And co-incidentally they were all PG AU NJ and BR were all broadbased clubs.

In fact my recollection was that PG were the model for what would follow, but very different to what was the norm in the NSL.

This song explains everything for  you

Don't really care if established NPL clubs join or not.
Things i would like to see though:
1. As many professional players as possible across the teams joining. The only way to raise the standard long term for this country is to have as many as possible players training full time competing with each other to make the first team and win the cup. This also includes coaching
2. Areas that have been burned by the FFA, or have tried at the A-League but didn't quite make it at that level that time, but have the support to be given a go. So, that means, Canberra, Woolongong, Geelong, North Queensland, Gold Coast. FFA is commited to big capital cities only, so this would give the rest of the country a chance. I don't care if they are created clubs, or clubs made by merging existing clubs. The next Rogic needs a more local professional option. That way they have a bigger financial base and greater chance of stability.
3. Some sort of TV coverage, even a 1 hr weekly review at 10.30pm on sbs on a wednesday night. To build support and buzz, sponsorship and long term sustainability it needs this
4. Some kind of transfer system so that these A2 clubs can act as development clubs and can generate income by unearthing the next Mooy or Miligan. It seems at the moment a lot of NPL clubs charge huge amounts for youth training to hold up other parts of the club, this needs to change.
5. Long term pro/rel. I get that right now the current A-league clubs will move heaven and earth for it not to happen. Even if there was a A2 champion vs A1 wooden spooner play off without consequences it would be a good start to see how the leagues talent is comparatively and set a precedent for pro-rel later on.
6. Some sort of standards for clubs to have in terms of grounds and youth academies etc. These are prospective future A-league clubs, they need to start to act like one a bit at a time.

This is the profile picture of the South West Sydney FC (SD Raiders) Facebook page.

They have up a new picture now

No automatic alt text available.

Keep on hearing that Australia can’t afford a second division.
My thoughts on that are simple. NPL clubs have survived for 60 years without any support and will survive another 60 years without hand outs. If clubs believe they can fund a championship team then it’s no ones business except for the committed volunteers who run NPL Football and the fans.

The internet says Gino Marra is MD of that company, director of SDSFA and was on the steering commitee for AAFC. Thats all good. Its great to have people who invest their time and money into such ventures.

So yeah, they will most likely be The Lions for sure. Not such a big deal to me. I wish they would have kept green, red and white like Raiders for it though. Considering Roar and Lions FC  both use orange and blue. People here might complain it would be pushing, what I assume is, Italian heritage so perhaps for the best.

Yep I have no issues with that. I liked the idea for SWS of red and green with a Waratah flower in the badge similar to Blackburn Rovers.

It's good to have business people in the game like that. People underestimate the potential there is.

In Tassies example, South Hobart always gets mentioned and understandably so, but looking at Hobart Olympia there president is George Mamacas who is a professional poker player and his good mate and fellow professional gambler is David Walsh, who also owns MONA amongst other thinks. MONA had the shirt sponsor for Olympia in the FFA Cup.

One would assume they would already have enough financial backing to play in the Championship.

It's exciting times ahead.

It looks horrible but you get the idea what it could look like. I just put a green and red filter over it. I would like a concept like "Green Lions" as a appose to just Lions. Blue Lions are a German hockey team.

SInce the proposed league would not overlap with the NPL season, I'd like to see some partnerships between NPL clubs to create rep teams for the new league composed of the better players from each club. Together, adjacent NPL clubs (and NPL2 if strong enough) could stake claims to larger areas for crowd support. The most talented up and coming  NPL players would play year round as they would participate in 2 competitions. This would be great for their development.  The joint entities would find it easier to secure investors and sponsorship, and with a larger supporter base would be more likely to meet a league entry criteria.

These clubs are not interested in partnerships.  That is both their strength and their weakness.

South West Sydney FC is formed by the partnership of MacArthur and Southern Districts.

Gold Coast grassroots clubs have rights in the new GCU.

At the end of the day though if a club is good enough to go it alone why deny them?

Yeah why don't Australia's NPL clubs that have been deliberately smothered, suppressed and ostracised by the FFA and their assorted toadies for the past 13 years have Real Madrid levels of finance & support.  For this reason alone these clubs should be denied the opportunity to progress themselves and the game, forever.

Ok, so:

Real Madrid budget, stadium, players & infrastructure or no A lick entry.

Oh and can't be ethnik.

Sounds very reasonable.

Who gives a shit if the second division fails. FFS, I'd way rather try it and it fails then do nothing and go through the sorry stage we are,

If it works, awesome, if it has issues, we work to make better. We'll never get anywhere in our current state.

That you and your ilk will destroy the only truly pro league this country has ever had, like 6 people pulling a chicken in 6 directions.

Your club and clubs like yours gather their strength not from sharing a common vision with other clubs, but precisely because they do not.  That's why there is so many of them with their own little fiefdoms and agendas, and forever content to retain their "identity" in front of a few hundred paying fans-maybe- and the odd small time Real Estate Agency or plumber sponsor boards.

the ultimate goal of the second division is promotion to the A-league.  Because these clubs didn't meet the metrics ie the $14 mill for a Melbourne franchise, they see winning a tin pot second division as the alternative door in to the A-league.  Even if they play in front of 500 fans and are sponsored by a marble memorials business, they win, they are in.

What sponsors and media that are begging?????? Name them or you lie!

Is it your contention that the sponsors and media DON'T want more teams, increased competition/diversity?  That they would prefer a competition with decreasing interest and continued stagnation..?  What a strange world you live in.
