@ crimsoncrusoe

Until JA focussed on results, and only results, we are stuffed. Until then he can pick out that one chance that “if we’d scored things would have been different” or that from the 27th minute to the 39th “I thought we were the better team”. It’s basically delusional - he alters the reality to suit his purpose.

I would say we have been unlucky Taggart has missed sitters and lucky .Lucky WSW didnt finish us off.MC left out Fornaroli ,some opponents cant hit an open net and Young is a good keeper.Things could be a lot worse. But we are the worst team for first half performances and are close to the best for second half performances.Which shows we arent a 90mins team.Last year CCM under Okon had third best statistics for possession...All meaningless. The main statistic is goals scored and golas conceded. That's why we are ninth with MV,WP,SFC amd NJ to come.

well if you go with goals for, goals against or goal difference we should be 7th. If you are going goals against we have only had 2 more scored against us that top spot. The 5th placed club has only scored 1 more than us. So there is some validity to JA saying we are unlucky at the moment.

if you are going off those then really 5-9 are all pretty much the same at the moment. 1-2 are well and truly clear 3-4 are only one game from being in the same area as 5-9.

I am not saying that JA is the right man to be coaching us anymore, I have turned on him now and think with the support he has had this season from the club and the squad he put together we should be top 4 right now and we are not, the last couple of games have shown that something is not right and i think that is JA at the moment. but i will say that what he is saying is true, the stats show that we have been unlucky, but in football you make your own luck sometimes. We used to look like we could win any game from any position. If we scored first you knew we were going to win and a second goal was likely just round the corner. Now if we concede first you know we are not going to win that game, the best we can hope for is to salvage a draw, and if we do take the lead we just hope against hope that we can hold out.

I still think that JA can salvage the season and make finals and possibly do some damage in them, but this season we have conceded first. Its time for JA to move on.

I find “luck” is as much a state of mind as anything else.

JA has got himself locked in to being “unlucky” and as a result, he is ... we just need to hire a lucky coach next up.

Ange always seemed pretty lucky to me. I liked Ange.

Competitve sports are games of inches.
Statistics can show you look close to your opponents. But in reality the gap is huge.
Top teams keeps win by inches and bottom teams lose by inches.
Look at Roar against AU.We looked to be in that game and competing hard. But we lost convincingly in the end.We conceded 2 goals.
Against CCM and WP we just had no way of winning and against NJ we were well beaten. That's no wins against the bottom teams.
We competed against PG and lost. But conceded 2 goals.
We were well beaten and clawed a draw against WSW a fellow struggler ,who could now transform because they have a decent defender. We conceded 2 goals.
We beat a hopeless MC.
If you conceded 2 goals it should disqualify you from claiming bad luck, unless those goals were flukes.
All in all i think the results we have so far are deserved for how we have performed.Whether we end up 10th to 7th is largely irrelevant if we are well off the leaders.

I’ve been in and around sales jobs all my life; if a sales guy kept explaining he nearly got the sale but didn’t or that he was just unlucky (again) but his sales meetings are pretty good he’dbe out on his ear.

The sooner JA realises it’s a results business the better - but to be honest all I smell (apart from Bullshit) is a few bridges being burnt

I was out Mt Gravatt way this morning and had some time on my way back so grabbed a McTea and drank it watching the end of training ....

Nothing remarkable about training tbh but noticeable afterwards that they all the players stayed out on the pitch afterwards while the coaches departed. It looked like 4 or 5 players had a few choice words and a fair bit of finger pointing took place

They train 1000-1200 on the field and somedays they’re in the gym in the arvo.

They allow fans in most days but typically they close off the last session before match day while they do tactics so avoid that one.

There is a pattern they follow with rest days so if you’re unlucky and turn up when they’re resting you’ll miss out. But generally the two days after match day I’d avoid, and the day before match day.

Wednesday is normally a safe day

They seemed to be taking it in turns to have their say (I was about 100m away so couldn’t hear what was said) but the players who spoke and were quite animated were:

Matty
Kristensen
Avram
Mauk
Taggart

Plus one other I couldn’t make out.

