+x The SA pitch from the ODI at Adelaide this year. the test pitch The ODI one looks grassier to me. I think Adelaide will end up being quite roady. Indian bowlers will need to be wise not to leave Lyon footmarks to bowl at from all their bowling around the wicket that they like to do. The day/night test throws a spanner in the works, no one has really ever looked comfortable batting on it outside of maybe 1 session a day.

I expect the Indian will bowl around the wicket a lot as we have four lefties in the top six if they do not pick Handscomb. Ugh - this is what led to Moeen destroying them in England.

+xThe fast bowling attacks of Australia and India will be pleased to hear the lush green grass that has covered the Adelaide Oval pitch for the past three day-night Tests is set to return for Thursday's Test opener. Adelaide Oval curator Damien Hough said he sees no reason to change the thick grass coverage that was employed to protect the pink Kookaburra ball in the venue's captivating twilight Tests for the highly-anticipated clash between fierce rivals Australia and India. Comments:
Well this will be no road.. perhaps even for the first three days. I just heard star seamer Josh Hazlewood let out a woopee. " finally grass on an Aussie pitch" he adds.
So here's hoping Timmy wins the toss and asks us to bowl first. Virat will no doubt do the same. This could have been planned to stop Kohli who in the past has feasted on dry, bare Adelaide Oval decks. In two matches in Adelaide, Kohli has scored three centuries @98.50.

+x+xThere was an article in the Murdoch press where a former Test player, Kerry O'Keefe?, was very excited about some young batting prodigy in his teenage years. He thought he was the best young player we've had since Ricky Ponting. He thought he had great technique and should be selected in the Aussie team as soon as possible. Didn't read it - but Keery O'Keefe is really keen on Jason Sangha - so it was probably about him... Yes it was Jason Sangha. He has one or two technical issues to sort thru before he wears a Baggy Green imho. But there is no doubt he is a Test player in waiting.

+x150 partnership between Hardie and Neilsen. Suck it up India. This pair would not look out of place in the Baggy Green side. It appears only the Swami Army comes out for T20s. The ground is all but empty bar the archaic members Stand. ..and even that is only half full. This non declaration has p***** off BCCI and Kohli. They wanted Vijay to get a hit out. Is this poor sportsmanship by CA and the skipper or just good psychology? Comments. Not port sportsmanship, gamesmanship at its finest... Keep em in the field as long as possible..

+xThis has gone too long. Game is in limbo at present. I wanna see our young quicks testing themselves against one of the best batting lineups in Test cricket. Lunch and hopefully a declaration. That was a three hr session. Would be great to give the youngsters a crack, but from a Test Series perspective I'd like to see the Indians in the field for as long as possible... Give em half hour to bat at in the last session at best...

+xNotice India A is in NZ. With Shield about to break would have been a good time to invite the Indians over to play our A boys. But no BBL takes precedence over a strong A side. There is some movement in our A program with a squad touring the Old Dart the same time as our Ashes squad next year. So that will be an interesting battle against the English Lions. CA has to expect the Lions to reciprocate soon. Lol. It is not through the Lions lack of trying... http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/18521/scorecard/1128359/queensland-xi-vs-england-lions-eng-lions-in-aus-2017-18Interestingly from this Lions team of last summer - Jennings, Foakes and Leech were all massive in England's win in SL just recently.

