Resolution 1 amends the constitution of the Company to give effect to therecommendations of the CRWG.

These recommendations are to:
(1) create a broader, and more balanced, representation of stakeholderson FFA congress by expanding the number of Members of FFA;
(2) establish a Women’s Football Council;
(3) establish a number of standing committees, with additional reform ofindependent committees and constitutional committees;
(4) implement of a four year cycle governance review;
(5) ensure FFA reports in accordance with the International FinancialReporting Standards;
(6) ensure the full participation of women at all levels of footballgovernance;
(7) adopt an “FFA New Member Pathway”; and(8) align the constitution of the Company with FIFA Statutes

that doesn't appear to include the recommended CRWG model

So all reforms passed, at last. New Congress will convene next month and elect a bunch of new directors. A-L working group will produce new model by March, to come in next season. Steven Lowy expected to stand down as FFA chair next month.

"3) establish a number of standing committees, with additional reform ofindependent committees and constitutional committees;"

Why do we need these committees? Seems like an entirely unnecessary layer of bureaucracy and a ridiculous waste of money.

Football Federation Australia’s Board of Directors today acknowledged the outcome of the Extraordinary General Meeting, held in Sydney.

The Members voted on two resolutions.

The first Resolution was to amend the Constitution of the FFA to give effect to recommendations made by the Congress Review Working Group. This resolution was passed, with eight votes in favour and two against.

The second Resolution was intended to set up a process to consider and propose a new Leagues governance model. This resolution was passed unanimously.

Chairman Steven Lowy said while the FFA board is disappointed with some aspects of the vote, it respects the right of members to give effect to their views through today’s vote.

“These are many reasons to be optimistic about the future of our sport and I encourage the football community to work together and act in the best interests of the game as a whole.

Today’s vote means I will carry through with my stated intention not to seek re-election at the upcoming AGM,” he said.

Mr Lowy said it had been a privilege to serve as Chairman of FFA.

“I am immensely proud of what has been achieved, both on and off the pitch.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported the FFA board during a challenging time for the game.

My fellow directors have been thoroughly professional, collegial and supportive throughout.

“Finally, I would like to thank the FFA management team and all employees, led by David Gallop. It manages an enormous range of issues domestically and internationally with limited resources and I appreciate the excellent job they have done and will continue to do for our great game,” Mr Lowy said.

An extract of the Chairman’s address at the EGM is available here.

He is entitled to express his opinion.

Fortunately that opinion was not reflected in the vote.

There is a huge amount of work ahead for the incoming board in a months time.

The most obvious thing that they can do is scrap the cap - likely to happen?

Highly unlikely.
The A-league clubs may get more of a share from the TV deal but it is small deal compared to the other codes.
The Socceroos get paid too much so they should have their matches fees fixed for the foreseeable future but get a 50% share of prize payments for wins/draws in tournaments.
The funds saved should be directed to junior representative and junior national teams.

Hope this doesn't affect Canberra's chance of an A-League bid. However the bid is completely separate from Capital Football who are a pack of nonces. The bid has been actively promoting itself alongside Canberra's NPL clubs who are opposed to CF and the FFA.

The bid and Capital Football are mutually exclusive and the latter has had no input on the bid.

There is a lot of work that the Board and the administration have to do to prepare for the AGM especially in the area of elections so its not the time for having a vacuum.

Lowy said football generates $121m in revenues and 60% goes to the (A League) Clubs. That’s $72.6m.

That’s at least the third or fourth different number that’s been mentioned throughout this debate. If dicks like Lowy can’t appreciate the need for accuracy in debates like this no wonder things are such a shambles.

Anyway, that’s one problem down. The trick now is can we find enough good people to sit on this Board?
