I wish BVM were staying on too. No problem with what he did v France, Denmark he was too conservative but I get that, tonight he sent the wrong team out imo. But with so little he’s done okay and with more time he’d do better.
I’m not optimistic with Arnie I’m afraid, Aussie coaches seem to play favourites too often and Arnie will be the same. For several years now we haven’t picked our best team and it is costing us.
Bye BVM, unfortunately in the end you were to the Socceroos what Frans Theijsen was to Roar

+x+x+xPeru 4 shots 2 goals.Australia 14 shots 0 goals. Can’t blame BVM for an entire teams inability to score. People managed to blame Ange perfectly well. Ange had 4 years Ange got goals from open play in all his major tournaments coached

Strange subs for me. 3 attackers for 3 attackers makes no sense. Down 2 nil take jedinak off or risdon. Cahill has made a impact since coming on. The other two poor. Bert got the subs so wrong

/Victardy with exception of the last Thai game, Anges team created fuck all chances whilst always being vulnerable at the back. BVM has shown just how poor Ange finished up.

Makes me feel a bit better that we would have been eliminated even if we won....this place would have incinerated if we had won but the other game ended 0-0

+xforeign commentators saying we have controlled the game but can't believe how bad we are at finishing I think most minnows of asia are better finishers than us we really need to get in some good foreign youth coaches to teach us to improve our finishing because its painful defending well and creating so many chances yet looking like baby giraffes in the box Could have helped if perhaps Rogic got a chance from the spot. The bloke is literally our best striker but they still haven't watched him play in Scotland

Biggest disappointment about this tournament was, if we weren't planning on actually making it through, why didn't we drag Troisi along with the hopes of someone actually wanting him so victory can drop him for next season. At least that would have been a productive world cup.

You guys wondering where our striker is......we've never actually had one that performed for the NT. Our goals typically come from midfielders and wingers but usually just don't come at all. Remember for the London Olympic qualifiers we didn't score a single goal in qualifying. That's the group we've had to draw on from the last couple of years.
We will get one someday. Probably.

"A brave disappointment for Australia" Ned Kelly was a brave disappointment. Burke and Wills were a brave disappointment. The ANZACS were a brave disappointment. Our entire country's sense of pride is built upon brave disappointment. Fuck right off... *Edit* Thank fuck Foz is talking sense. Listen to this!
There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

+x+x+xScoring goals in open play for us is becoming like winning on penalties for England. Now watch England go and win this whole Cup on penalties... Actually my pick. Defence is a bit of a shambles but the big guns have all been shit and the poms have no pressure on them now. Could be the year. I'm 1/4 English so come on the 3 Lions.... that explains your positivity and realistic expectations.

OK sometimes you just don't score, but we can barely get a shot away! Not just in this game but the other 2 as well! We really have to be more attacking and less risk averse or we'll never score. I don't think Bert's ultra pragmatism and almost pathologically cautious approach suits this team at all. I'm so glad he's leaving. He simply didn't understand his players.

+x+x+xNo world cup for Luongo. Just devastating. Leckie Mooy Jedinak Risdon all exhausted. BVM fucked it today. Get a grip mate, simply not good enough when it matters. Who? Loungo? I think he'd have made a bigger contribution than Jedinak today. No the whole squad are not quite there when it matters.

Time to adopt a team for the rest of the comp.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Alright, any bets on what the mainstream media will spin as excuses? 1) Peru offside goal/cheating 2) We dont like sokkah anyway 3) We battled hard and went down valiantly in defeat 4) BVM is to blame for not playing Cahill/not playing the Strayan way 5) Our best athletes play other sports so its ok to be shit at sokkah
Anything else?

+xNot all bad news for Australia. They are now part of history, as Peru scores their first ever goal in World Cup history. Did you forget about the 3 they scored against Scotland in 1978 ?

Fact is this is our first world cup showing where we havent actually lead a match from opening to last game. Thats not a knock on Bert..we just didnt go for it enough..a few cut backs across the box doesnt really cut it imo. We were never in this tournamemt.

So the dissection begin. Everything that mooy Does in an Australia shirt is benign. Cahill is still offering more than juric and most... and that can just be the heart that is needed to play. Rogic grew over the 3 games. Leckie needs to be a full back. Kruse does more than people think. Risdon tries his guts out. Behich is fine Sainsbury fantastic Arzani... future Jedi... tough
Where are the God damn goals? This is pretty ridiculous.
Way more disappointing than 2010,14.
We need to find players of the golden generation... yes. But more importantly we need to find the attitude that those guys had. Maybe I might welcome arnie into it now.
