Time for the Aloisi brothers to go & coach state league. It's all they're good for.
Having said that a good proportion of the Roar's squad is bog average. Like Mariners average.

Nah, the squad is good enough. The fact they’re performing this shit is a testament to the coaching.
Roar youth 5/0 up before half time.
Here’s my tip: Drew Sherman as interim coach before the days out.

That's fantastic and sure tells you something.especially v MV who one would of expected to be decent.
How's Devere look, fit?
Is Drew the youth team coach?

Not sure sub007
. Buts let's imagine if circumstances were different and Roar had a coach doing well and managing the boys to play to their abilities.
Starters I'd go Papa, Lopez, Bautheac, young, Mauk, Devere should be playing, Taggart maybe, then Otoole and Kristensen on their better days.
So that 6......plus 3 maybes ?? You'll probs disagree with me.
However I do agree on current form it'd be a different outcome.
One hopes that The Aloisi era is all but over and a new leader will inspire the players I mentioned to play at their actual ability which is not happening under the Twins Aloisi.

Young, Avram, Mauk, Lopez, Bautheac would certainly make it. So would DeVere as we’ll find out in the ne t transfer window.
Hingert, Bowles, O’Toole and Ingham are perfectly serviceable in a salary capped league.
Ricky, Mackay, Mikkelsen would struggle to get picked up.

So, I watched Young Roar hammer victory 6-0 at Lions Stadium this morning. Important not to read too much into NYL games but there’s a lot to like.
Physically it’s hard to see a lot of these young lads breaking through into the HAL side anytime soon, a good strong challenge and both sets of players were often on the ground.
Roar had this big No. 3 playing CB. Looked pretty decent, fitted in well with his team mates. Slightly older than your average NYL player and the young Victory kids seemed to try and take him on for pace but the older lad seemed too experienced for them and always seemed to run the right line. Watch out for him, I think he’ll break through to a HAL side soon, name of Luke DeVere or something ...

Hingert, Bowles, O’Toole and Ingham are perfectly serviceable in a salary capped league. Ricky, Mackay, Mikkelsen would struggle to get picked up. Young - good keeper. I'd say he'd be around 4th or 5th best keeper in the league. Bautheac- Would start at any club Avraam- As above Lopez- Would start at most clubs. Good player. Mauk- Bottom half starter. Devere- Haven't seen him play in yonks so I don't think it's fair to comment on him. Hingert- Lower end starter. Would only start at Roar or CCM. Bowles- He's shit, backup player. Ingham- As above O'Toole- Good young player but doesn't work hard enough defensively. Still wouldn't start at many other clubs yet. He'll be a good left back in the future. Henrique- Roar legend but his best days are behind him due to his age and the quality of the league improving every year. McKay- As above. Mikkelsen- Worst import of the season so far along with Ilso. Maybe they'll come good but both have been poor so far. Edit: Forgot about Kristensen. Good player, but is 35 and there are plenty of younger, better payers in his position at other clubs.

I agree mostly with sub007 except a little for the Young part, He is without a doubt the best shot stopper in the league, he has made Roar look far less worse scoreline wise over the years and won us many many games alone. Overall skill wise, he is probably 3rd or 4th best keeper all around, he does have weaknesses, so I some what agree. Just my opinion of course.

So JA had released the travelling squad for Saturday and now appears to be using a random number generator for selection:
IN BAUTHEAC (returns from suspension), 13.Stefan MAUK (promoted), 18.Joe CALETTI (promoted), 24.Connor O’TOOLE (promoted), 36.Daniel LECK (promoted)
Outs: 7.Thomas KRISTENSEN (not selected), 20.Shannon BRADY (not selected), 23.Dylan WENZEL-HALLS (not selected)
It’s almost like everyone gets a week not selected to sit on the naughty chair but magically reselected the next weekend.

@Waz I think he has decided on Bautheac, Mauk and O'Toole as first choice - just coming off the back of last week's lucky numbers trial of others. I would guess that Brady and DWH were triallists that did not win him a game so are out of favour again. TK looked especially slow and his passing off last game and his positioning and experience could not offset it - so he would be in the naughty chair for a week (to make him faster next time...). Leck and Caletti will be his triallists this week - although I expect Caletti will be on the bench for McKay. I may stand alone, but I still think McKay earns his place in our run on team with his energy, work rate and for how he makes the others around him keep trying. He has done a few good things up front and in our poorly performing team I think he does make a positive difference.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Seriously, why would any young player want to be at Brisbane. You can understand them not getting a look in if we were riding high, winning every match, but when you consider that we have only scored 5 goals from open play all season, and our second striker has only played 79 minutes, it's a bit strange to say the least. Aloisi is just guessing now. He has no long term plan - you get ten minutes to score a brace and win the game or you are dropped for the next guy. he then gets 10 minutes or less and the cycle continues.

He is always trying to pressure the ball, but unlike back in the day, he gets there too slow to create meaningful pressure on the ball carrier. I'm really hoping for him and TK to be dropped for Mauk and Caletti, with Lopez guiding them.

Yeah, I’m not getting the player rotation now.
TK has played poorly all season so yeah drop him, but he’ll be back in next week based on recent selection policy and, like Hingert, won’t improve much.
The front 4 I’d be happy with but I’d rather see Wenzal-Halls or Leck on the right wing (whichever one is fastest) for the first hour.
Plenty of Roar fans hoping we cop a serve to seal JAs fate but I think his fate is already been decided - not sure one more defeat will make any difference nor a miraculous win.

Interesting that we’ve conceded 10 goals in our last 3 games, and still Nigro can’t even make the travelling squad? What a pointless signing and a water year for him.

Nigro could even play DM which is his preferred position.

Yes, agreed. We’ve just dropped our DM and still Nigro can’t make the squad. Funny that most of us started the season thinking we could go ok as long as Matty and Ricky were only bench players. But what’s going to happen in reality is that we’ll finish the season bottom half and be in the same place as last year. No young players coming through and a bunch of old guys to get rid of.

I'm really hoping for him and TK to be dropped for Mauk and Caletti, with Lopez guiding them. I agree on his pace and lack of direct ball pressure - but I watch how the team plays when he is off and they are directionless. Possibly because no-one else has been given the opportunity to build some co-ordination by playing in his place for a few games, but I prefer to think he provides a great deal of motivation across the park and we desperately need that commitment, leadership and respect for the uniform.

With nothing to base it on other than speculation, I would guess that any defensive minded player with experience at some point disagrees with the Aloisi defence accord - to the extent that their own expertise would have them play a different way in some situations. JA's regime requires everyone to adhere to what appears to be a rigid playbook, so the Devere's of the world are pushed out when they try to play the way their experience tells them to and that puts them offside with their coach. Maybe Nigro fits that pattern too...?

Unfortunately the only way I can watch a Roar game now is knowing that the next game is one game closer to a change of management and squad regeneration.

I was having a beer at a friends BBQ yesterday and met a fellow sufferer. His nightmare was JA still in charge next winter and suffering the same “we’ll be ready for Round One” BS we’ve had for the past two seasons .... the beers were flowing last night I can tell you 😩

Another painful 90 mins coming up. Really not sure whether I want to watch it even on TV. But hey, good work BRFC Board for allowing the Aloisi train wreck to merrily continue.
