Melbourne jet to be diverted at the last moment. Disqualified. We win and Aloisi keeps his job. "We have been building towards this victory and the result is our just desserts"

Would not matter if it rains or not ....if there is even a sniff of it mentioned... Brisbane will stay away in droves. We go nowhere when its wet . We need a covered stadium more than Melbourne . We get twice Melbourne's yearly rainfall in about three months ..January February and March and we hate to get our feet wet because our rain is torrential when it happens .

Yeah, my guess is fox won’t care either, they’ll just push for the game to go ahead.

Oh how times have changed. What used to be a rainy day is now and 'extreme rain event'. Where we used to be advised by the weather man to take an umbrella, we are now told that we need to 'brace for wild weather'. Forecast for Friday from the BOM site (4:50 this morning) Brisbane areaCloudy. Very high (90%) chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm, possibly severe. Winds northerly 15 to 25 km/h becoming light before dawn then becoming north to northeasterly 20 to 30 km/h in the morning.
Geez, if they stopped sport in Brisbane whenever there was a "chance of a thunderstorm" there'd be no sport from September to April.

+xThe BoM weather forecast is not up to date. That forecast is without the impact of the storm Brisbane Airport is warning of closures tomorrow and sever flight delays. Victory may not even land. Let’s see but sh*t is getting cancelled all over the place. Waz - are you seriously saying that the climate and weather experts at the BOM would forget to take account of a storm? Like "It's going to be fine and 30 degrees, oh, that's if you don't count the storm we are expecting"? Next you'll be suggesting that they may be wrong about climate change?

err no, the models they’re running probably have such a wide tollerance that their forecasts can’t be specific to an exact time so they give a warning of a major weather event but their day-day forecasts still look like a normal summers day tbh.
The RSF talked with the club last night and there are concerns over safety if the wrong conditions arrive as spectators are arriving/departing the stadium
The BoM has not been specific on timings and only has a ten hour window of when the event will hit with the match smack bang in the middle of it.
The FFA are making the decision within the hour according to Pourre.
My guess is Fox will roll the dice and force it to go ahead.

If the game doesn’t go ahead that will be a month in between games. How can this maintain interest.
In a resort somewhere

+xThe RSF talked with the club last night and there are concerns over safety if the wrong conditions arrive as spectators are arriving/departing the stadium. Maybe it's just me, but I have always considered that my personal safety is my own responsibility, and that I want my football club to be worrying about winning games, rather than whether I will get wet on the way to a game. In other countries they manage to play even when it's snowing ....

@ clockwork
Personal safety is always an individual responsibility until something happens, and then lawyers make it someone else’s fault.
This is not a wet weather event they’re worried about, not even just a storm the scenario that’s being painted is very severe. So it all depends on exactly what advice is being given. (My personal view is the only advice the ffa will care about is what Fox are telling them)
They could play the game and the weather might just be wet
Or we could get the Wellington scenario where the game starts but can’t finish and they turf everyone out into the storm.
Or the could play the game and there’s a total failure on the transport network with trains stranded, busses unable to move and a catastrophic storm raging ... where do you put a few thousand people in that scenario?
It’s easy to be flippant about these things but how good would your Christmas be if someone you loved got killed on the way to the game tomorrow?

Guys, Waz coaches a kids meteorologist team so please don't question him.
Though now that I've said that, the game will be cancelled.

Is the weather "event" warning on the BOM website? I've been looking but can't find anything. I have seen references in the media, but I would have thought BOM would have had something on the website if it is what the media is suggesting. Edit - have just found reference to this weather under Media Releases on BOM website. To me, these warnings/media releases sounds like BOM doing some arse-covering on the off-chance that something slightly severe occurs. This seem to be standard practice for them in Brisbane now, and I don't really blame them. I believe it started a couple of years ago when a particular storm (can't remember which one) was more severe than BOM forecast, BOM got hauled over the coals by media/politicians and were told they needed to be better in future, and consequently anything now that has a remote chance of being more than just a standard bit of weather has over-the-top warnings put out.

"It’s easy to be flippant about these things but how good would your Christmas be if someone you loved got killed on the way to the game tomorrow? Probably pretty upset. But I wouldn't blame the club. Would you? I wonder if all the cinemas are stopping showings in case people get killed on the way? Are the shops going to close? Or the pubs? The restaurants? Or is it just football fans that are likely to get killed in this monster storm? I totally get the argument about the club being concerned about a low turnout. Perfectly legitimate that the club wants to maximise income. But the idea that football fans need greater protection from rain than people pursuing other forms of entertainment is ludicrous.

the cyclone is definitely making it hard to predict and the models are changing pretty rapidly but the one i have the most experience interpreting is the local gliding forecast. http://glidingforecast.on.net/RASP/RASPtable.html the latest model they have put up is showing possible severe storms up in gympie and much further west around roma but the southeast corner looks pretty clear. they have downgraded the rain prediction with heavy falls isolated to the storm areas. they are predicting the trough line (and associated storms) to stay well to the west which is reflecting boms latest maps. of course this is all up to what happens with TC owen as it is the main driver of the weather but right now game time is looking like only light showers.

@ clockwork
The club were stuffed on attendance anyway.
Play it and get a low crowd or postpone it and get a low crowd, doesn’t matter - the games stuffed attendance wise.
And there’s plenty of stuff being cancelled. My guess would be outdoor cinemas will be thinking twice lol (if we have any left).
Let’s hope Pourre gets lucky.

Great post. The gliders forecast it is 👍
I guess you don’t want to take any chances in a plane without engines right
I’ll repost that on the RSF page 👍

What I’m looking for tonight:
1. Some usual names to be droppped from the squad entirely for under performing ... not picking on anyone but Hingert, Mikkelsen even TK are candidates.
2. Ricky NOT to be starting but readied off the bench.
3. Some f’kin concentration in the first fifteen minutes and five minutes each side of half time.
4. Some real fire in their bellies and taking the game to victory.
I’ll take whatever result comes but I want to see some change !!

I’d play Mackay and put him man to man on Honda. He’s got the engine for it - we’ve got to starve Honda of quality ball.

How do you stop a good playmaker...... you don't let him have the ball.
Block all channels, be alert and know where he is at all times, children ncentrare on this for 90 mins. If he gets the ball he is pressured immediately.
Yes a man marker but it's everyone's responsibility to block the service at all times.
And yes it's 11v 11 but you must disrupt the cleverest playmaker.
