+x+xArzani has been burned for pace by both Old and Paine for Nix in the semi. Not sure if both Nix players are exceptionally quick? For whatever reason, Arzani now lacks the pace for the wing at elite level, but his ball handling is still high class. Much feeling is that he is should be playing now as a 10. Makes sense. I honestly can't think of an Australian player with better ball skills and vision than Arzani. Number 10 is probably his future.

+xApparently due to our lack of midfield options, Arnie has been discussing with tottenham about bringing Jedinak back from retirement and into the fold again as a player. ...just kidding, but I wonder how he's going as assistant coach and if he's responsible for all the set piece goals they've given up Seeing him on the bench during that fan video of Ange yelling back at the crowd v Man City was pretty funny

+xHopefully both Circati and Nieuwenhof are available and fit for the next Socceroo WCQs. Yazbek apparently has not been playing in Norway. Pertinently, Nieuw impressed me far more than Yazbek in the one game they both played for the Young Socceroos in lead up games to the Qatar U23 Olympic Qualifiers. After watching the game against South K in the Asian Cup, it was depressing to see the Socceroos comprehensively outplayed despite the result on the scoreboard. This doesn't happen at U23 level between South K and Aus ATM. We need more rapid ball circulation, or ball movement, from the Socceroo front 6. A lot more of the players in the Socceroo U 23s can move the ball more quickly than the senior Socceroos - Nieuw, Jake Hollman, Valadon, Youlley, Segecic, Teague, Robertson, Brook, Ivanovic, Toure, Jelecic - come to mind. There are probably more U 23s I can't think of ATM too. Yazbeks been playing Started again last night and starting pretty much every game

Folami has the same issue but more pronounced - nothing enough pace for the flank.

+xhttps://inside.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/menUkraine jump both South Korea and Australia. More pressing is Australia is now 0.06 rankings points off South Korea. That seems incredibly close but I don't now how the calculations from the final 2 qualifiers would work. Provided both Korea and Australia win the final 2 qualifiers, then Korea will stay ahead - they will gain more ranking points / lose less ranking points by winning / matching results than us due to having higher ranked opponents.

Georgia win on pens and it's so 2005. Just wow. Bedlam. Commiserations to Greece as the Euros is a special thing for them. Georgia led early in the shootout then missed one but recomposed. The joy in the stands is a nice football story.

Pens it is. 05 feeling this. It's been a tussle and Georgia meet with their destiny while Greece will be so desperate to make it.

+x+xNotice how we don't miss Leckie, Boyle and Mabil? We’ll miss Leckie against big teams. He was too good off the ball. Hard to replace that when you’re up against top top opposition. I suppose so but he's really starting to fade away and we haven't had him in the side for ages. He even withdrew injured against Mexico.

Lots of drama. Georgia host Greece. Israel missed a pen to equalise and ended up losing 4:1 to Iceland who'll face Ukraine after two late goals to beat Bosnia. Wales host Poland.
Greece Wales Iceland please.

HT in Europe. Greece will play Georgia as they're 4:0 up against Kazakhstan. Poland up 1:0 against Estonia who are down to 10 men and the same bracket sees Wales 2:1 up against Finland. Iceland winning 2:1 in Israel while Bosnia Ukraine goalless.

Just mental. Georgia now lead Luxembourg 2:0 but that wasn't after Luxembourg went up the other end to make it 1:1 only for the goal to be cancelled out by VAR and a red card as Georgia had been fouled while bearing down on goal.
