If you didn't know any better you would have thought that Tristan Hammond was Daniel Arzani for the short period he was on.. depending on the stream quality of course... They have a very similar body type and play style. even more impressive is that he's nearly exactly 4 years younger than Arzani.

I've just roughly worked out that give or take 1 or 2, that 8 of these guys were born in 2003 including Hammond. My question here is why not just fill the squad with 02 born kids if they're good enough, or is it simply a skill level thing discounting age altogether? You really must of had a good stream

Ds98, Check out this page for d.o.b. It's the full list. The Aussie wiki page is not filled in. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_AFC_U-16_Championship_squads

South Korea vs India HT 0-0. Can India do the unthinkable and knockout the favourites?

Our defense is the weakest link. The back 4... The keeper, DMs, a couple of wingers and the striker are pretty good.

Hopefully a lot of these boys kick on and begin to get opportunities at a senior level. Botic looks like he's going to be quality.

+xWhat’s the RB like? Any good? No. The guy from Heartle$$ should have been sent off for a studs up tackle above the ankle a la Rhyan Grant.

+xWhat’s the RB like? Any good? still up in the air, that one. Kucharski is the obvious choice, but haven't seen enough of him to make an overall decision on him, (maybe Chondro can help out there), but he seems tactically more aware than Lambiris who played there last night, Lambiris is more of an attacker I think. hence Paul01's reference to the studs up tackle

How many of these youth are likely to get A-league minutes this season? I know some aren't attached the A-league clubs yet. Birkan Kirdar definitely will, he is very highly rated at Victory. He was Victory's youngest ever debutante (in the ACL last year).

The guy who played last night looked lightning quick, I'm surprised his name isn't Gonzalas. The whole game was played at a very high tempo, the more they get exposed to limmitted time on the ball they will develop well and they reacted quite well to it on the night.

Kirdar is the closest but will probably just make the bench at Victory if anything. Don't think anyone else will. But you'd expect most of these guys to be in their respective NYL teams. off-topic -- I did a bit of research regarding the whereabouts of some of the guys who didn't make this squad, and found that Diego Alonso who was at a Spanish academy when this first U16 team was announced. He is now playing at Valencia CF youth. https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/sport/diego-alonso-dreams-of-playing-football-with-club-barcelona/news-story/6481f5db0759254062a86e3e157fc4d2an article on him whilst at WSW.

A.Robertson-Man City youth (England) T.Hammond-Sporting youth (Portugal) A.Hammond-Belenenses youth (Portugal) D.Alonso-Valencia youth (Spain) E.Pavlis-Olympiacos youth (Greece) R.Warland-Fulham youth (England)
Pretty much the overseas contingent the coach wanted to bring in or take a look at.

Think Aydan left Belenenses, according to zerozero.pt and Alex Araujo on twitter. interesting thing is that Tristan was also at Belenenses before leaving for Sporting, so we'll wait and see what happens.

It might have something to do with the club splitting into two. In Portugal, a company can own a football club but the company board and the football club board had a disagreement and split so there's a "Belenenses SAD" in the top flight with no youth teams and the original "CF Os Belenenses" who have restarted in the district leagues of Lisbon. Very odd situation. Saw about half of it, bore the stream ended. There was some pleasing central attacking interplay from Oz.

Decentric, I am interested on your take as to how this group relates to other recent ones in terms of individual skill and tactical awareness. I only saw 40 minutes on an iPhone with a small screen. Unfortunately, my older desktop Mac doesn't load many videos anymore. A couple of the forwards made some penetrating runs, but in general it is hard to appraise this team compared to previous ones in that 40 min time frame. So, sorry, I can't really answer your question properly. In the media Arnie waxed lyrical about them.