+x+x+x+xIf you want to hate on Kohli - there are better reasons than these... Personally - I don't like how he blames his bowlers so often for losses when I think the batting could have done better... ??????
I know what wake up means. I do not have a hate on Kohli. He is a touch arrogant. But I admire him as a sportsman. . his passion for the game. Same as Steve Waugh's. Oh so you meant the about the bowlers then? When his teams lose in limited overs, particularly in the IPL, he so often tears strips off his bowlers (he does it as a group, not individually) - I find his interviews often the highlight, just to hear him pull his bowlers to shreds, especially when unfairly so. Sometimes he is simply ridiculous about it. Often Virat typically gets off to a slow start, then speed up and make a century or a 90 odd, and give his team say 180+ to defend. Then when the opposition chase it down - it all the bowler's fault - and I would be watching and thinking - hold on Virat - at one point you were say 47(43) - perhaps this was simply a 200+ run pitch... However in England this year in the tests, he praised his bowlers and rightfully blamed his batsmen. So he's let me down with this meme in international cricket of late. But he's typically good for it at the IPL. I loved his drop the mic back to Joe Root... that was some of the best banter I have ever seen on a cricket field. I loved his drop the mic back to Joe Root... that was some of the best banter I have ever seen on a cricket field. Give me all the details. Okay - With Roy, Bairstow, Hales, Buttler and what not - Joe Root got dropped from the England t20i team for the final t20i game. Then came the odi series. England lose the first match. Come match 2.. Root gets a ton. All even heading into the decider... and Root gets a ton. Root to celebrate after he hits the winning runs - holds his bat out in front of him and drops it on the pitch "the mic drop". Out of character for him, but he had just been dropped from the t20 team... Anyway - then comes the test match. In the very first innings, Root is on 80 and takes off for a second run, it is pounced on by Kohli in the outfield who throws a direct hit run out. Kohli then mimes himself dropping a mic with his hand. Even Root found it funny... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziWYWdWfhF0 Gotcha.

Declaration issue:
I think this is possibly the wake up call that Kohli needed. He clearly wanted to bowl Ashwin, and now he should hopefully realise he does not need a front-line spinner. Vihari and 4 quicks is good enough. He has also learned that Yadav is going to struggle.
Whether Vijay gets a hit or not - it doesn't really matter. He's been to Aussie before, there are net sessions...

I understand the Territorian Luke Robins can also handle a bat. I would call bowling his strongest suit going on his FL record for the Redbacks.

A well deserved century to Neilsen. Did not always look as composed as Hardie.

