When all is said and done, I am very interested to hear what "punishment" Greenturd is concocting to try and cripple the Dogs.........again. For a person that was once our CEO, there is certainly no love lost. This will not be the last time a team or individual player will hit the headlines for the wrong reason and should they be a pet player or darling club, it will be interesting to see how "outraged" the NRL will feel.

I admit, some sort of punishment needs to be put on the club and maybe even the players. It was stupid on both an individual and club level.

The only way to avoid a hefty punishment now is for the club to act (plant a forest or something) or otherwise..... tip off the media to follow Fifita, Dugan, Ferguson or some other troublemaker and wait for their stuff up to divert attention

Well at least I've got the consolation that West Ham have had a great start to the season ...

Or perhaps that they can't go any lower on the table... :)

My feelings have changed somewhat even though I do not like the drunken behaviour but you can be assured the Telecrap had a photographer there for the duration essentially clicking all the time and out of what I would suggest were hundreds of pictures they got a few damning ones. It was not a public gathering just footballers behaving (very) stupidly in private

Spoken to someone who has been at that pub in that section, no one can see you there, not in the pub or at street level.  You have to get up 3  stories with a telephoto lense.    If the players could be seen by anyone don't you think there would multiple photos from the public?    So all bs that the  public could see them.  All bs that Lewis was helped into a uber seeing he wasn't even there, all bs that Montoya was passed out at train station.

Just the usual telecrap scum with their never ending vendetta against the Bulldogs.  They are the ones who brought the game into disrepute because if they hadn't been so devious no one would have known what went on.

Lachlan Lewis should be encouraged to start defamation action. The club needs to be stronger and whilst not condoning the action of the players indicate it was 100% in private.

One thing the club could potentially sue the paper  for is the misuse of the bulldogs logo hiding the players willy.

The tide of public opinion on social media at least seems to be re-adjusting now that the facts are coming to light.

Most accept that it was a private function 3 stories high at the back of the hotel. The club has held Mad Monday there for the past 4 years apparently and no prior (or current) complaints from patrons, passing children or pub management in the whole 4 years!

Most accept that if no laws broken, no property damage, no threatening or bad behaviour then a private group get together is no one's business but those involved.

Its the Telecrap that have brought the game into disrepute with their underhand gutter journalism and invasive photography.

Yes its a no win situation for the players and club but I sincerely hope that the Club specifically detail, and map, the lengths and methods used by the Murdoch rag and employees to trash our club and players reputations.

It needs to be fully exposed and Rothfield, the photgrapher and other staff shamed for their persecution, hypocricy and biased reporting and the dispictable lengths they go to to drag the game down to sell newspapers.

We must learn from Coffs and stand up for the players if the media are unfairly hanging them out to dry....that buzzard Rothfield even mentioned that in his critisism of Graham Hughes yesterday.

Some aspects of Mad Monday were wrong on the players part. We were niaive to think the Telecrap would do the right thing and not hound them like pervert voyeurs. We have to learn from this.

Yes, I've changed my opinion, the original Telecrap reporting was very misleading.

I didn't completely trust them, but the extent of the fabrication, the out right lying and deceit and frankly the lack of human decency, are honestly staggering, and well beyond what I thought was possible.

It reminds me of an Italian proverb my boss told me "When you point the finger, there are 3 fingers pointing back at you".

This is a very poor reflection on the Telecrap, we know they can't sink any lower as they are at rock bottom.

Tony look into the facts and reconsider this... Elliott had a reasonable expectation that he was in a private unobserved location.

Because we were silly enough to not consider that journalists would go to extraordinary lengths to observe and photograph.

No one was hurt, no real sensible person should even be offended, if he walked down Pitt street naked it might be different.

Other players have down far worse and are still paying, I will not rattle of a list of names as I will get RSI from typing.

Well that's a bit over the top Tony.

But I won't join in blaming The Tele, blaming Greenburg, blaming everyone but us.

It was our fault, it was ALL our fault.

No not a hanging offense, not even a suspending offense IMO, but somebody probably will be and that probably will be Elliot - and that's our fault, ALL our fault.

