I don't know about everyone else but I am so sick of feeling like others are trying to kill my favourite sport and I can do nothing about it ....I wonder if there is someone out there with the energy ,knowledge and connections to organize a mass petition to our Government ....and maybe the FFA as well ? We have the largest participation numbers in the country and get only $4.8million a year ???? WTF ! Thats about $3.50 for each player....well do me a dance !...isn't that a windfall for which we should all be grateful ! I could get some new laces for my boots ...woops .....no they are $4.00 a pair ...maybe next year !!!
...and how dare these morons ( women or men I don't care ..they are all morons...) start trying to sabotage a process most in the Australian football world want to happen. These jerks at Sports Australia knew about these recommendations for months and have only just now come out (on the eve of the vote) and said they don't like them . They also would be well aware that FIFA do not countenance political interference...if they do not.... they should be sacked immediately for incompetence.....but who sacks them ? and who ,for that matter, appointed them ? I didn't .... How about we tell Sports Australia to fuck off and we put player fees up $3.50 per year ...I think I can handle that extra burden !!!!

I'm gobsmacked. Take a look at the board of Sports Australia. It's stacked with anti football people. People who are directly involved with A League competitors like the Melbourne Stars and Tennis Australia. Also a few AFL club directors. Now, the cynic in me wonders why they are commenting on this issue.

This debacle is the gift that just keeps giving. It’s hard to understand lowy’s position, why is he risking so much damage to a sport he claims to care about? Beyond suspicious really. Sport Australia should be keeping their mouth shut, their board has no voice in this matter whatsoever.

Pretty easy to understand why he is doing this. He probably knows he is on a loser and knows that getting the gov involved with get the FFA suspended by FIFA. All parties know this. Probably his last bargaining chip to persuade votes his way. He is scum of the lowest order. Wanting to destroy the game here in Australia just to keep his job. Well, it's not his sport to fuck with like that. He can fuck off.

I doubt FIFA would say anything but it would be interesting if they did.
Hopefully we will have some finality in the matter. It’s been over 2 years...

So at the EGM we either get the congress changes or the normalization committee?

+xEGM booked 2Oct. Can someone dumb down this answer for me.... What are the possible outcomes from this meeting. Will this be where FFA is kicked out by FIFA, or is there a chance a date for any changes will just be delayed again?

I am pretty sure at the AGM a motion will be called to approve a change to the constitution in accordance with the CRWG proposal.A vote will then see if its approved or not.If it's approved the congress will changed at a later date to be set.Everything then follows from that.

if Sport Australia doesnt have Football in the top 12, are they seeking to wipe out the code in this country, only because it is competition to the NRL and the AFL?

Its the end of the Lowys regime hereThe FFA know they are finished. Scorched Earth is the word i would use as they'd rather destroy football in this country than to see it succeed. i hope FIFA employs a normalisation committee in Australia and not allow the FFA the satisfaction of destroying the game in Australia.

I think the motion to the EGM will need to be more specific than just approval of a change to the constitution in accordance with the CRWG proposal. The actual details of the changes to the constitution will need to be voted on for it to have any effect. It will be interesting to see FFV's motion which will now be circulated to the 10 members of the FFA. In a normally operating organisation the Board would give its advice on the motion for consideration by the members at the EGM.

Gyfox, the congress changes appear to be quite specific. So I assume that in some form will be presented for a vote.If that is approved all the dominos fall after that.At what time and what speed depends on how much backing there is for each 'item'? It 's not beyond the realms of possibility that there is a vote for in principle agreement with the whole CWRG report. But clearly any specific resolutions will avoid anyone getting cold feet later. The important thing is to change the congress .Then the recalcitrants are doomed and the majority can approve changes ,as it should be.

We should know by Oct 2 if common sense prevails and the civil war ends. Otherwise suspension from FIFA seems the likely punishment.

Seems to me this has become as many have hinted / implied that this is far more about Lowy ego and loss of influence than anything else.
More over the degree the Lowy's are prepared to push beggars belief.... I never believed they would push to the extent they would risk Footballs future.
Even the Feds holding out don't seem to have the support of their grassroot member clubs, and the chairs of these Feds seem willy to ignore the wants of their member clubs.
To me it seems like 98% want change with even the union and clubs joining forces....
Tis a real pity the mainstream media re ignoring this I would love questions asked on the 7:30 report and the like.

It still staggers me that we could end up being suspended from international competition because of the Lowy's pig headedness...and it certainly appears that the Lowy's run that board (and I say Lowy's because nothing can convince me Steven isn't doing exactly as he is told by Frank )...the question is why ???? It really makes me wonder why they are fighting so hard to stop the Congress findings being passed... there has to be another reason other than they simply think it will give too much power to the professional game. Successful business people are nothing if not practical...they normally know when to walk away from a losing situation...why have they not walked away from this one ? What is their possible gain here ? Curiouser and curiouser....!!! Interesting quote from an article by Bonita Mersiades: link: http://footballtoday.news/features/steven-lowys-resignation-what-does-it-mean"Some sources suggest that the reason Lowy is so desperate to remain in charge until the end of November relates back to the tainted bid for the 2022 World Cup. ASIC regulations require corporations, including those limited by guarantee, to maintain all financial records for seven years after financial statements are lodged. The seven years is up for 2010-11, the final year of grant monies from the federal government, in November 2018. Surely that’s just a coincidence. Isn’t it ? "
