@ miron Mercedes

That transition out of defence, basically being in the right position to recurve the first pass, was something petratos did very well for us. Holman doesn’t seem to see this as his job as a consequence the transition is poor. Regretting more and more getting Holman and not keeping petratos.

Holman keeps getting put centrally In front of McKay nad Caletti.Yet he is too random to play there. His best attribute has been his running and pressing game.I never considered him the scheming passing type. These days without peak fitness he is hot and cold and all over the place.
Petrat despite his limitations was a reliable player, who could hold the ball, keep to a structure and pass a ball.He provides a lot of composure for The Jets.
If things to continue to head south we should start to blood some more youngsters.I see little value in watching a bunch of older players who will more than likley be gone next year.I can't see BKF,Maccarrone or Kristensen here next year and McKay,North and Holman would be struggling for another year.Who knows with Avram P.
It looks like a complete rebuild and maybe with a new coach.

Avraam is a keeper. He’s still young for a CB.

And Maccarone is a pleasure to watch this season but yes, along with Theo, North, Mckay and TK most likely gone.

Do we even have a strength and conditioning coach or has JA got his eyes closed and his fingers in his ears?

Surely it’s time to take Theo out and replace him with Young? We’ve had 12 shots on target against us this season and 9 have gone in

I was thinking the same thing, only overshadowed by it's time to move the Aloisi's on. Effective immediately.

Pathetic exhibition during a lucky draw.

I feel the problem is emanating from ross. However, john is ultimately responsible. Just a huge elphant in the room that needs to be address. Quite frankly john needs to have the balls and make the change or his career is gone.

Have to agree on Ross, every good coach has a good assistant and that ain’t Ross. Some fans have also got the knives out for Ross after his display of petulance before the Adelaide game. That’s got a bit to run this season I recon.

But I just don’t see the club having even a brief conversation over John. He’s just started a three year contract as well.

Theo is johns pet goalkeeper but it’s costing him points. But he can’t see it.

The three CB thing is a mess. He just needs to watch Fox’s half time analysis to see what everyone else can see but he’s too stubborn to see.

Up front though he’s been proved right on FBK, as a 10 he’s come into his own and ran that game yesterday but John being John he’s playing Holman out of position and he is playing shit. Drop him to the bench. And Maccarone looks the goods and has proven the doubters wrong.

We’re at the usual place with JA - the seasons started, the Cup is over, and we’re dropping points for fun with a promise “we’re on the right track” ... he is a frustrating coach.

Roar weren’t lucky to get a draw yesterday, Nix were. Nix managed just three shots on target all game and they all went in. After the 17 minute point they didn’t seriously threaten Roars goal apart from one header and from about the half hour mark appeared to sit back and defend the lead.

Aloisi has got problems (and all of his own making imo) but the second half was dominated by Roar unlike the first half which, goals aside, was pretty even despite Fox talking Nix up. 60% possession to Roar, they hit the post twice, they should have come away 4-3 but didn’t.

Yes it papers over the cracks with Aloisi but in this one game - he was unlucky not to win.

What makes you think that  ? Unless you have inside info it is just speculation . Unless any of us have intimate knowledge of what players are thinking and seeing we have absolutely no clue what is going on or why things happen the way they do.

I would think if things don't start to click in the next few games JA is gone. As for Ross ? I have no idea of his exact role or how he performs it so it is hard for me to blame him for anything at present.
....but from the outside...we appear less fit than other teams and I don't know why considering the extremely long pre-season. We appear disjointed all over the field. Individual players who have been good in the past  are playing poorly...the question is why ?
From what I can see as a typical fan looking in from the outside , we have been playing poorly and seemingly without a plan or style of play. That doesn't mean there isn't one....just that it isn't evident .
Our recruitment is sketchy. Maccarone is doing what he is paid for , Buatheac .. too early to tell. FBK ...ok yesterday but ordinary previously.Gameiro .....why ? will he ever play again ? Kristensen....great when fit ....when will that be and for how long .Oxborrow....played well yesterday in a poor team. Skapetis...looked good early...sketchy since.

JA is on borrowed time now unless he gets us gelling very soon.It isn't impossible . Adelaide were poor early on two season ago as they adjusted to Amor as a coach. Then won it all . Maybe the Roar are still adjusting to their new players and JA's "style of play" (whatever that is ).
Time will tell ....and JA does not have a lot of it left .

He infuriated the Den, it’s posted on their FB page, he came across pregame while they were setting their banners up and told them things behind the scenes were f*ked, fans were being lied too, there were money problems and things of that nature. By half time it was all over the Den who were in two minds as to whether they should stage a second half protest.

The MD at the time denied it all but by Monday he’d been fired and clearly there were some issues. But Ross/Den/Fans won’t see eye to eye again - made worse of course by the fact Adelaide did to Roar what we’ve come to expect Roar do to others. The questions post game were all about what state of mind the coaches and players were in??

I suppose the fact that we were 3 goals down might have had something to do with the aching attempt of a comeback.

The way the ball fell for the Roar to score at least 2 of the goals was lucky or at best opportunistic. Not overall encouraging and smells of a cellar dweller season the way it's going.

