Is it worth the time & stress for a couple of dollars? I guess it depends on if you decide it's about the principle of the thing, in which case it's not about the money, it's about honesty etc...
What does it usually cost for a taxi home from there?

Its the principle... Company P-card....
Its normally 52-56 in peak hour...

I agree, the Ruth character did wonders for the series. I think it's because they found such a unique young actress for the part & she did a brilliant job.
Can you imagine how many must have tried out for the part...it would've been a different show altogether with anyone else.
Marty's daughter didn't bother me much, especially compared to a few of the others & oddly enough whenever she was on I kept wondering if she (the actress) was native American Indian or at least part of from one parent or something like that.

I'll try to check out Bodyguard & Bad Blood as well later.
I heard Peaky Blinders is a good one from the UK, set in 1919, done from the mobs perspective.

I did all kind of searches to see if Ruthie had modelled her accent on that of Dolly Parton...to no avail...but reckon it is almost as Johnny Depp is to Keith Richards a la Pirates of the Caribbean

So he tried to rip you off $24 to $28, then when confronted he tried to get away with ripping you off $4 to $8 instead...
Considering it also reflects on your companies reputation...it'll probably only take a phone call & you're done...
$60 is pretty close though...it's up to you.

I've never heard of her before Ozark & all I have to go on is IMDB. It says she was born in NY & still lives there, but her father is from Ohio, which might be the only explanation for some kind of mid USA southern kind of accent rubbing off on her, then again she could've bunged it on for the role..

So I just caught one of those black stupid looking pommy taxi things from the airport...
Asked the driver as we took off "is that the right tariff"...
" Yes yes, day tariff" came the reply..
Halfway home again I asked "sure its right, it normally only costs this much to get home; I catch a lot of taxis"...
" Yes, yes, it must be the  traffic" he assured me...
Over $80 on arrival prompted me "so tariff 4 is correct, because I think it's way over, and I will be following it up"...
Immediately he said" you trying to cause me trouble, my finger must have slipped, OK I'll make it $60...
"No way mate charge me the $80 and I'll follow it up, if it was an honest mistake you can explain you realised the mistake and did the right thing"...
Mexican stand off a few more words, took his cab number...
He refused to charge $80... So I paid $60... I reckon its a regular con for the unwitting, and tourists...
Do I follow up or give him the benefit of the doubt?...

Probably the single reason I catch Ubers instead of taxis these days....

Agree with that Tony. Uber is a shoddy rip off. Their surge pricing rubbish has caught many people out. Not to mention how questionable some of their seedy drivers are. Cab prices are regulated. Uber is a multi national joke that pays no tax here. Hope they are outlawed

Price surge? Never experienced it.
But at the very least you should do an Uber cost check before you hop into a taxi.
I know their tariffs aren't the same, but at least it gives you an idea of what kind of costs to expect.

And I think you'll find Tony that Uber does carry insurance which covers a portion of damages or 3rd party injury.

The people I feel sorry for are the taxi licence owners who forked out half a fortune to get that licence and its lost a lot of value since Ride sharing options were legalised.
I don't know what kind of compensation they received but they are the only ones I feel for if out of pocket. The rest are just drivers just like the Uber drivers.
I in fact find Uber drivers less smelly and cars are cleaner.

Changing the subject from the Dman / Dutchy bromance ...

The relative youth/inexperience of our NRL side is an issue for 2019.

Stats say younger/inexperienced sides can struggle.

Luckily we have a small core of experienced players, Jackson, Napa, Foran, Hoppa, it is up to these guys to lead the way.

I'm still expecting to confound our critics and go much better than they expect, but that is around 8th-12th.

Dutchy had a big off-season leading into 2018 & I thought he improved heaps on the field.
Prior to 2018 things were looking very mediocre there, but now he's gone from fringe first-grader to a talented leader that's one of the first picked & also gained some extra pace which was clearly noticeable. Well done to Dutchy & it sounds like he'll be training the house down again leading into next season. From the dribs & drabs released from the club, it sounds like they're all training the house down.

There's more points in the current team than last years. The forwards are more balanced, the spine is looking better than it has for a long time & I think some of those experts slanging the team off are bound to end up eating 'those' sandwiches next year.

A lot of experienced guys have left, but that's a blessing in disguise as realistically there were no points in them. Klem had no points in him, couldn't even barge over for a try at short range. Bmoz lost half his pace & couldn't create tries anymore, just finish them. Jmoz couldn't create tries, just finish them & as great as his defence had been he was starting to be brushed aside easier & easier. Eastwood could create tries, but not often because he played so hard up the middle with big collisions, so if he busted through & the ball went to ground then that was it for his attacking match for the week.

Not bagging any of those guys that left, they all contributed for a long time, the point is it's not the doom & gloom those writers would have you believe by 'losing experienced players' because there's still plenty of experienced guys there & the replacements starting next season are all capable of doing the same job if not better.
As for Lichaa, with Shifty coming in to help the spine players out, how good is that, the right coaches helping his game on the training field is the only sensible way to make progress & improve rather than the coaches & board just ignoring any work that needs to be done (or oblivious to it) & letting things stay the same or boring the players half to death with meaningless stats. It's not a weak or inexperienced side, there's competition for spots now & no room for passengers. They could probably do with another signing for the outside backs, maybe a speedy Gonzales that can make line breaks & it may still happen.

Excellent Post BN, I agree with most of your points.

But I think B.Mz / J.Moz were excellent professionals who could finish an opportunity, and top blokes as well.

Perhaps they are well past their peak, and victims of the style we have been playing.

I welcome a new coach and a heavy turn over of players, for the reason that we need to refresh the club, and change our style.
One reason is our style was dead boring to watch, there were times in 2015,2016, 2017 and early 2018 where our team was very poor to watch and  offered little entertainment value. I almost felt like apologising to the rest of the NRL.

In 2019 with a new style and a young exciting team, we should be good entertainment value. I would settle for something like Penrith or Canberra even  if we miss the 8.

Some of the young ones have good leadership qualities. Rhyse Martin, Dutchy are already there. The guys coming in like Corey Harawira- Naera & Sauaso Sue also have leadership qualities & plenty of first grade experience, plus those two bring some extra aggression & not to mention big red.
Meanie & Cogger are still young, but so are Lewis & Marshall King. They all got a fair bit of first grade experience last year so with a good pre-season it's not a disadvantage having a few in the 17 because they bring extra enthusiasm which rubs off on the rest.
I think Danny F is in his final year, so it's up to him if he wants to get another contract & only one way to prove it - play consistently like he did in the trials last year, run hard & tackle anything that moves. Francis T is down to his last year too, but Ogden has 2 ahead.
Jayden Okunbor is down to his last year now, still young, not sure how much time in firsts he'll get, but he might end up being the missing link in the backline. Well, it'd be great to bring one through the grades that succeeds instead of forcing them all out.
Wakeham is another young one, but lots of talent. Not sure they'll rush him into firsts, but could end up a regular first-grader in no time. They might even try him on the wing, similar to how Steve Morris used to play for saints, switching to halves when needed.
It's great the competition for all the spots now & the coach wont tolerate a lack of effort, so it's put in or ship out & the players next contracts could depend on it.
Injuries could weaken some positions & diminish the competition for some spots, that's the way it goes for all clubs, but at least there's some depth now. A lot of good work is being done with the lower grades so after a bad few years (neglect) it's great it's all on the up again.

If we lose that one Marki will be on his way to Watson's Bay.
there is another point of view that trial matches are an invitation to injury.
