+x+xSaddest part is the BBL wasn't even an idea when the ALeague started I don't think there will be a next tv deal To be honest, I am so relieved that south saved it's $15 million put forward for a licence and hopefully redirects thatoney towards the establishment of a second tier TBH it can't happen soon enough as the A-League is sinking father fath the Titanic Id value an ALeague licence at $2million max based on the actual numbers and exposure it's currently getting Once a second national tier is up and running I predict half the ALeague teams trying to jump ship I know this forum has some shocking posts, but fmd this might take the cake Of the current trends aren't super alarming then I wish I could see the world through your eyes Also I stick by my comments regarding value of an ALeague Licensed at its current point South Melbourne getting in at 15.5 million is ludicrous $5 million max and that is because we have a $0 venue agreement

If the A-league was in such dire straits, why do so many people want to get in on the action?

It’s just the usual crowd talking things down, trying to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy.
SMFC were willing to spend $15 million to join the A-League, so the desire was there, whatever one now says to try and make it sound like it’s somehow not worth entering. If they had of got in, we would t have heard the end of it from the SMFC PR machine on here, talking up just how great it all is.
The games biggest issue is actually those within it, not those outside. The constant negativity about everything, with so many experts trying to sell their vision for things, which when it’s not accepted some rather take a wrecking ball to everything in their act of vengeance.
No wonder people aren’t watching after constantly listening to the doomsdayers for a few years now.

It’s ironic that the usual bitter SMFC cheer squad compares the BBL favourably against the A-League when at the same breath despise the business of modern sport with all its razzmatazz which is precisely what the BBL is LOL.

I'm sorry guys and as someone who has experienced in "my football world" caving inside out due primarily to bad managent (not the clubs), I am sincere in my sympathies towards the fans of what is coming over about rather quickly.
Foxtel has offered the ALegue $79 million to hand back the agreement, FTA acquired Sat nights next to nothing, for those of you that can access inside information should not have to dig deep for this information
as mentioned already I personally do not feel validated or vengeance or anything along those lines. What I do feel is sympathy for the fans that will be left out in the cold once again

Chris, trying to bring unverifiable info to the table to try and prove a point that the world is ending is quite funny.
SMFC have been trying hard to get in, which makes it odd you now suggest that Foxtel has wanted out of a deal that props up the competition. Good try though.
The bitterness of some gets very, very tiring fast.

The bbl is a hit and giggle tournament that doesnt take itself seriously. Its a clown show that pulls in almost a million viewers per night.

Rather than pay $57 million to broadcast all games each season, Foxtel want to pay the FFA $79 million to not broadcast games?

Yep, you heard it first off Chris, who only wants what's best for the game. After playing an active role in expansion negotiations, Foxtel now want to pay $79 million to not have to show it.

Yep, you heard it first off Chris, who only wants what's best for the game. After playing an active role in expansion negotiations, Foxtel now want to pay $79 million to not have to show it. Also factor in that each game that is broadcast costs Foxtel over $80k per individual Match...That's a cost of $400k per round This offer to sell back happened Jan 2018 when the broadcast figures were down 30pc yoy 12 months on and it's another 30 plus PC down again Foxtel will not make an offer based on these numbers hense the urgency by the FFA for expansion, but the actual expansion decisions are slow burners at best and quite puzzling. This is predominantly due to certain ALeague clubs blocking certain bids, the take wagging the dog Unless these 2 new products create a storm from the onset it's unlikely Foxtel will table an offer. Now with Foxtel unlikely to make an offer unless as mentioned current trends turn on their head, there is a very slim hope the A-Leagueis may be on Optus to gain a share of the EPL market, however with Foxtel out of the race there will only be one bidder, and will be looking for a bargain.
The fact of the matter is with EPL going to Optus, the A-League has been exposed and unable to hold a solid market as its own product
Time will tell and sincerely hope the new teams hit the sweet spot with immediate impact

Chris is a bitter as are some other SMFC fans. Calls facts insults when not to his liking. Can’t accept that 2 administrations has knocked his insular club back already and with the A.League clubs soon to have voting control there’s little chance of anything getting any better for the minnows. He is frothing at the mouth, a reaffirmed bitter who is now worse than when Mr Football was on here, an AFL nutter.

Your bitter views are a convenient excuse to ignore the facts All key metrics are down, please focus on the conversation How does the ALeague turn it's fortunes Over to you, here's your opportunity to prove everyone wrong and you are capable to make a contribution rather than just call the bitter card How will the next tv deal get more lucrative than the current one?

My inside info is that the South Melbourne bid was rejected based on one factor. The FFA and Foxtel knew that if South were to join the competition, the viewing stats and match attendances would explode by the 100's and neither the FFA or Foxtel have the infrastructure to deal with this massive influx of interest.
A lot of South fans are like teenage boys chasing after a girl (the A league). If the A League (girl) accepts their advances, then it's the hottest thing ever. On the other hand, if the girl rejects them, then she's an ugly whore they want nothing to do with.

We can joke around all day long, fact is South made one big time appearance on fox and the rating for that game was bigger than 90% of current A league games...and thats npl South.

Does anyone have any early big bash crowd and ratings figures? It feel like the bogans are far less excited about it this year and I'm wondering if that is translating into lower crowds and TV ratings
