Gersbach starting in the cup. Get in! It's on DAZN with English commentary. Not sure who DAZN buys to broadcast off but the French league and cup actually has quite a lot of coverage in English.

Possibly Bein as its broadcast here on Bein via foxtelnow.

Gersbach's Lens into extra time against their 3rd div opponents. Finished 0-0 after 90 mins.

Gersbach still on. Saw him getting a translation of a coach's instructions from his teammate.

About to go to pens.

Hard to imagine the opposition is in a relegation position in the third tier here in the quarter final, and that this is their home game (but not their stadium it seems).

3rd last team from the 3rd division wins. First team from the Vendee to even make the quarters. They only made it to the 3rd division in 15/16 for the first time in their 96 year history.

The 2nd last team in the 3rd division is up later in another quarter final, funnily enough. These were the only non League 1 teams left.

At least Gersbach did his part.

Mitch Nicholls off to Persela Lamongan in Indonesia. Hopefully that settles those family reasons for cancelling his Perth contract.

Here's his new stadium in Google street view.

It's an Average. Nicolo Barella has probably been the most highly rated young Italian in the last couple of years and he became a regular in Serie A at 20.

Even he was playing at the bottom end of Serie B with Como at 19. He was playing alongside Brillante.

Good measure to compare Ikon is his old teammate Keita Baldé Diao who is the same age, same academy... except Keita is now one of the best young strikers in europe. If you aren't playing regularly at 20 you need to come home or start playing regularly at a level you can handle. Too many kids happy to sit on the bench. Ikon is 3 years behind everyone else in his age group now.

Terrible penalty but nice through ball before it.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

shows how difficult it is these days to cut it in italy

perhaps that shows piscopo is doing pretty well too

Just looking at these young Aussie lads in Italy trying to make it. As a coach, my opinion is that the most important point that you're looking at, even in lads up to 21 these days, is "rate of Progression". Piscopo and Armenakas, both great players, have seen their progression slow right down in the last couple of years. Pennington is the opposite, his progression this season has been exponential.

Italian football is very deep in terms of talent and to be cutting it in Serie C at 18/19 years old and developing fast suggests he's worth a watch.

Sainsbury's new club Grasshopper went down 2-1 to FC Zurich in the Cup 1/4 final this morning. No lineup on FotMob but the Grasshopper website mentions a back 4 without Sainsbury's name listed. Still yet to make even a match day squad in the handful of league games he's been available for. If it continues in this vein much longer it's gonna be a stretch for BvM to pick him for the March friendlies. Concerning to say the least.

He had surgery on his groin last November, but I thought he was recovered from that? Either way if he's not playing due to injury or simply not being selected it is concerning this close to the WC. He will be underdone.
