Getting close to France and England friendlies. October 5th and 9th. Squad should be announced soon...
A lot of recent talk about workload, we could see a lot of players rested and many new players getting tested.

Full backs and the GK seem to be the only change... vs Indonesia.

Kerr's Chicago Red Star losing their NWSL semi final against North Carolina.
Portland Thorns' Ellie Carpenter, Caitlyn Foord and Hayley Rasso will get a big Cascadian crowd hosting the grand final (or whatever they call it) at 06:30am AEST Sunday morning.
I'll be at work but hope to find a stream to watch out of the corner of my eye, will post if I find one, and please do the same if any of you do. Should be a good one.

U16 Matildas smashing hosts Kyrgyzstan in the qualifiers 10-0 despite them keeping it to three goals in the first half.
Final game is against Taiwan who we're level with on points for first place, who also smashed Palestine by a big number but got a far more modest 1-2 win over Kyrgyzstan. A draw would have us through in first, however, but a loss might have us miss out in a best 3 of 6 runner-up qualifiers (or 2 of 6, depending where finals hosts Thailand end up; it might be just two of six due to Thailand facing Iran in their last game) due to the lopsided results in other groups causing similar blowouts.
China has scored 46 goals with 0 conceded so far in three games. Not a typo. But they could still finish second with Uzbekistan who could overtake them in first with a win in the final game, so good luck beating that in the best runners-up standings.

Thanks for that.
Just found out that no equivalent of Premier's Plate winners in the NWSL have ever gone on to win their playoff final in the league's six-year history, which might be good news for Portland despite North Carolina finishing their 24 game regular season 15 points clear of second-placed Portland.

huge step up for u16 matildas in the next round. Need to improve 10 fold to beat Japan, North/South Korea, China... I've watched every game so far... next game should be more difficult than the previous 3. Still should be an easy victory against Chinese Taipei.
Best 11 + subs so far imo.
Bailey-GK (Pritchard, Jones) Wallhead-CB (Douglas) Fenton/=/Nash-CB De La Harpe-RB (Dubbert) Johnson-LB (Illijoski) Malone-DM (Rule) Zois-CM (Farmer, Mckenna) Stamatopoulos-AM Jancevski/=/Morley-RW Jasnos-LW (Hunt) Beaumont-S
I'm sure we will see alot of improvement and roster changes before February.

Mary Fowler hopefully. No guarantee she'll play for Aus. Can still play for Ireland or png. A very good RW, DM and LB were not available due to injury etc.

A full game for Caitlyn Foord and 93 minutes for Ellie Carpenter for Portland Thorns in their 3-0 loss to North Carolina in the NWSL final.

Squad for euro friendlies...
GK Arnold Whyman
DF Polkinghorne Crummer Catley Carpenter
MF Butt Kellond-Knight Luik Sayer Chidiac Simon
FW Foord Ibini Logarzo Devanna Gielnik Fowler
No Williams, Kennedy, VanEgmond, Raso(injured), Kerr
Not sure why they are bringing so few defenders. Maybe catley is starting cb and kk will be playing lb.
Got to wonder why young strikers like siemsen are not getting there shot or new cbs.

Don't like the setup. Clearly stajcic does not trust Crummer at cb yet. Playing her at rb.
At the back, he could have had Carpenter/Polkinghorne/Catley/Kellond-Knight
Not sure why Arnold is still number 2. Campbell is a much more solid goalie.

Way too many wayward passes, very similar to the joey’s in midweek and something we’ve seen before. That’s down to coaching and the temperament of the players.
Not a lot to see today, we were outclassed but hopefully will be better for the experience.

Arnold's parry instead of catchin it cost us the first goal.
Polkinghorne should have closed the space on that second goal. You don't track back and keep distance between you when you have cover beside you.

Wow, we are terrible atm. Shows how little depth we have. Staj has got to stop playing players out of position. Foord looks lost at lb. Makes no sense... Arnold should not be the number 2.

Obviously we’ll take a 1-1 but how we didn’t lose that by 4 or 5 goals I don’t know.
These two games should bring the Matilda’s down to earth a bit - theres no need for panic but it’s a reminder the quality in world football extends beyond the USA and Brazil, and that our available squad depth needs extending, and no matter who is playing we need to cut out the friggin basic turnovers.