Fallins should not be any easier to dislodge. Has just come off a Futures League century.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x[quote]Ravi has also a moderate record here.. 21w @49. Jadeja surprisingly had not toured here. @49 av in England and a whopping @80 in NZ. Yeah - the only spinner if any India should think about playing is Kuldeep - the wristie... Jadeja has played plenty of ODI games in Aus - averages over 60 including a game against the UAE where he cashed in... Shoulda said Jadeja had not played any Tests. I gotcha the first time :P I made this point to my Indian pals at cricforum yesterday... I think the Aus attack is overrated. I prefer the Pakistani and South African attacks easily. But only South Africa has outbowled Australia in Australia of late. So at least at home, the Aussie bowlers know what to do.... Here's the problem with India picking spinners in Australia. If India play 6 batsmen, and Aus bat first at Perth, Adelaide, or MCG - India suddenly only have three genuine bowling options. SA managed to win despite the same problem, but they Philander, Abbott and Rabada... India may play 5 batsmen and have a very long batting tail. Now even if you pick Ashwin or Jadeja to bat 7 and have 4 seamers. What is the point of playing Ashwin or Jadeja over a batsman? The spinner I would play is Kuldeep, because he will get some turn. Ashwin and Jadeja are by no means guaranteed to spin it outside of Sydney 5th day - and there is no guarantee who wins the toss in Sydney neither. So outside of Sydney - I would either go for a 4 prong pace attack - and flag the spinners. Or if Kuldeep is confident he can be a threat, go 3 seamers and Kuldeep. Of course Kohli will go with either Ashwin or Jadeja. Jadeja has not played tests in Aus - but averages over 85 in NZ. Jadeja has played 21 ODI in Aus - averages over 63. This is boosted by his 2/23 against the UAE there. Ashwin 6 tests in Aus - averages over 50 with the ball and 27 with the bat. I am not being critical of these players, who are champions in Asia. But this match is not in Asia. Australian pitches care little for finger spin, do not Lyon confuse you - he is an overspinner in AUs, not a side spinner. Even then he is going at 34 in Aus... If spin is a must, look to Kuldeep... and a 3 prong seam attack. I do not like to gamble on a long tail, of 4 seam bowlers and Kuldeep - and if that is done then Kumar really has to play as the most useful bowler batsman. I do not see Ashwin or Jadeja being bowling threats when Aus bat first... Kuldeep however, well he has shown that he will get turn in Australia with his wrist action... http://www.cricforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15446&start=400 If they wanted Kuldeep surely he would be playing in this game. Must be some pitch breakup as Shami now getting some reverse. Nothing is sure with Kohli in selection ever... He will drop Pujara if he wakes up on the wrong side of the bed... Why is Vijay not playing this game??? Kohli will make selection errors, but Kohli does when and how kohli wants... He is from a wealthy family.. married to a Bollywood actress. The Shrey Helmet Co is owned by a member of his family.. pretty sure those facts are correct. I am not sure of the Shrey Helmet part or whether that was a much wider or different Kohli family, his dad was a criminal lawyer and his mum a housewife, but well of course he would have a Bollywood wife... And of course he is rich af by now. Michael Clarke and David Warner can tell us ad nauseam what it was like for them being star cricketers in a cricket obsessed country in Sydney's west as they drive their Lamborghini's, date supermodels and celebs of SBW's level and how despite being cricketing celebs in their teenage years - how life never gave them anything easy... Because everyone is a multi millionaire in their very early 20's just like them... Wake up Baggers... This is cross cultural - there is no Asia vs Australia vs England vs NZ... the star sportsman lives a different life from everyone else - white, black or purple, it doesn't matter where they're from... or what their parents income is... and this life takes real shape in their early teenage years... even later when Smithy and Botham didn't even finish school... they were already destined for riches and greatness.. and they knew it! All superstar sportsman, born rich or poor, it makes no difference, by the time they are old enough to realise money - they are already sporting stars... freebies, complimentaries, bonuses, free entry, scholarships, status, fame etc and as such live a dream land charmed life... The tragedy - is when they get injured before cashing in... Brand Kohli could buy his own apparell company tomorrow - diadora, avia, asics... and we all know it... If you want to hate on Kohli - there are better reasons than these... Personally - I don't like how he blames his bowlers so often for losses when I think the batting could have done better... Wake up Baggers. What is that supposed to mean? " Shrey Helmets" as the name suggests, was a range of helmets launched in 2013 in the memory of the youngest member Shrey, of the Kohli family. I misunderstood about Shrey helmets. Yes it appears it is another Kohli.. unless the cricketer Kohlis family owns the sports company that makes it. "Wake up" is like "get real" - its an expression or euphemism similar to "get upto speed". A polite way of saying - "you're behind". I like and respect you - and Kohli has a lot reasons to be disliked. I do not believe his childhood or wife is one... This is by the by for any sporting superstar... It is ubiquitous that sporting heroes marry women most men only dream of... I know of a beautiful doctor, from a family full of doctors, who couldn't wait to drop her knickers and become the solo mum of a sports star's baby... It is what it is. I think even Brett Lee was once married to a doctor... He was seriously beaming over waist height there... There's a lot of benefits to being a "baller"... Female gorgeous lawyers will swoon over a completely illiterate pro-rugby player... even if his definition of romance and intimacy is a public toilet... Sportsmen - the very good ones - live in a world that is completely different to everyone else's bar pop music and movie stars... Born rich or poor, trust me - they all had more fun than you or I did in their teens or twenties... For some like Nathan Lyon, it takes longer, but it does come around eventually... Yeah - you know what I'm talking about :P The complimentary bottles pop, the knickers drop... I think the best way of summarizing it is - when we're older we dream of being sportsmen to shag the supermodels, but when we were kids - we simply dreamed of being sportsmen - before supermodels were on our agenda... Almost all sportsmen (regardless of where they're from) - rich or poor, lived a very rich life...
