Trump Watch:

It's gonna be interesting to see how much kool-aid the Trump beta's have to skull to get over Bob Woodward's book.

Bob Woodward - impeccable record, the book impeccably sourced from WITHIN the White House, multiply sourced with audio records.

It reveals that Trump's own staff, appointed by himself, spend most of their time hiding things from him, in one case stealing a report directly off his desk, using mis-direction (hey look over there, shiney thing!), changing the subject - any tactic they can come up with to keep him away from decision making because they consider Trump too mentally unstable to make decisions in the interest of the country. They've come to see their job as to protect America and indeed the world from Trump.

And these are his f***in' people! His staff, inside The White House. They don't trust him.

My favourite story so far released (the book comes out next week) is how Trump's personal lawyer John Dowd put Trump through a mock questioning to prepare him for testifying to Mueller. Dowd played Mueller and peppered him relentlessly and was appalled with Trump's obvious lying and contradictions many times within the same question until finally Trump exploded into a 30 minute tantrum screaming "witch hunt" and all the rest.

Dowd and team tried an unusual tactic and went to Mueller and told him they couldn't allow Trump to testify because he was too dumb.

"I’m not going to sit there and let him look like an idiot. And you publish that transcript, because everything leaks in Washington, and the guys overseas are going to say, ‘I told you he was an idiot. I told you he was a goddamn dumbbell. What are we dealing with this idiot for?’ ”

Later Trump said to Dowd he could testify because "I'm a good witness"

Dowd replies "You are not a good witness"

and adds " Don't testify or it's an orange jump-suit"

Trump still maintains he's a good witness. Dowd says "I can't help you."

and resigns the next day.

Wow! This just hit the press hours ago. Just reaffirms what's in Woodward's book.

You Trump Beta's - when are you going to get it, that the man's a moron, a dangerous moron. Don't believe me? How about the people that work for him every day then? Is there anybody you'll believe apart from Daddy?

Take note - this is from somebody inside The White House, on Trump's staff. Somebody who knows him better than you ever will.

EDIT: I'll add if you note the paragraph where the writer talks about "whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment", I think you can deduce that the writer is not only a "senior official" in The Trump administration - they're one of his Cabinet Secretary's.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/i-am-part-of-the-resistance-inside-the-trump-administration/ar-BBMVtbs?OCID=ansmsnnews11

Editor’s note: The opinions in this article are the author’s, as published by our content partner, and do not necessarily represent the views of MSN or Microsoft. The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process here.

President Trump is facing a test to his presidency unlike any faced by a modern American leader.
It’s not just that the special counsel looms large. Or that the country is bitterly divided over Mr. Trump’s leadership. Or even that his party might well lose the House to an opposition hellbent on his downfall.
The dilemma — which he does not fully grasp — is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations.
I would know. I am one of them.
To be clear, ours is not the popular “resistance” of the left. We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous.
But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic.
That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trump’s more misguided impulses until he is out of office.
The root of the problem is the president’s amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making.
Although he was elected as a Republican, the president shows little affinity for ideals long espoused by conservatives: free minds, free markets and free people. At best, he has invoked these ideals in scripted settings. At worst, he has attacked them outright.
In addition to his mass-marketing of the notion that the press is the “enemy of the people,” President Trump’s impulses are generally anti-trade and anti-democratic.
Don’t get me wrong. There are bright spots that the near-ceaseless negative coverage of the administration fails to capture: effective deregulation, historic tax reform, a more robust military and more.
But these successes have come despite — not because of — the president’s leadership style, which is impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective.
From the White House to executive branch departments and agencies, senior officials will privately admit their daily disbelief at the commander in chief’s comments and actions. Most are working to insulate their operations from his whims.
Meetings with him veer off topic and off the rails, he engages in repetitive rants, and his impulsiveness results in half-baked, ill-informed and occasionally reckless decisions that have to be walked back.
“There is literally no telling whether he might change his mind from one minute to the next,” a top official complained to me recently, exasperated by an Oval Office meeting at which the president flip-flopped on a major policy decision he’d made only a week earlier.
The erratic behavior would be more concerning if it weren’t for unsung heroes in and around the White House. Some of his aides have been cast as villains by the media. But in private, they have gone to great lengths to keep bad decisions contained to the West Wing, though they are clearly not always successful.
It may be cold comfort in this chaotic era, but Americans should know that there are adults in the room. We fully recognize what is happening. And we are trying to do what’s right even when Donald Trump won’t.
The result is a two-track presidency.
Take foreign policy: In public and in private, President Trump shows a preference for autocrats and dictators, such as President Vladimir Putin of Russia and North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, and displays little genuine appreciation for the ties that bind us to allied, like-minded nations.
Astute observers have noted, though, that the rest of the administration is operating on another track, one where countries like Russia are called out for meddling and punished accordingly, and where allies around the world are engaged as peers rather than ridiculed as rivals.
On Russia, for instance, the president was reluctant to expel so many of Mr. Putin’s spies as punishment for the poisoning of a former Russian spy in Britain. He complained for weeks about senior staff members letting him get boxed into further confrontation with Russia, and he expressed frustration that the United States continued to impose sanctions on the country for its malign behavior. But his national security team knew better — such actions had to be taken, to hold Moscow accountable.
This isn’t the work of the so-called deep state. It’s the work of the steady state.
Given the instability many witnessed, there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment, which would start a complex process for removing the president. But no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis. So we will do what we can to steer the administration in the right direction until — one way or another — it’s over.
The bigger concern is not what Mr. Trump has done to the presidency but rather what we as a nation have allowed him to do to us. We have sunk low with him and allowed our discourse to be stripped of civility.
Senator John McCain put it best in his farewell letter. All Americans should heed his words and break free of the tribalism trap, with the high aim of uniting through our shared values and love of this great nation.
We may no longer have Senator McCain. But we will always have his example — a lodestar for restoring honor to public life and our national dialogue. Mr. Trump may fear such honorable men, but we should revere them.
There is a quiet resistance within the administration of people choosing to put country first. But the real difference will be made by everyday citizens rising above politics, reaching across the aisle and resolving to shed the labels in favor of a single one: Americans.

