By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Milicic can't put good combination put good combination on the park. He's a good assistant coach but a head coach he is not.

My post match thoughts.
My God, I haven’t seen a less-deserved Draw in a looooong time. Freak goal aside, we were woeful compared to Korea and really should have lost that match by a lot of goals.
Milicic - Has anyone ever questioned his coaching ability? Has he ever achieved a successful result as a national youth team coach? Genuine question. He’s been around the fold for so long but somehow has made this talented group of players look like a disjointed mess.
Atkinson - Should stick to RB. I rate this kid extremely highly but he looked lost at sea all evening in midfield, finding himself out of position almost constantly and running around like a headless chook most of the match, not to mention being a turnstile defensively allowing Korean players to breeze past him. Again, I think he’s a hugely talented player but just looked really out of position.
Delianov - This guy is a talent. Calling it now, he’ll eventually find himself in the Socceroos. Saved our arses countless times tonight. A very, very good goalkeeper.

Delianov man of the match. Saved Milicic’s arse tonight. Cannot understand why he chose to put Atkinson in at midfield absolute rubbish. Theoharous had a shocker as well. Cant get my head around Milicic’s team selection.

It seems we might have turned a corner with performance of our youth teams. Normally we get rolled after going behind against teams like Korea in the last 10 or so years.

Watched replay
The problem I could see is the defence. They look rigid and lacking in confidence. Midfield and forwards showed enough. Thought Theoharous created trouble with his turn of speed. Like his confidence on the ball. Thats the type we need to keep brining in front third. Great goal, and yes keeper was fantastic. Lots to be confident about.
Can also see that the average Korean and Japanese 18 year old more technical than our average. Something to keep working towards..

I would say the aussie boys have come along way within in the technical side of the game compared to say around 10 or 15 years ago, Japan and Korea are known to be very strong in this area for a long time.

Performance wise it wasnt that bad, they played some good stuff and worked hard they just lacked the final pass in the box or decent shot when they had a chance, at least Najjarine showed how its done without any hesitation, this kid will be the next big talent after Arzani, mark my words!
South Korea are always a strong side at youth level but i dont think they were particularly any good in this game, they relied on the counter for chances and we got lucky but prior to that they did not pose a threat on our goal.
We have to remember this squad is also depleted with a few lads not available due to injury or not available for selection, such as Arzani, Genreau, Grozos, Tokich and Italiano.

What do you mean “they did not pose a threat on our goal?” If it wasnt for the brilliance of Delianov we would have lost 4-1. As for missing players like Tokic, Italiano etc we had Metcalfe sitting on the bench while Milicic throws Atkinson, a RB into midfield! Milicic’s team selection was poor.

Maybe milicic thought of Atkinson as one of our strongest players and wanted to get the most out of him in CM where he’ll be more involved. Also at 19 years old, players positions aren’t so rigid yet. I’m just surprised no Iredale. Maybe next game.

Your opinion and I respect that, but, Atkinson struggled and Milicic shouldve either replaced him or moved him to right back. When there were dedicated midfielders sitting on the bench it seems strange Milicic didnt make changes. If at 19 years old “player positions arent so rigid yet” who else played out of position last night??? No one. It makes zero sense As to why Milicic would make this vital change in such a big match.

On a side note, Credit to Melbourne city, they are certainly helping the development of these footballers. Also, they seem to be doing the right things with youth development. Najjarine looks class

Still incredibly frustrating that every player on the team had to take 3-4 touches, see if there was a pass available, take another touch and only then consider shooting. It's simply not good enough, We could have actually had some shots on goal if our boys could hit the ball first time, or after taking one quick touch. Najjarine the only one who did, but he took a few poor options and touches after coming on too.
Our defence was slow, uncoordinated, and getting ripped apart time and again by the precision and speed of the korean attack. Up front Stametelopolous never looked like scoring or taking a shot. Got in one or two good positions but was way too indecisive to just drive towards goal and shoot. Iredale may be younger but he's a finisher, exactly what this team needs. Doesn't matter if he hasn't played senior football yet.
Delianov was good, but i think the keeper in our u16 team Adam Pavlesic will be our next Socceroos goalie. He's a great shot stopper, commands his area and has excellent distribution. Good to have multiple prospects though!

Joyce said that Najjarine was ahead of Arzani until he did his shoulder in last season. Will be interesting to see him this season.
