+xterrible off season for us you know things are bad when you try to read transfer rumors for other clubs! We only need to fill two VISA spots. Last year Bart was announced on August 20th and Budzinski was announced on September 18th. We already have one of the best teams on paper, add a marquee visa and a CB visa to partner Bart, and you would be disappointed not to see that team in the top 2.

A few seasons ago I gave up trying to predict how good new VISA signings (for any team) would be. Just got to wait about for a few games. Here is coming here off his best season of his career, playing full games and scoring a nice handfull of goals & assists

Totally agree. Until they play you never know so I’m not writing this bloke off just pointing to CFGs hit n miss with these things.

I think theyve been bang-on with regular VISAs, its the marquees that have been duds. Got no idea if its a different mob of people choosing marquees or what

Either way, both Melbourne clubs squads now look strong, SFCs is taking shape, so it’s going to be a tough fight to see who finishes runners up behind Roar 😉

Bouzanis off on loan to Europe, most likely destination is PEC Zwolle.
Birighitti rumour seems true now.

Victory basically showing CFG the way with Ola Toivonen:
“The (Victory) signing also suggests a gulf in ambition between Melbourne’s two A-League clubs.
Melbourne City, despite the riches of parent club Manchester City, have not made a similar splash in the transfer market this off-season.
Warren Joyce has made six signings, the most recent and high profile of which has been Florin Berenguer, who left French second division club Sochaux.”
Hard to see anything other than 7,000 crowds again this season for City. Not saying the squad assembled won’t be competitive but man, CFG are almost hoisting the white flag this winter surely?

Scored in the WC but other then that his last few years havnt seemed very productive But just as I said to you in another thread, we'll just wait and see. Some obscure VISA from CCM, NIX etc might bag 20 goals with 15 assists, while Ola might only score 5. Who knows?

+x@ MelbCityGuy I get the impression CFG have packed their ball away and wont play again until the A League is independent Honestly i think they are running the club quite well, haven't gotten the big marquees people expected but have built a solid core with an avenue for the youth to come through. I reckon they are waiting for the ACL before they invest in a massive name.

I reckon they are waiting for the ACL before they invest in a massive name. Theyre running it like a business (as clubs should). Low crowds, and FFA clamining most money = low revenue. So they wont spend heaps on players. I was hoping that we would get a slightly better marquee from Arzani's $1m sale. Rather then getting a marquee worth a $600k wage, we get someone on $1.0m-$1.5m.

After beating Adelaide yesterday 2-0, we have kept clean sheets in all our pre-season and FFA Cup games except when we got spanked by Girona in India. With the rumour of De Laet almost signed, that defense is only going to get better.
Pretty good start so far imo

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak says the club's journey "is not complete" despite reporting revenues in excess of £500m last season. City's annual report, to 30 June 2018, confirms they are the second English club to break the £500m barrier. The club reported a profit for the fourth successive season, this time of £10.4m and a wage-revenue ratio of 52%. The healthy financial report comes four months after City won the Premier League by a record 19 points. Pep Guardiola's side also became the first to achieve 100 points and score in excess of 100 goals. Al Mubarak said: "Our journey is not complete and we have more targets to fulfil. We will always strive for more." Chief executive Ferran Soriano added that further progress in the Champions League was a specific focus. City have just completed 10 years under the ownership of Sheikh Mansour's Abu Dhabi United Group.
In 2007-08, their revenues were £104m, less than Turkish side Fenerbahce. Now, only Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United generate greater income than City, who have increased the capacity of the Etihad Stadium to 55,000.
Al Mubarak said: "Most of the developments visible today are the result of a carefully crafted strategy."
