy.
If caletti can improve in defence (so far an ok start) without losing his composure on the ball he looks a real player too

			    @ gazorblade
Caletti has had an okay start to the season but his defensive positioning cost the second goal against City and the equaliser against Adelaide. It's not an ability thing just lack of experience which he'll only get more of by playing more.

Agreed grazorblade. They don't play enough competitive football 15-21 to get their positioning right. Be happier when TK is back, hopefully next week.
Wondering what the crowd will be like today after the weeks events, perfect weather for it?

FOOTBALL Federation Australia has more confidence than ever before in Brisbane Roar’s future under the ownership of the Bakrie Group.
A-League boss Greg O’Rourke flew to Brisbane on Tuesday to meet with Roar chairman Rahim Soekasah, managing director David Pourre and chief financial officer Faisal Arief Subandi.
“It was all very positive,” O’Rourke said.
“I’m more confident that I’ve ever been before in the direction of the Roar under the Bakries.”
O’Rourke said his belief stemmed from the Roar’s plans for an advisory board as well as the presence of Subandi.
Apart from being CFO, Subandi will be Indonesia-based Roar owner Nirwan Bakrie’s overseer of the club’s operations
A-League boss Greg O'Rourke believes Roar are in safe hands. Subandi is likely to spend eight months a year in Brisbane working closely with Pourre, who last week returned to club as managing director following the sacking of Mark Kingsman.
O’Rourke said Subandi and Soekasah acknowledged that a Russian consortium made a $10 million-plus bid to buy the club — as revealed by The Sunday Mail.
“They said they had been contacted and were not interested,” he said. “They made it very clear about their plans and that they had plenty of work to do.”
Despite making the trip to Brisbane, O’Rourke did not meet with the Roar coach John Aloisi or the club’s football director Craig Moore.
Tuesday was the first time O’Rourke had met Pourre.
“We’ve set a course for the remainder of the year,” Pourre said.
Meanwhile, defender Luke DeVere is poised to make his 100th A-League appearance when the last-placed Roar meet Wellington Phoenix at Westpac Stadium on Saturday.
DeVere has had a mixed start to the season.
He was left out of Brisbane’s starting team for their round one 2-0 away loss to Melbourne City, and had a game to forget in Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Brisbane last Sunday at Suncorp Stadium.
DeVere wasn’t the only Roar player to struggle against the Jets.
Teenage midfielder Joe Caletti will be lucky to keep his spot, even with Danish enforcer Thomas Kristensen set to miss at least another week with a hamstring injury.
If Caletti is benched, Mitchell Oxborrow could make his first A-League start for the Roar. having had just 11 minutes off the bench in three matches.
The eighth-placed Phoenix are also searching for their first win of the season, with their only point coming in a 1-1 first-round home draw with Adelaide United.

Good to see you again Clive.
It amazes me that people like O’Rourke don’t realise the only people held in a lower esteem than the bakries are the ffa lol

+xCalletti has not had the best start to the season, but fair dinkum, if Oxborrow is a starting 11 player then Roar and the A league are both in strife. Oxborrow is a good young player, he would be much better than Caletti in that position who is struggling badly. Oxborrow is a specialized DM, Caletti an AM. You might be getting Oxborrow confused with pepper, one has talent and the other one doesnt. Oxborrow should not only play on saturday he should have been playing from R1 - had John Aloisi done that BRFC would be on something like 4 points instead of 0 but thats what you get when your coach has no clue

Brown out for up to 4 weeks and no TK for the forseeable future.  Unless Oxborrow is a revelation and Skapetis/Eric start firing, the turnstiles through the middle of the park will remain spinning and we'll have the spoon wrapped up before Christmas.

TK is close to returning, they were targeting this weekend so unless he’s had a relapse he should be back before too long
Put simply Mackay/Caletti is the cause of our 99% of our problems - ineffective going forward and defensively useless. Change has to be made the question is what?
Oxborrow in for either Caletti or Mackay?
  Oxborrow/Pepper in for both??
I don’t get the criticism of Oxborrow though - he’s a good player, talented and he’s still only 22. More importantly he’s s friggin DM when we’re playing two attack minded midfielders there.
The bonus with brown bring out is that Aloisi may finally abandon the 3+1 at the back shite.