It didn’t seem like an srguement/disagreement more just saying stuff to each other’s faces. No laughter until they were walking off but even then, not the usual banter.

Matty has been starting so Hingerts not been captain. This Friday will test both Matty starting and who is captain

Hingert surely can not start let alone be captain, for whatever reason that boy has declined from a perfectly serviceable RB into a liability?

So an article has come out with quotes from Chris Fong giving full support to Aloisi: http://global.espn.com/soccer/brisbane-roar/story/3724729/brisbane-board-backs-john-aloisi-to-turn-around-roars-poor-start

He mustn't have too many games left then?

You would have to imagine that he will be gone if he loses the remaining games before xmas.

He has a decent squad, how much time does he need...

But then again, who replaces him....

Yeah, “votes of confidence” are about “The now” with a caveat that might change at the next Board meeting.

Confidence in senior managers (in our case Coach) is implicit and normally unstated; when it does get stated there is normally a clear reason for it (in our case poor results) which is often a cause for alarm and speculation meaning the Board need to say something else people lose confidence in them. .

It’s as much a warning as a supportive action.

I always image people like Fong are saying “we shouldn’t really have to say this but results are shit so we’re forced too ... we have every confidence in our coach blah blah blah ... but that only extends to the next match when we reserve our right not to be confident anymore”

Yeah I think saying "we are sure that John can turn it around" really means "John, if you are listening, you'd better turn it around or you are gone".

One of the things I absolutely cannot stand about the A-League is the lack of forward thinking from clubs/owners. They should currently (as privately as possible) be sounding out replacements for Aloisi. They should have already had an idea of some suitable coaches who are available. A new coach should be brought in as quickly as possible after Aloisi is gone, so they can use the rest of the season as a learning exercise (let's face it, if you are getting rid of your coach during a season, the season is a write off).

Instead, I'd imagine Darren Davies would takeover as interim head coach, with a new one to be found at some point in the off-season, giving them no time to get to know the squad, get rid of players they don't like and bring in the players they think they will need.

They wouldn't have to have a vote of confidence unless there was a lack of confidence.

Will certainly need to be hitting the drinks early to ensure sufficient numbing before the drubbing we will inevitably receive.

Now in saying that, we'll probably manage to snatch a last minute, undeserved draw, and have Aloisi claiming we were good value for the 3 points in his post match press conference.

The club and board has been more than generous to JA and his brother to date.

This "full confidence " is a play on words.

What it says is "well John we had full confidence in you ??? but we've been let down so Au Revoir!!!"

Ross MUST go, it's too much brother brother thing. You fall out with Ross.....so you fall out with John.....unhealthy for a pro team for god sake.

Nah, sadly not. The mail don’t do it justice but stuff is already getting cancelled left right and Center, SES are standing by, police called back from leave, it’s going to be very wet it’s just when it hits and how dangerous it is.

There’s always a chance it’ll be nothing but my daughters outdoor Christmas fair just got cancelled, and the local carol concert that’s indoor just went as well. They’re not doing that on the back of a CM article.

crazy. Bom is predicting that it will make landfall up in the cape around the same time as the game is meant to kick off. Some rain will be sent down to us preceding the system but it doesnt look likely to be severe with the system so far away. particularly this far out.

my guess is it will be wet but still good for football.

It’s not the storm itself that’s the problem. It’s the weather front that’s coming in with it.

It’s either gonna be wet and played Friday night to 5,000 people, or moved to Sunday to 6,000 people or after Christmas to 7,000 people.

I tell you, Pourre is Jinxed lol.

it would be crazy to call it off this far out. the trough line will bring rain but the current forecast is for it to be over the day (and weekend) not torrential severe storms.  they are not calling severe storms or for periods of heavier rain than we have played in before. there current models dont have any severe wind or any conditions likely to be dangerous. why would they call it off this far out for 50% chance of 30-50mm over the day

The BoM weather forecast is not up to date. That forecast is without the impact of the storm

Brisbane Airport is warning of closures tomorrow and sever flight delays. Victory may not even land.

Let’s see but sh*t is getting cancelled all over the place.
