Sainsbury with 3 good headers and a foot clearance in the space of 40 seconds. And the next one he stops really well only that he was far out Inter with a quick through ball for Viereger to slide in and then Sainsbury heads the ensuing ball in the box.

Awesome that Sainsbury played and sounds like he did well. Was really lacking match fitness last camp but excited for two champions league playing CBs to start at the Asian Cup.

Full time. Good game by Sainsbury but the crucial moment vs Icardi saw the goal scored. Otherwise he kept Icardi at bay and did a lot of good things.

Sainsbury with a 7.1 on whoscored. It's the highest for all centre backs.

+xAwesome that Sainsbury played and sounds like he did well. Was really lacking match fitness last camp but excited for two champions league playing CBs to start at the Asian Cup. Two full games in a row now. Considering his match fitness and all that travel he did fantastic against an Inter side that needed a better result than Spurs to progress. Way too many clowns on social media. Even without my bias he did very very well. It is a shame that he lost Icardi for the goal. A great swift cross and Icardi is a fantastic striker who gets away from the very best. The number of duals won and solid passes made by Sainsbury shows its ingrained in him to be a ball playing CB. There are reports Schwaab will be back on the weekend. Time will tell. BVM and MVB knows Sainsbury very well so they'll hopefully persist with him knowing he's only going to get better.

+xSainsbury has a bit of unfinished business there at Milan. The bloke is starting against his old club at the san Siro, in the deciding champions league group fixture. let that sink in for a moment. Trying to watch from an Inter fan view, Sainsbury and Viergever were absolute pests tonight. Lots of praise in Italian for Sainsbury.

Dunno how much better Sains could get in a game vs Inter. Sounds like he did well in general and should be pleased with himself. PSV should be more concerned they didn't score more goals. Sounds like they allowed Inter to pepper goal after scoring the first. Inevitable 1-1 ?

To echo all the sentiment here:
Absolutely stoked to have both Sains and Degenek starting Champions League matches just 3 weeks out from the Asian Cup.
Surely our long-term CB pairing for years to come.

Whilst we’re on the topic of Sains and Degenek, just noticed that both of their leagues go on winter break soon.
Assuming we make it to the AC Final, Sains would only miss 3 matches, with the Eredivisie resuming 21st Jan.
Degenek will actually miss zero matches. His last league match is this weekend on Sunday 16th December, and Red Star don’t play any matches after that until 16th February next year.

You’d think the breaks would get factored into the club contracts

Lots of praise in Italian for Sainsbury. they had their chance to keep him thanks for the match comments through the thread johnszasz. i only caught 15 minutes of the game b4 work. i was going to ask for a round up but i think you nailed it. you would have to be a world class CB to keep icardi in your pocket. especially when they are playing the biggest game of their season. this was the image on the google champions league page today.

So Tottenham's late equaliser keeps Inter out of the next round. lol I would say well done PSV/Trent but Inter treated Sains fairly well.

John Iredale has had surgery on a stress fracture in his foot. I don't know how long these normally take to recover but I do know two friends who were a promising afl and football player and had to stop playing because of repeated foot stress fractures. https://twitter.com/iredale_john9?lang=en

Arnie’s going to have a tough time with the upcoming U23 games with all these injuries. Iredale and Arzani were locked-on starters (pending club release).

Vuka starting v Sarpsborg Rogic starting v Salzburg Giannou starting v Leverkusen Gersbach on the bench v Leipzig
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Some feel Rogic got a knock to the head. Couldn't care less about his club form when it's all about the Roos now.
