+xThe bottom line is that Greenburg should pull his head in, retract the fine from the Dogs, issue an apology and shame the telecrap into doing the same. If there's any justice but as Nancy says...pffft.

+xDealing with Souths in the same way that they dealt with us just doesn't fit into the narrative that the NRL run with, a script by and large handed to them by NewsCorp and Channel 9. All good stories need a villain and we're it people. In our case there wasn't even a public complaint and yet we were hammered for something done in private. The crime by and large seems to be the fact that we made the front page. In this case there has been a public complaint, criminal conduct has been alleged and Souths have tried to sweep it under the carpet. It has made the front page. Surely any objective assessment would thus brand it worthy of an even greater punishment. Gotta by a million dollar fine if they want to be even partly seen to be consistent. Beattie said they were setting an example of the Bulldogs for any future misdemeanours from clubs and players...this far worse...think of the children (and that poor woman). I hope she has video.

Haven't heard but Greenberg and Beattie better not show favouritism. Already there isn't anything like our front page with DT re pics or naming players. Hope our Admin put some semblance of appropriateness into NRL's heads by comparison to this where a complaint by the public has been lodged.

If we are smart (and able to do this) we will wait to see what punishment the NRL hands out to Souths.

Theres the get out clause, set an example for the future... This matter was before precedent being set so no fine to follow...

I am sure Greenberg and Beattie will come with some "snake oil" bull$h!t to justify the kneejerk reaction against us while exonerating Souffs for their foray.

| | We thought that it was important to write to you regarding recent events as part of our commitment to being transparent with you as the most important part of our club. We have waited until this time to do so as we have been finalising the club's response to the recent NRL Breach Notice. That response has now been submitted. As a club we were disappointed at some of the behaviours that took place at our end of season celebration. We understand that it was unacceptable and a bad look for the club and the game. However, we also need to take stock of the facts around the day and how this situation transpired. Our players were celebrating the end of their season at a private function at a venue that they had used for three consecutive years. The function was in a private area on the third floor and there was no access to the public. This was consistent with previous years. The invasion of privacy that has followed and the subsequent stories that evolved have had a major impact on the individuals involved, their families and the club. What we need to remember here is that these are good people who have worked hard within the community and our club. It is important that we remember this as we deal with the fallout from this situation. We as a club will stand by our people and support them as part of the Bulldogs family. We think that it is also important to correct some of the information that has been reported : * Lachlan Lewis was not in attendance at the event as was initially reported in some quarters * The club attempted to make contact with Jaycar the morning after the event. However, it is important to acknowledge and thank Jaycar for their long standing association with the Bulldogs as a major partner * The report of a GoFundMe page being set up by a member of staff was incorrect We are now in the process of a full review of the day that has included speaking with both players and staff. All parties involved have acknowledged that there was behaviour on the day that was not up to the standards expected by our club and that stronger processes should have been in place to prevent and react to it differently. We will now put steps in place to make sure that we respond to the learnings of this review and have submitted our response to the NRL Breach Notice. It is disappointing that this has taken away from a positive end to our season on the field that offers great optimism for next year. As always we appreciate your support and passion for the Bulldogs. Kind Regards Lynne Anderson and Andrew Hill | | | |

Thanks steve for the post. As far as the club is concerned, what more can you do? I guess we sit back and wait for a response from the NRL. The timing of the reply couldn't be better as the NRL have to determine the action against us whilst at the same time be very careful how they handle the South Sydney issue without bringing their own integrity into disrepute.

Glad they refer to the matter as an invasion of privacy... Surely the matter will be thrown out of court, or charges dropped... Wheres the hitman when you need him?...
I still wanna know what the hell the NRL are going to do re Merrins antics during the filming of what looked like either panthers or NRL promotion. Willful and obscene exposure. Perhaps I need to make an official complaint to the NRL to ensure action is taken...
Then we've got the bunnies, great timing blowing up in the NRLs face...
The silence is deafening @toddgreenburg...
Just in time for off season debate... Maybe the NRL a secretly happy these events occur as it takes the focus off referees, dwindling crowds, the death of country footy, dwindling junior numbers, what will be a $20 million budget deficit by the time the TV deal ends, a salary cap designed to favour clubs that can't produce juniors, a non existent or completely irrelavant pathway to 1st grade... Shall I go on????... (Or go back and edit to make rhyming couplets)... ;)

Hoping someone can helpnme out... I'm not a sma art man but I know....
If you feel violated by someone sending u unsolicited pics of their genitals, why would you go to their employer instead of the cops?
Like if villi did that I wouldn't call his 14 year old supervisor at Wendy's...

Isn't it good to see the consistancy of the NRL how they immediately made themselves visible on tv to condemn the bunnies just like they said they would of any future indisgressions. Jokes aside I can see them try to sweep this one under the carpet, and if they do I would like to see Anderson and co come out guns blazing.

All jokes aside, all my minds eye could see when reading the last sentence was a stage coach robbery... Anderson & co emblazoned on the side of the coach... Regan Campbell Gillard s twitching trigger finger...

The NRL is a joke... Time for Superleague2.0... I expect the next media deal will be worth less than the last and everyone's in for a rude shock... NRL can't even get a loan...

+xIs that James Maloney out there tonight.... or Matt Frawley? Maloney either wins or loses you a game, nothing in-between. Tonight he lost it for them, 12 points because Jimmy's retired from defense. I remember this story I heard yeeeeeeeeeears ago, don't know if it's true or not but it's a good one anyway. The story is that the legendary Puig Albert of The French teams of the 50's had retired from defense too. So much so that when the opposition had the ball (and remember it was unlimited tackles back in those days), Puig would lean up against the goal-posts and smoke a ciggy. Jimmy may as well do that too for all the good he does in the line.

I only saw the 2nd half but the Panthers were the better side.
The winning field goal was dead lucky.
Hard to be disappointed from here on, there is no team left that I want to win.

Holmes should have mopped up when Cleary came through for the try...that was lucky for Panthers and the bunker's ruling had a bit of luck for Panthers as he didn't really round it properly

Still think Ta,ou is a soft player for his build

Hawthorn loss has killed my hopes for finals excitement. They were a tad lucky to make it to 4th and get a double chance but really blew it today having dominated key statistics for most of the game except the one bloody one that counts scoreboard.
Oh well.... Hope they learn about the importance of taking your chances when you're on top.
Now I just have to hope they don't get caught doing nudie runs come monday....