I read an article yesterday yesterday with Aloisi stating tha TK wasn't looking likely to be back for a while.  Might have been a 442 article on Brown, I can't remember.
Mckay needs someone screening around him who can defend and distribute, like Corona, Paartalu, TK.
When he's played with another similar player a la Murdocca, Caletti, we struggle.  Oxborrow or Pepper have to be played as this is the season proper and the time for experimentation was the previous 6 months.

			    @ Borstal
TK has been out for nearly 3 months, must have been a bad tear 😞
But change is needed - brown being out will reorganise the back 3+1 into a back 4 hopefully then drop in a specialist DM alongside Mackay and all we need worry about is quality ball in and around the box.

If Kristensen has been out this long, there is no way he can be chasing attackers ,linking defence and attack and finishing games. He can't be expected to be much use except as a substitute for weeks.Even then , he will have to be nursed as well and there is no guarantee he wont break down again. Gameiro,Bowles and Kristensen all long term injury problems. If any of them can make a serious contribution this year it will be a miracle. How many times do we hear players who miss preseason bemoaning that they never could perform at their best all season? So unless Brisbane can find a starting midfielder who can fill the space created by losing Kristensen, this season is a few more losses from being DOA.
Do we have a playoff for ACL this season?

I laughed when you guys signed pepper and he isn't great but surely he would add some defensive strength to your midfield and is at least a bit experienced. Would he really be a bad option while your squad gets itself sorted? When we signed Regan around the same time I was sure he was a useless footballer but a season under Amor and up until his injury this season was even starting to set up attacks and ping passes around. Pepper got some time last season and was signed by Aloisi so whats happened now that he doesn't want to play him? I get that Caletti is a better ball player but it doesn;'t seem like that's what you are missing right now. Ideally you want a DM who can both defend and set up attacks but having ome of each is an ok compromise. Maybe even Pepper and Caletti in that case? Or is McKay undroppable?

To be fair the little Pepper has played he’s done well, Aloisi would use him off the bench to stabilise the ship when we were holding on to a slender lead. Not great with forward distribution but solid in defence.
Even if he is fit though Oxborrow is the superior player and comes with decent distribution.
Some of it comes down to Aloisi’s selections though - why hasn’t Oxborrow started? Why when we were 1-0 v Adelaide did he put an AM on instead of Oxborrow at DM?
Will he change anything for Saturday?

Agree on Mackay - it’s been very unusual for him as he’s actually a very good passer of the ball.

			    @ Mr. B
That miss against Victory - that was Maclaren fault. He was first to the ball but missed it giving Mackay a nano second to adjust.
Mackay passing accuracy this season is 84%, last season 82%, boy this season his mis passes are in his defensive half and it’s hurtong.

Mackay passing accuracy this season is 84%, last season 82%, boy this season his mis passes are in his defensive half and it’s hurtong. He still misses them with more than a nano second to aim for the goal.  :laugh:https://www.a-league.com.au/video/mckays-shocking-acl-missMind you he did earn a little respect back when he scored in the final against Victory, which then lead to Broichs cracking header later. But I put that down to luck, you are bound to score one eventually when you miss that many. Stats can be a little misleading, the misses I seem to remember are simple passes but are big turnovers, ones that nearly cost us a goal. Should have retired last season imo.

+x+xPart of the problem has also been how terrible McKay has been so far this season.I have never seen him hit so many poor passes. If he cant pass the ball and he is calling the shots. What hope is there when turnovers result in attackers charging at human turnstyles ,him and Caletti.JA really needs to rethink them as screeners. I though McKays passing last season was horrendous, I'm not surprised he is getting worse. I can't remember the exact games from last season but on several occasions he couldn't even pass 1 - 2 meters. Ever since that miss against Victory, he has been on my shit list, never forget.   It seems to me that ,whereas in the past we had Broich playing as a link between McKay and the Forwards, we now lack that and the mids are passing too far forward from too far back  .Too many long balls along the ground that seek to be miracle passes to feet. I think JA has got them doing this to speed up transition but very few players here (or overseas) can do that with any consistency . Those sort of passes are very very hard to do as they allow the defence too long to read their path and intercept them. This happened so many times last weekend.  Holman should have been the "Broich"  link last weekend but he is allover the shop so is hard to find ( he also has the 1st touch of an elephant so loses many balls that do find him). We definitely did transition too slowly at times last year but you don't speed it up by cutting out players with longer passes...you do it by passing more quickly between the normal channels.