The writer is a senior official in the Trump administration.

I hope Adam isn't too upset by all of this, he seems like a really good young man, and is done some great charitable work this year. I do think the club perhaps could have used a more discreet venue, i.e maybe go on water or something, I don't know, or up in Blueberry HIll at the league club, I just hope it galvanizes the team for next year. Fire up Deano.

Yes, Elliott needs some support and I'm sure the club, fans and his team mates will support him.

IMO Mad Monday needs to be in a remote rural location with a locked gate and security than keep journalists 1KM away, or there is no official club Mad Monday and groups of players just go party in overseas locations.

I'm all for the boys having a party but lets keep the journalists 1KM away and be ready to shoot down any drones, that is what it takes to get privacy in the modern world.

Tony you are a Dogs supporter, so you must be a great bloke.

But I remember you telling us Ray Dib was the future and the club was doomed without him.

You were wrong then and you are wrong about Elliott now, move on mate and get ready to enjoy a great 2019.

While no big surprise, Woodward's book is direct evidence for those in denial.

I'm watching a doco on the Roman Empire, the blokes that trashed that had some idea what they were doing.

America's decline and China's rise is inevitable, but Trump has manage to bring it forward at least 10 years so far,  by the time he is out of office, they may as well melt down the Statue of Liberty for scrap.

Wow are we still banging on about this Mad Monday thing. It blew out as quick as it appeared. Tony, there us no need to attack posters in here, we are all Dogs supporters we should be banding together....... solidarity brother!!!
Here's a scenario for you....... You are at home one Sunday and decide to have a bbq (close friends and family only). The area is secluded (or so you think it is) so you get shitfaced and strip off and dance around etc etc etc.. some ar$ehole photographer from the local rag gets to photograph you (without consent) and plasters it front page with the caption "Tony's wild orgy - neighbours enraged". I am sure you will be as harsh on yourself as some of the comments you threw at Elliott.
Bottom line: the players should have made a better choice at their style of celebrating, the club should have chosen a more secure private venue and the telecrap had no right to invade a private celebration, let alone take photos and publish them. Please lets move on.....................................
come on 2019.........

The press will just use helicopters like they did at Belmore.

The easier thing would just be keep your clothes on and your hands off each others capital assets.

If the worst that came out of Monday was Montoya chundering in the gutter I doubt it would've rated a story and if so would've run out of wind by lunchtime Tues anyway. It was the nude ball tampering that made it a story, the rest would've barely made a column instead of front and back page.

Just keep the gear on and hands off the merchandise - especially if it's not yours.

Helicopters is still something that can be fixed, by having the right kind of indoor location, a big farm shed with canvas tarps and pearl skylights ... but I admit it is getting ridiculous.

As for the 2nd part, ... both of those temptations are very easy to avoid

But if it isn't that, it might be some other stupid thing, the media don't need much..

The chances of a bunch of drunk footballers doing nothing stupid are close to zero, and the Dogs are always the biggest story.

OK that's a hefty fine but, we pay, we learn, we move on. Greenberg has set a precedence, and other teams have to adhere or be penalised whether the venue is private or not.

Comrades, its great to be back.
Des put me on a social media ban for the last 8 weeks of the Supercoach Season, which I believe was worthwhile.
I'm just lucky the Telegraph didn't catch me on my Mad Monday, as the atrocities were unspeakable.
Loved the way the boys played the back third of the season.
HD was right all along about lewis.
Congrats to Villi for taking out back to back SC grand finals. Though I nipped him in the overall.
17th of a 130 odd thousand, #13 in NSW an #3 bulldogs supporter...
Hope you're all great, I'll start catching up tonight.

He played some great footy, a little work for Dean to do with his D still, but I was stoke to see both him and the much maligned elliots performances this winter.

250k!!
Oooft.
The Sharks go over the cap by 100k and the story gets buried immediately yet the Dogs throw an end of season party and get abit rowdy and they cop 250k fine!
NRL is joking arent they?

Can we please just play tonight's game and have some referee controversy just to make the attention go away....now they are trying to implicate Mitch Newton.....

This is seriously out of control....
