+xFixtures are out on Thursday; believe Roar are happy with them. Start at home on the first weekend apparently and supporters Groups have been told to expect a (good) surprise fixture, one that they seem pretty excited about but wouldn’t say more 👍 A-League/NRL double header. We might even get to wear the maroon jerseys for State of Origin effect and they'll put a net on the field goals for us 😂 I actually wonder when the kits will be launched.... Hopefully with some new players pronto!

How much of a surprise can you get from a schedule? apart from venue and time there's not much you can change?

@ BrissyRoo
You can’t criticise Roars recruitment this year though, the squads pretty much intact and the mid year transfer window only opened last week.
On the kit launches, I want to see a return to Orange/Black this season but they do need to find new sponsors for front and back of shirt which won’t be an easy task as there’s a few A League clubs looking. I’d say the kit launch will occur after sponsors are announced (hopefully sponsors are announced 😂) and probably nearer the season start, say September?

Agree, what can you do that’s a GOOD surprise with fixturing lol?
But it doesn’t seem to be the usual double headers and they’re saying it’s something big and unique for Brisbane? the mind boggles but hopefully we know tomorrow
Also there’s one home fixture TBC as well, due to Suncorp being unavailable probably in December or January

Big and unique......? Finally the lost World Round with Clives dinosaurs around the perimeter of Suncorp and plovers disguised as pterodactyls swooping players ? Smith and Warner tampering with the football at half time? NRL players playing in defence ? The mind boggles. But in FFA speak it probably means a night game with fireworks at half time.

Me too. Think he’s a good prospect for DM although I suspect he’s been signed as LB cover for O’Toole
I’d take either O’Toole or Nigro over Brown at LB to be honest.

@ Roarland I would expect so. Not that you’d know if it is with FFA Marketing lol. And have you seen this piss take: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10156387481428536&id=78390538535“I’m just delighted to be out of Adelaide” 😂

I think the surprise was that it is actually a decent draw. no back to back 3 day turn arounds (like there was several times last season) no 6 games at home in 3 weeks over christmas, no ridiculous friday home game followed by a monday home game 3 days latter.
an actual decent draw. i also liked the piss take, good watching. the bakries must have had a good year last year as we havent had any payment issues, no court cases, signings have actually turned up in time. Im waiting for everything to fall apart.

The ANZAC Day game was a bit of a bun fight apparently - Victory and WSW recon they can sell it out so that’s the biggie for Roar to go after otherwise they’ll lose if next season.
It looks like it’s an FFA fixture not a Roar one as such. Meaning the ffa pick up the profit/loss on the game.

First 2 games of the season at home against piss-weak opposition. How exciting. 3 consecutive games away from home in December. Improved?

The middle part of the draw is odd
Victory, someone, then victory again.
WSW, someone, then WSW again.
SFC, then someone, then SFC again.
How stupid?

+xThe middle part of the draw is odd Victory, someone, then victory again. WSW, someone, then WSW again. SFC, then someone, then SFC again. How stupid? The draw never makes any sense. barely any home games at the start, with a string at the end. Then that weird MV, SFC and WSW thing. Then the good ond stupid round one and two derbies. At least the big blue and MV v AU games are spread out like they should be. I still never get why isnt round one just the GF replay. Round one is big enough without a derby. Spread it out. The only thing with the roar scheduled i hope they do well at the start otherwise there going ot be no one at the games when we have the majority of our home games in the 2nd half of the season.

I just found out about that January TBC game as well.
There’s a concert bumping in to the stadium, at the moment the date is blocked out but Roar/Suncorp are negotiating to have bump in moved back - if not the game moves.

Interesting that Taggart hasn't played yet. Wonder if his fitness from Perth wasn't up to scratch?

“Brisbane Roar hoping for annual Anzac Day clash at Suncorp Stadium” BRISBANE Roar want an ANZAC Day A-League match to become a permanent fixture at Suncorp Stadium. In the 2018-19 season draw released on Thursday, it was revealed that for just the second time in the 14-year history of the competition, A-League football will be played on April 25. The Roar pushed hard for hosting rights, with Football Federation Australia rewarding them for their effort by scheduling an ANZAC Day clash between Brisbane and Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium. Matches between Western Sydney and Perth Glory, and Adelaide United and Melbourne City were played on ANZAC Day in 2015, when April 25 fell on a Saturday. But next year will be the first time an A-League match is played on an Anzac Day falling on a weekday (Thursday). Roar managing director David Pourre intends to turn the match into an occasion similar to AFL and NRL matches played on April 25 every year. “We’ve got big plans for that match,” Pourre said. “It’s an opportunity for the whole code and our club to properly support the day and honours those who have served Australia and New Zealand.” And if all goes to plan for Pourre, it won’t be just a one-off ANZAC Day game hosted by the Roar. “I’ve booked Suncorp Stadium on April 25 for several years to come,” he said. As previously reported by The Courier-Mail, the Roar open their 2018-19 A-League season at home against Central Coast Mariners, who are coached by former Brisbane mentor Mike Mulvey, on Sunday, October 21. The season starts on October 19 when Adelaide United host Sydney FC at Coopers Stadium. The venue for the Roar’s home clash against Melbourne Victory on Tuesday, January 15 is yet to be determined. Pourre hopes the match will be played at Suncorp Stadium, but at least one concert at the Milton venue in January could yet force the Roar to move the game to a different ground. https://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/football/a-league/aleague-fixtures-brisbane-roar-hoping-for-annual-anzac-day-clash-at-suncorp-stadium/news-story/45eaa82decb921e2ab9e5be4179fafaf

On Taggart. Two games gone and he hasn’t featured which raises questions. I watched training a couple of weeks ago and Taggart took part in a full session which was quite brutal (they hardly touched a ball) so presumably he was/is fit and is either being saved for later or maybe he’s finding the sessions a bit hard.

Agree. It’s an FFA fixture with backing from both State and City government, they recon they’ll smash the Roar attendance record for a regular season fixture (which I think is 22,500)
Funny enough MelbCityGuy, City were the preferred opponent for this fixture too (and on an annual basis). I’m not sure why it didn’t happen
