+x@ Jonsnow I’ve been told a couple more have been re-signed, a couple have signed from other A League clubs, and they’re waiting for a visa player overseas to accept their offer. They’re doing stuff but it will be a while before we peasants know what’s what, but from the back here’s the unsigned players now (ignoring some of the kids):HingertBowlesPepperBrownFranjicNorthMckayHolman FBKOxborrow Maccarone On contract:YoungAvraam DeVereKristensen Caletti Bautheac O’ TooleHenrique I'd assume they're pushing hard to have Ivan re-sign. Can definitely see us re-signing Pepper, Bowles. A maybe on the rest for me but I think we'll re-sign McKay and Hingert. Possibly Holman as well. I'd die if we re-signed Maccarone or FBK.

@ BRFC92
I was heartened when I heard they were waiting on an overseas player, that means at least one of Maccarone/FBK is moving on. Like you, I think it needs to be both.

Jono, there's still time for us to steal one of yours for a change.lol I would take Burns for Holman.Hariej for McKay . What we then need is a striker and playmaker. Hopefully the new visa player is one of those.

Pleasant surprise! I'm very hopeful that now with Pedj Radinovic with us, we will have an upper hand in signing players and contact management. As someone mentioned, Hiariej from CCM would be great, but his contract expires at the end of next season. So unlikely we will sign him.

I’m not sure of the logic but mariners seem willing to release players early eg Storm Roux off to Victory a year early. So you never know.

We should be looking to stack the first team and use mostly younger players to fill the squad out next season since we have no ACL to worry about. Problem with signing McKay/Holman etc is they would expect to start games and they aren't really up to it anymore imo, and on the bench they take away a young players chance to improve. We need multiple midfielders and definitely someone capable of playing at DM when TK is inevitably out injured next season. Young Hingert(Ivan)-LDV(Pepper/Bowles)-Papa(YT)-OToole(Franjic) TK(YT/new) Caletti(YT)-New CM(new/Akbari) Eric(YT/Leck)-New ST(YT)-New W(Fish/YT)
Something like that... I dunno. We need a heap of fresh blood imo and the average age of the starting XI much closer to 26.

Brisbane playing their 350th A League game on Saturday apparently, the first club to reach that total. Hope it’s a bloody good one.

For what it is worth, to pass some time, i just worked out the table and finals series with every single team repeating the results of the last game they played against that team. For Example, Brisbane got zero points against West Sydney because they lost last time they played. It meant that ultimately, Brisbane lost to West Sydney but overtook them, when they drew with Adelaide And Brisbane actually limp into the finals in 6th spot. Interestingly, Brisbane would then go on to beat third Placed Melbourne City and follow this with a win over the top team Sydney FC. Leaving Brisbane with a Grand Final against Newcastle, which they would ultimately lose, although given that Newcastle seem a different team now that they have lost Nabbout and that since that time they have won only won game (against bottom team wellington) and they have been outclassed and thrashed in their last three games (assuming Perth continue tonight's route), it seems safe to assume that Melbourne Victory will knock them out of the semis. This means that John Aloisi will have masterminded the ultimate upset when Brisbane repeat their win over Melbourne Victory.
Any chance that this might happen?

Waaaaaa-ay to much time on your hands there bender 🤪
Seriously though, anything could happen - the inconsistency in most teams is shocking

Need to beat Wanderers now. I don’t fancy going to Perth in Round 27 needing a draw.

I recon that was our best result tonight. My reservation with Aloisi is always complacency and excuses - he seems better with his back to the wall.

@ Waz. We’d probably be better off if we needed to win a game than draw one.

Agreed, and that’s what I mean. We really need to win today to avoid going across to Perth next week with a high level of uncertainty and nervousness
If we win 1-0 today then it would take a 4 goal defeat next week to displace Roar.
Goals are our problem, we can’t buy more than two and rarely score more than one (any chance we could snag Taggart??)
Personally I don’t care about just making finals, being 6th and getting knocked out in the first week of finals is pointless but I’d rather the Season didn’t end next week (just one more week before the long, long winter begins)

Umm, no. A 4-0 win would see there’s improve by 4 and ours worsen by 4.

If we win by a goal today then we would have -4 goal difference and Glory -12.
So next week a 4 goal victory for Glory would put them on -8 and move Roar to -8, Glory would move ahead of Roar on goals scored.
I recon Glory would fancy themselves to win by 4 goals even if it was 6-2 or 7-3 ... remember last season? And we’ve only scored 3 goals once this season so they will believe they can win and win well.
Roar need to get the job done today.

Looking good for 8th at this point of tonight's game. The thing that sucks is, had we been spending the season blooding at least Akbari and O'Toole (healthy for ages just sitting behind Franjic) and come 8th, I'd feel better about it. But we are old, slow, predictable and just genuinely shit and there looks to be no light at the end of the tunnel. We are also in the bottom two of the fair-play table, so we aren't even being good blokes on the pitch. You can blame all sorts of things for our performances, but we honestly have played like a bottom 3 team this year and that's where we will probably finish. If any of "the boys" get re-signed I'll be very disappointed. Hingert or Franjic and Pepper or Bowles. Nobody else really deserves a new deal tbh. So to everyone else, it should be thank-you and good luck with your future endeavours. Shame is, McKay is definitely getting a new deal despite being awful for 2 seasons now, otherwise I'd imagine he would've been given a farewell match like Theo.

After all the huff and puff, everything is as expected at the start of the season.Even with their best side,Roar were never good enough and one of the slowest oldest and most unfit teams we have seen for a while. Brisbane will finish 8th. Rinse and repeat next season ,I guess.