So much for Aloisi's poor excuse for a terrible preseason.........."as long as we're ready for the start of the season" lol

Don’t disagree with your sentiments. I was hoping Aloisi would shake up his back room staff over the winter but all it seems to be is a revolving door of support staff.

The Roar comeback just papered over the cracks. In open play Brisbane managed only one goal .The Nix goalkeeper wasn't up to it and let them back into the game along with all the Nix players who thought they could relax and just defend the lead.
The Roar still has all it's defensive issues. The fact Nix failed to do any serious attacking in the second half just hid the fact Roar are pitiful in defence atm.
You cant win games with pitiful defence.Ask CCM.If you concede two goals or more a game you can't win. This has been Roars form throughout preseason.Last season they got thrashed too many times. What was their ACL defence like?MV flogged us.Perth flogged us.
This has been a recurring problem and hasnt been fixed and is unlikely to be fixed with the current coaching.
Can anyone imagine Arnold allowing his team to perform so miserably for so long?
It's clear the problem lies with the coaching staff and JA is the head coach. His attention to detail is non existent. When he should be worrying about the 1percenters to get wins and avoid losses,he is lost is a sea of unfit players, new playing systems and a motley crew of players not adequately covering each playing position or playing style.
Any wins the team gets while JA is in charge with the current squad, can only come from the perseverance of the players themsleves, despite the handicap placed on them collectively by the decisions made in preseason and what JA now does each game .

Ingham came on playing LB and made a huge difference, mainly because North as LB was beyond terrible. But does anyone really believe a team like SFC targeting him wont create a lot of mistakes?
Will JA continue to play a psuedo three at the back with a LB moving higher ?If he doesn't will the players be able to adjust in defence ?Will they know where to be in transition? Will they know what to do in attack.?
Then there is the midfield.Who will be there and what will their roles be next week? Will they be able to defend, hold the ball and set up attack.?Will they know their individual roles?
I have no idea. When I watch play, I still struggle. The poor players must be as frustrated as hell.

This is not a formula for winning games. To get anything from here JA has to go back to basics and dumb it down. But i doubt he will.

I'm sick of the pro-Aloisi crowd in the Roar supporters groups, urging to be "patient and give it time". The writing has been on the wall since our loss in the Prelim last season, our horrid form in preseason, terrible recruitment and a heavy defeat in the FFA Cup. We play the worst brand of football in the league, the Aloisi's can't see past their own egos and make genuine changes within the squad. The days of Theo, McKay and North are over.

What “pro-Aloisi crowd” and in which “Roar supporters group”??

Even before this seasons start I’d say JA is easily the least popular coach in the clubs history, the dim and distant past might throw up a competitor but - for whatever reason - he hasn’t been popular with a broad spectrum of fans from day one.

There will always be those people who blindly praise everything the club, coach and  players do, even when they deserve the shit they are getting, There is nothing wrong with that of course but there are some who like to think they are superior supporters than those who like to criticize the team or coach.

I saw it after the game, people calling out those who ripped into the team at half time after a very poor display, it was quite funny actually. Somehow they think that comeback would change any of the feelings those people had towards Aloisi and where the club is heading in general on and off the field.

It was a great comeback from the lads, but that does not change how many still feel towards certain people and players at the club.

Yeah, I read that too (that’s the BRSC forum right?). By half time the posts were pretty frantic but by full time there was a lot of virtual retribution going on - where I struggle with it all is they try and force you in one extreme - everything’s all bad and the sky’s falling and you’d better agree with me or everything’s going to be great and don’t you dare say differently or else.

The sites kinda turned in to troll-land lately though, no matter which side you sit on you can cop personal abuse beyond normal banter. There were two blokes offering to meet up for a fight in Suncorp Stadium on there a couple of weeks ago - can’t remember how the discussion started but it was something trivial lol.

Thankfully, unless you oppose pro/rel on this site the abuse is rarely personal 😜

Yea, pretty much social media in general has become a cesspool, but it has been like that for a while now, all people like to do is argue and troll just for the sake of it
You can guarantee after a loss you will get opposition supporters crying about this and that, looking to cause trouble. Roar social media has not really changed, even back when we were winning silverware there were just as much many arguments going on, its always to the extreme on one side like you said, but most of the time I noticed it was silly, stupid things and if you don't agree with them, then you get the insults and threats

Pro/Rel will fix everything :D

The Facebook one with about 3.5k members, there's a general sentiment of "no whinging, support the team," which obviously I understand but I think that we're past at this point, action needs to be taken.

He was unpopular for good reason, his previous A-League stint was famously tumultuous. I think he gained a level of support through his recruiting of JMac, a fan favourite, and our ~relative~ on field success. That being said, we've never looked in real contention for the league since the days of Bes and peak Broich. I think that the cracks have been papered over for the last two seasons. Obviously Aloisi has been put in a tough situation with our owners, but these results aren't new - it's been months since our preseason games where we really struggled.

I know what you mean, that forums turned into a dogs breakfast over the last few months.

I watched Adelaide last night, wanderers today, and you could see how they’re trying to play. With Roar under Aloisi this season it looks like they’re kinda making a style up as they go along

For me Aloisi’s got no excuses - this is his squad with a record spend on salary, and it’s the same training pitch we won three titles on, the owners are the owners so he just needs to get on with it.

And if he’s look at what’s going wrong it’s not that hard to fix it.
