South American world cup qualification begins this week. AFC is usually done first but we've lost 12 months.
The 2022 WC simply won't be put back to the following June but maybe by 12 months.

Fair enough. With Japan fielding an all European team I thought who would be in our all European team for a friendly.
Ryan Degenek sainsbury souttar behich luongo jeggo Leckie hrustic boyle ruka
Arzani off the bench and John iredale off the bench too to cap him

+xAgree John. I’d still have sainsbury degenek as my top two followed by deng and souttar in third and fourth. As for fifth and sixth I’d love a Dylan Ryan to kick on. He was impressive for the Olyroo’s and is young and looks classy. The issue is the fullback positions. The two best RB’s at the moment would still have to be grant and risdon. I know Leckie gets mentioned a lot but I don’t see it. As for LB you would have to say Smith and behich. Bloody gersbach shits me, go and play a game Alex!
Looking into the future what about a Jordan Lyden or gethin Jones at RB? Then a Callum elder at LB.
Another defender I have high hopes for is ouzinidis at Everton. I know we have all been fooled before by aussies at top reserve teams and doing nothing with it but by all reports this kid is the real deal Can't believe I forgot Ryan. Gersbach is the exact type of player who should be playing every week in the A League instead of what he's doing now. I'm not concerned with our right or left back options. Risdon and Grant have proven they can while Lyden was a talent but has been much better in midfield. I prefer Elder currently. Behich is simply locked in by Arnold as he's part of the leadership group.

+x+xSuddenly our centre back stocks are looking healthier.
Sainsbury and Degenek are playing regularly. Souttar is killing it at the moment. Wright is captain at Sunderland and doing very well. Very exciting is Susnjar will be on TV every week. Deng is learning the trade and will be a Roo regular. Can Good have another solid season?
Are any of those guys able to play at left back? Or right back, for that matter? Not really. We're still way ahead compared to the days of Holger playing randoms at right and left back. I don't enjoy Deng at right back.

In emergencies I'd have no issue seeing a regular playing Jurman recalled or even Dellbridge for certain fixtures.

Atkinson has a big future IMO. At the moment though i honestly think Risdon is playing the best football of his career. He doesnt have the stamina of Grant but is a significantly better footballer

+x+xI may be a couple of years too early on this, but I’d really like to see Atkinson considered for Socceroos RB. He’s been outstanding this season and so consistent - I haven’t seen him play a bad game. Thanks for the update. Really haven't seen many City games. Bodes well to keep Grant and Risdon on their toes. Certainly gave as good as he got from Diamanti in the semi last night. I was impressed with his game up and down the park. He was one of the Olyroo's suspended after the Thailand incident. Hopefully he's got someone in his ear.

I'd have Karacic (playing Europa League qualifiers as I type) and Risdon (who has had a very good season at WU) as my first two RB choices.

+xVukovic Deng - Souttar - Good - Behich Jeggo - Oneill Mabil - Mcgree - Ikonomidis Taggart
Not to nitpick, but Deng is no RB. Definitely one of my top 4 Aussie CBs right now though.

+xCurrent depth? who have I missed? Ryan Grant - Sainsbury - Degenek - Smith Irvine - Mooy Leckie - Rogic - Boyle Maclaren Vukovic Deng - Souttar - Good - Behich Jeggo - Oneill Mabil - Mcgree - Ikonomidis Taggart Redmayne Risdon - Dellbridge - Susnajr - Elder Amini - Luongo Arzani - Hrustic - Goodwin Duke Thomas Atkinson - McGowan - Jurman - Gersbach Dougall - Antonis Kruse - Burgess - Piscopo Rukavytsa Could keep going... I always miss one or two when doing depth. Definitely add Langerak, Davidson, Borrello, Giannou, Petratos and Toure among others. Such a long list and it's global. I still think Giannou is a wildcard who we haven't seen enough of. Solid Asian Cup and the form of Taggart and Maclaren plus our system has kept him at bay. Davidson has made good strides in South Korea. So so unfortunate Ikon got hurt. Asian Cup was a blessing in disguise to see Leckie miss the group stage. I'm just realizing now that Mooy was out too. The team is stronger now than then I think. Milligan, Kruse and Nabbout have thankfully made way for the improved Degenek, Mabil and Taggart.

+x+x+x+xCould set up some interesting camps and get-togethers with our stocks. EuroRoos Ryan, Vukovic, Thomas Cleur, Sainsbury, Souttar, Degenek, Susnjar, Wright, Ryan, Behich, Gersbach, Elder, Smith, Iredale Irvine, Luongo, Rogic, Mooy, Jeggo, Hrustic, Amini, Lyden, Dougall, Duncan, Holland, Kalik Boyle, Leckie, Mabil, Borrello, Arzani, Giannou, Ruka, Folami, Italiano, Bouman, Iredale, Juric, Botic Karacic and Dykes if they're into it AsiaRoos Langerak, Duncan Geria, Deng, Davidson, Herd, Chapman, Lowry, Ansell O'Neill, Goodwin, Duke, Petratos, Antonis Taggart, Waring A LeagueRoos Redmayne, Glover, Izzo, Federici Grant, Risdon, Mourdoukoutas, Dellbridge O'Toole, Rowles, Atkinson, Trewin McGree, Ikon, Genreau, O'Neill, Baccus, Metcalfe Maclaren, Toure, D'Agostino, Piscopo, Buhagiar, Najjarine Add in Teague, Deni Juric, Watts, Francois, Robertson, Charlie Miller to the EuroRoos.
Get rid of Trewin (why would one include him??), Buhagiar, Rowles from Aussie based. Add Brook, Ruiz-Diaz, Burgess (definitely), Courtney-Perkins, D’Arrigo, James, Koutroumbis, Devlin (definitely). Got a bit mixed up with the number of names. I meant to add the other A league based players. Trewin has played enough at U20 level where he should make the Olyroos in future due to the age cap. At the Roar Trewin is the 5th/6th choice centre back, behind Courtney Perkins who is 18 months younger. Trewin maybe has a future as a 6, but Gomulka, D’Arrigo, Devlin, Teague, Baccus and evening maybe Barnett are all in front of him in terms of the Olyroos and D’Arrigo, Teague and Gomulka are in front of him for the Young Socceroos. I personally rate him but the depth for those positions is quite high. Promising list and hopefully we'll have a better ratio of those making the grade.

+x+x+xUsually camps would include 3 or 4 GKs, but I don’t think we actually have any Euro-based GKs outside of Maty and Vuka? I can’t see us calling up the kids in the various English team academies who are yet to play a game of senior football. But I could be wrong. Maybe Lawrence Thomas? Depends if he can get game time Oh yeah for sure! I totally forgot about Thomas. Great shout as he was in the squad for the Korea friendly last year so is definitely on the radar. From memory Izzo was going to be called up for that squad but missed out due to injury.

IMO 3rd keeper should always be a youngster based in the area we are playing so we can get a look at each of them and keep them in the loop. I also believe it helps bring attention to them when they have been named in a squad

Jordan Holmes, Ashley Maynard Brewer, Jack Duncan could all get called up potentially. Personally, I’d like to see some of the Young Socceroos and Olyroos based in Europe called up, the likes of Teague, Botic and Watts, even perhaps Alexander Robertson, just to give them an experience in camp.
