Even mediocre Asian opponents are a step up from the SPL

Alot of our Asian opponents have simply taken the approach to stack the midfield, drop back & tighten up.  Creative guys like Rogic esssentially have very few opportunities to work in when it's like that.

Which is where Rogic's long range shots come in handy. Agree it's hard for someone like him to be creative. Look at the Thailand qualifier at AAMI Park as a prime example.

Exactly that. It's a legitimate tactic as Australia under Ange ( and others ) never really had a plan B except for crossing in from wide for Timmy.   I'm interested to see what Arnie does with the Rogic/Mooy combo.

Pretty much what SPFL teams have been doing to Celtic up until this game it seems. Roberts got into some great positions and didn't miss.

They are quite similar hey. Quick left, good runner, quick in behind and cross. Don't muck around. They will be good for PSV , good LB rotation

Angelino had a great game against Inter in the CL too. Hard to see Behich taking his spot.

Can't see how Behich wouldn't get minutes. They're both exceptional LBs, both that good you could trust each of them to do a decent job. UCL/ECL Cup games etc

FC Midtjylland top of the table on that 3-0 win with Mabil getting an assist.

What a turn around from when he first got there. Seems to link up well with Onuachu (edit: only 1 goal). What a unit up front he is.

Interesting, since Theoharous went to Germany from Victory, his market-value has gone from 250,000 Euro's to 75,000 Euro's...

This is taking an uncanny path towards Yeboah-ism. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. I'm assuming you're going by market value from transfermarkt, which is likely some random formula they came up with for illustrative purposes only. I'm sure it generally trends up when a player starts playing for their first team, but it is less than meaningless for a young player at the beginning of their career. This forum is the only website where I've ever seen anyone take it seriously.

It's a shame, he'd be getting loads of minutes this season as our first choice attacking substitute. Now's he's rotting on the pine in Europe.

We knew it was a Yeboah deal the minute he signed there. Theo is destined to become nothing more than a German 4th/3rd Div player now.

Same as Italiano sadly.

I have just discovered and registered with bet365.com.au for live streaming J League amongst other leagues also. I wish I done it earlier. For Aussie Abroad lovers it may be essential.  For someone who abhors gambling it was quiet easy to register just for the live streams.

There's actually a bit of high level analysis of the topic in academia/business schools.

e.g

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0377221717304332

According to Herm et al. (2014), the judge principle of infor- mation aggregation works as follows. Transfermarkt does not esti- mate market values in a democratic way, such that all user esti- mates have equal value, but uses a hierarchical approach. There- fore, Transfermarkt does not calculate the final market values as the mean or median of all individual estimates but gives a few empowered community members, whom Herm et al. called the “judges,” the final say. Accordingly, judges review other users’ es- timates and select and weigh them when making their decisions, so they can decrease or increase the influence of users they con- sider to be less or more qualified.

So basically, it's bullshite.

He's 18; the youngest player in the squad for Gladbach II.

I think it'll take more than a rating on a website to write him off just yet, for mine.

Cheers for that.

It's even more subjective than I thought it was. A player's real-world market value is what a team is willing to pay for him. It's not as if coaches are gonna look at his TM value and think "well, this kid is regressing, throw him on the scrap heap".

I think if a team signs a striker Jan 30 for 50m you think he's actually woth 50m or is it circumstance?

Thats not an excuse every team that plays man city sits deep, stays tight and parks the bus. Does that stop them? There best places create space and they break down the defence. ROGIC DOESNT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS.. THIS IS BECAUSE IN TGE SPFL CELTIC ARE SO DOMINATE THEY DONT HAVE TO GET ANY BETTER.

@Pala

Yeboah was 19 when he signed for them and look how his career has gone.

Obviously would love nothing more than for that not to be the case. I just think Theo and Italiano going there was a silly choice.

Who said anyone was taking it seriously? hahah I just thought it was interesting that since leaving the A-League, his market value or perceived value, has gone down 175,000. And Victory let him go just like that... Obviously his ability hasn't gone down worth 175,000 euros, but still he probably could have been served better by staying at Victory for another season in a win-win situation where Victory could've on sold him for 150k -300k. And he'd be a better player.

I previously posted about Genreau's value going from 50k to 700k, and no-one seemed to care about taking it seriously or not.

But saying his TM market value went down after moving is like saying "I was talking to a random guy at the post office today and he thinks Theo isn't worth as much since he moved to Germany". If you're trying to make the point that he would have been better off staying, then just say that. TM market value is on the same level as fifa19 as far as realism.

Was it wrong of me to post something related to AA? on AA?

The sole point of me posting his value, is not a denigration on his part, it's to show how just because an Aussie has gone overseas into a reserves team, that suddenly their value is less because of it.  Disregard the whole Transfermarkt thing, ok yes it might be as you say, but there are players  in Theo's team worth 350k (supposedly) who've spent most of their time playing in other youth teams in Germany, yet are worth more because what? they're German?

Theo has made pro senior apps, played in the ACL, played for the YNT's. but is perceived to be worth less. Do you see the problem here?

Then on the other hand you have Genreau, who has gone straight into an Eredivisie side, albeit with a coach who wanted him. And you see he's being noticed.  So the inaccuracies and the perceived value of Aussie players, by other countries is the main point i'm making.

I agree completely. It pisses me off how unfairly rated our players are. They do not get a fair shake and the A League is given no respect at all. It's bollocks.

Strangely, it's also the exact point I was making, and I agree that it's annoying that our players are not thought of as highly as players from other countries, but I'm far less concerned about it in the case of TM market values ratings since no-one pays attention to those values anyway.

Louis Khoury has left Blackburn Rovers due to Visa problems, he has joined 6th tier side Curzon Ashton where he seemed to have settled in well by scoring a hat-trick on debut for the 18's, before he recently made his debut for the seniors in the Manchester Cup. coming on as a 68th minute sub.

https://twitter.com/CurzonAshton/status/1049391577771200513

Cameron McGilp was in Birminghams U23 squad that lost to Crystal palace on the w/e.

Also, I was scrawling around on the Inter-webs and found a Jordan Harrison, on the books of Chelsea FC who has been there for four years turning down Man City. He is an Aussie, born in 2002. That seems to have gone through a private training school in QLD.  His latest Insta post was in February, playing in a Chelsea jersey seemingly against Oxford, so not sure if he's still there or not... but it'd be cool if he was.

Not sure if he'd already been mentioned on here...

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

A player's market value is what his current club is paying him. It's not more, it's not less.