You can blame The Tele and Greenburg all you like, but as was pointed out by some talking head the other day, the #1, #2, #3 and you can go on viewed stories on the Tele's website were The Bulldogs Mad Monday Story or stories associated with it. So who do you blame for reading it - The Tele, Greenburg? How about US as in the general public (whether you clicked or not). The public reads this sh.t and puts in #1 on The Tele's website with a bullet, so how can you blame The Tele for giving them exactly what they want?

This time next year (or hopefully after GF Day) when we have our 2019 Mad Monday, The Tele knowing that the biggest story they had on Mad Monday 2018 was us, is gonna be all over wherever we go, hoping to capture something that the general reading public has shown that they want to see.

So who's fault is it gonna be next year if we f*** up again, who will you blame then?

This is our fault, we did it, suck it up, get over it, get on with it. DON'T make the same mistake a THIRD TIME.

Well that's a bit over the top Zef.
It doesn't matter what any of us think or who we blame, the fact is that it was a private function AND away from public eye, the photographers that took photos from obviously obscure vantage points with telephoto lenses, were not invited to the function and therefore had no right to even possess such photos. And then to publish them front page in a national tabloid........... It's a wonder the club doesn't sue their ar$es off.

Listen you're wrong with what you think have the right to do or not to do. If they didn't have the right to take those photographs they wouldn't be on the front of the Telegraph.

Deal with the real world not the one you want it to be.

Anyway, f*** it, don't you think even if it was behind closed doors in the club it wouldn't be too hard to set simple ground rules like - if you're gonna get sh.t-faced, just keep your clothes on and your hands off the equipment.

Not that there's anything wrong with that if that's your thing - but how about taking it home and doing there.

Remember they were in pub, you can talk about roped off areas and private functions and all the rest of it but so what? They were in a pub and got their gear off and  handled the luggage.

Like f*** me man, if something's gonna go wrong, anything, it gets worse when you're in a pub and you get your gear off and fiddle with the knobs.

It never ends well.

And it's all our fault.

You are basically right, but see Nancy's post below.

All we did wrong was underestimate the Telcrap's level of desperation and motivation, that is easy to do, because we don't think like they do.

But it is easy to keep your clothes on, or pick a venue where no one can see you with your gear off, or gear off is 100% legal and accepted.

I don't blame the players our players 2000-2004 did far worse, our lot are probably better individuals, and better behaved than the players at most clubs.

But we should learn our lesson, if we were not already paranoid about media coverage of Mad Monday, then we should be paranoid.

It is still possible for the team to have fun and let of steam, just pick the right venue, it not a major drama.

I dont disagree with what you say but if it can be proven that it all happened behind closed doors and the Telecrap went out of it's way to take photos of our guys (rather than in view of public) then I sincerely hope we include that in the report to Greenburg and NRL and cite the Telecrap as "not talking up the game".
Remember..... all Greenburg cares about is the game as a product. He already has had run-ins with Telecrap journos not talking the game up, and he'll be lenient if we can prove it.

Gee Tony .. no one was killed ... no one was bashed ... no drugs that we know of were consumed or confiscated .. no banks were robbed .. no one swore at a nun. no body that wasn't looking though a telephoto lens, or was foolish enough to read a trash newspaper saw anything they didn't want to.

In the meantime someone like Lodge is running around for the Broncos, Gallen is playing for the Sharks, Fiifita and Dugan are also playing for the Sharks...

I assume anyone who was a long term Dogs fan is immune to this crap, we have had worse.

I wish our players would be smarter, but they are footy players after all.

I hope Adam isn't too upset by all of this, he seems like a really good young man, and is done some great charitable work this year. I do think the club perhaps could have used a more discreet venue, i.e maybe go on water or something, I don't know, or up in Blueberry HIll at the league club, I just hope it galvanizes the team for next year. Fire up Deano.

Tony, Elliot f***ed up and he wasn't the only one and indeed the Club is NOT innocent in all this either.

But get your f***in' hand off it.

As you say, Elliot is 24 years old and f***ed up, but in those 24 years do you count anything else Elliot has done representing the club?

When somebody f***'s up, and we all do (and be assured I'll be sweating on you f***ing up in future), what you do is you consider that f*** up and ask yourself is that an example of their character or an exception to it. So which do you think it is with Elliot?

Is this an example of how Elliot's represented the club during his career, or an exception?

Just let him cop his punishment on his ample chin as I'm sure he will and move on like I'm sure he will.
