+xWas hoping we'd avoid an African team this World Cup Haha. Bring it on. Lets take it to them and also limit the damage if it goes pear shaped.

8pm kickoff with SBS coverage starting at 7pm. France are a world powerhouse with many big name players. This is the best kickoff time we have ever had for a world cup we have played in. France have never encountered us before at the world cup. Its our opening game. This game is easily one of the most prolific matches in the history of football in this country. There should be relentless coverage on this considering the profile of France and the amazing kickoff time should help that. I am so excited for this!

Well the only positive is that we play them first game.Just hope the usual slow start the French have in Tournaments will be repeated this time round. Thinking about goal diffrences it will be a must to not repeat a 6-0 loss. Peru might struggle at sea level.Since most of their games were won in high altitude. Denmark will be tough but doable if we have the right coach.

Bloody hell they have a young squad and their youth side wins have paid massive dividends. Just gotta take it to them and prepare.

Juric, McLaren, Rucka, Kruse and Troisi start goal scoring practise cause they will definitely score but will we? Near misses are not good enough. France will score at least 2, if we play great, but Socceroos need to score 2 and get away with a draw.

+xPetratos double in 2-1 victory. The score is 1-1 with 2 mins of regular time left, Australia win a free kick from a long way outside the box and Dimi Petratos steps up to take it, what could happen?

I hope the new coach gives the likes of DeSilva and Petratos a go and consider Burns.

Suppléants :- W. Ben Yedder- K. Coman- B. Costil- M. Debuchy- L. Digne- A. Lacazette- A. Martial- A. Rabiot- M. Sakho- M. Sissoko- K. Zouma
Standby list ain't too shabby. OK lots of names there who are a little unfortunate. Interestingly their side isn't exactly too experienced at international level compared to a number of our players getting a decent quantity of caps of late. Might mean little or perhaps a lot. Denmark has already stated they're aware of our recent tournaments being pretty valuable.

Their standby list would beat us 6-0. We’re gonna get reamed.

Great thing about football. It’s not won on paper. I think we are in with a good chance.

We’re not the worst team going to the World Cup so I don’t see why we’re talking ourselves down. Saying that France are my favourites for the cup

+xGreat thing about football. It’s not won on paper. I think we are in with a good chance. Do I detect some hopeful positivity? Wrong forum my friend. Just more whinging about Cahill, the lack of pro/rel and the salary cap by bluebird and 3rd grade memes by Buggalugs.

+xWe’re not the worst team going to the World Cup so I don’t see why we’re talking ourselves down. Saying that France are my favourites for the cup Gotta look at the group. We're clearly the weakest of the 4. I'd love to make it to the round of 16 and if that's the case, we should minimize damage from the French and try and get results from the other 2.

On paper is this the best French team ever? Their second team looks better than most the other countries first teams in the world cup.

+xOn paper is this the best French team ever? Their second team looks better than most the other countries first teams in the world cup. Gotta be close. 1998 would be up there surely: Zidane, Pires, Viera, Lebouf Descahmps etc.
