+x+x+x+x+xSome very composed finishing from Irvine there 👌 Bloke is 189cm tall and can clearly finish. I've posited this before, but we could do worse than trying him up front for the Socceroos. Reckon he's more suited for the Asian Cup qualifiers. I'd argue that. i'd be ok with him up front for the the NT. i dont think he is versatile enough as a #10 and he doesnt seem to do the leg work to be a box to box #8 or #6. if you sat him next to a play maker #10 in the front of a middle triangle in front of a solid #6 screener i think he would be best suited. it would have to be millsy, jedi or luongo a the #6. what about alongside Maclaren? both got good engines.. Jackson can get to those headers... etc. then u can play a diamond midfield and use fullbacks for width.. whether that allows the freedom for Azani im not sure... but pressing from the front would be a big asset.. Mooy could be pushed to a wider midfield role and luongo at the base? Either way im keen to see what Arnie does. I was just thinking exactly that, Irvine as a target and Maclaren poaching. Irvine - Maclaren Rogic Arzani - Mooy Luongo

More lose balls , more transition. We have better DMs, however yeah he's an option. He'd be great in the Asian Cup, with those goals. I remember him just about scoring immediately off the bench once. There's just a lot more transition against weaker opponents. But put him on the ball against more organised teams, yyeahhhh. I'm just not sold on his A) Organisation, B) defensive capabilities. Seems to run ragged, run around like a headless chook. Put pressure on him I think, yeah unlike a Rogic, he couldn't hold the ball well.

Irvine could play as a second striker much like Cahill did at Everton. But it limits the creativity we then have, Irvine, Mooy, Luongo would this be an ideal midfield to try and open up teams?

+x+xQPR down 3:0 at home. Luongo appears flat. I think he's on who can get very moody an disinterested. We saw it at the confed cup. Horrible display. I reckon the world cup disappointment added by a useless Maclaren at QPR has dragged him down. Of course he's got to lift himself but we see players dragged down all too much by their set up. QPR appear toxic currently. Astounds me he keeps being given managerial gigs tbh. He's useless. He did get Middlesbrough to a UEFA cup final, won our first and only ever trophy (league cup) and won a league title in the Netherlands with Twente. That's a pretty decent record

+x0-0 in Belgrade. Cagey affair, Degenek was solid. All to play for in Salzburg. I think Salzburg have it. They are a very good team reached semis of Europa last season

Wow. That's a big fee for an Aussie and a Dutch team. Have to be first choice surely?! Shows you one of the advantages of hiring big name foreign coaches... gets our players contracts at bigger clubs

+xJust noticed Czech league is 11th in Europe ahead of Switzerland Netherlands, Greece and Austria. Is that why Plzen got the direct group spot? They've done well in Europe lately. Netherlands and Switzerland have dropped of just a little. Dutch league 15th now on ELO. Below Greece, Denmark, Swiss, Belgium and Austrian league

Rubbish manager getting jobs because of an exception in his career.

Regarding old English styles I'd say yes.

I recall 5:0 scores back 15-20 years ago anyway The top clubs are faring worse in Europe.

That's 3 seasons in a row he achieved amazing results and his 2 seasons b4 that were good too. His entire stay at Boro was an unqualified success . Has definitely had patchy results since though bar the miraculous Twente Dutch league win

Just did some research on Apostolia Giannou as no o e seem to reporting his progress. He played in AEK larnaca's europa league 3rd rd qualifer 2nd leg against Sturn Graz. They won 5-0 to advance Giannou playing til 81st minute not on scoresheet though. They now play Trenchin from lSlovakia. In the final playoff.
Must be said that he is playing at a good club particularly if hey likely qualify for Europa league. Larnaca are traditionally the 2nd best team in a rapidly improving Cypriot league. Both larnaca and even more so Oars APOEL have done very well in Europe past few years. Larnaca in Europa APOEL in champs league

They are not what they were 15 years ago and struggle now on a continental lv. Greek league also. Leagues like Cyprus, Austria and Denmark need to be taken more seriously than we currently view them. The cypriot league is in par with greece now albeit not as many teams. APOEL is the equavalent of a panathanaikos or AEK these days and Giannou's Larnaca equivalent to a PAOK

Giannou's AEK Larnaca playing in the final Europa league playoff first leg. Winner of home and away through to the group stages. Giannou likely starter after playing 81 mins of their last qualifier in the 5 nil victory over Sturm Graz

+xHe's a bloody pelican. He thinks his shit don't stink. :laugh:Milos Degenek was in the center of attention after this match at Marakana, who could decide on the European's fate of this season, but not only because of a good party - but also because of something caught by our reporter on Autokomanda.
The Australian pedestrian representative goes to his home, and we doubt that this is because he does not own a car, or because there is no one to drive it, but because he is a real athlete and wants to use every moment for physical activity. https://www.espreso.rs/sport/fudbal/282815/skroman-decko-sve-pare-salje-kevi-evo-kako-se-milos-degenek-vraca-kuci-sa-utakmice-dok-se-ostali-igraci-voze-u-svemirskim-brodovima-video
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.
