+x+x+x+xSo I finished the stand alone novels Zef and I'm now at a loss. Ending set up the next trilogy perfectly but its going to be one hell of a long wait. Onya Batch. So can't this bloke f***in write! I maintain nobody does characters better than he does on the planet. So many of those characters I love and will never forget - Nine Fingers (just about everyone's favourite, but not necessarily mine) Costa (close to mine, especially in "Best served Cold") Black Dow, Rudd Three Trees, and perhaps my favourite though very much a minor character - Friendly. and about a hundred others. None boring, none shallow, none cardboard cutouts. This bloke brilliantly names a minor, very minor character "Stranger Comes Knocking" (that's his name) and immediately gives him more menace, depth and character just by that name than some authors spend pages on back stories of characters can give Nobody does characters like this bloke, NOBODY. Your favourite book? Mine is Red Country, just loved the return of Logan, a bit of old style violent Western redemption story there, like Unforgiven. Funnily enough probably the least popular amongst the hard core fans where The Heroes reigns supreme. And yes - hell of a wait. I find it hard to read (listen via audiotape) much anything else these days, I just want back into Abercrombie's head. Anyway, the first of the next trilogy is out sometime this year and Abercrombie is writing all three of them before he releases the first so there isn't George RR Martin type waits between books - a year apart at max, he's hinted maybe even less. Which will be good because I'll wait until they're all out before I do them. New trilogy is in the First Law universe, set about 100 years or so after the first trilogy when industrialisation is coming and magic is dying - I think Red Country gave us a hint of what to expect there. Until then... f***ed if I know. I liked Red Country a lot mate. The way Shivers was given a glimpse of redemption whilst clearly still being damned was a real nice way to finish the book. For me that's the real strength of the stories, the characters are given a resonance beyond their explicit appearance in the stories. Little mentions and clues here and there mean we're all too aware of their continuing existence in his universe even if we hear nothing further of their actions. This then gives a richness and authenticity to the world that you don't find in most stories in this genre. Favourite book? I think I'd put up Red Country along with Best Served Cold and a lot of that comes down to the characters driving the narrative of each story, Logan and Costa. I actually didn't like The Heroes that much. Favourite character would have to be Glokta and a lot of that is down to him being the funniest torturer I've ever encountered. Would have loved to found out what happened to Ferro. I guess that's possible in the next series if only 100 yrs have passed. Anyway I have to move onto something new audiobook wise so I'll let you know if I encounter anything half as good. Importantly I need to thank you once again for the recommendation. I'll probably go out and buy hard copies of all of the book just so they're there on the bookshelf. When I revisit them I just know I won't be able to go past the audioooks. Nice observations there and spot on. I was just searching and the next trilogy isn't 100 years, it's just a generation. Glimpsing the future is one thing, but with the guiding hand of the First of the Magi still pulling the strings, changing it will be quite another… The generation thing is promising. More likely there'll still be a few old-timers around to get reacquainted with.

its depressing after reading this napa story 2nd sex tape story now , WHY could nt the roosters have delt with it WHY should the dogs have 2 , after losing a heap of good 1st grade players in b & j morris , klemmer , mybe ,this was 2 salary cap drama ,SO whats next for the dogs dose napa get a long sentence or do the dogs supporters have 2 suffer @
either the roosters expense cause this story should of being put to bed way back then ,i bet anyone either way the dogs will suffer 1 way or another for napa he will get something & the roosters should compensate the bulldogs

So said Ray Davies of the Kinks quite a few years ago but true words as far as NRL goes...once again the headlines involving miscreant behaviour by NRL players has one common denominator...booze. The one that the NRL should be disturbed about is the Sharks being banned from the Cronulla Sailing Club.....the Cronulla Sailing Club ffs. It sounds like everyone should be over 70 with leather patches on their sleeves. What is disturbing is that the blanket ban was seemingly as a result of poor behaviour by the Jersey Flegg team...the face of the NRL Youth competition. Yet the NRL has not come out and condemned the excessive intake of alcohol...don't want to hurt advertising revenue. Uncontrolled alcohol intake is the bane of the game..It shows rugby league players are essentially dopes.They play the game so they can get shit-faced afterwards...some seemingly have it as their main motivation.
The current week shows where the media priorities lie...the bottom story involved Mitchell Pearce and a punchup at a wedding...After his famed round last time you would think it would be the headline not that of a bloke being the subject of a 4-5 year old video....

The bottom line is Big Poppa did nothing wrong and The NRL would or should know this. They'd be on very shaky legal ground indeed if they thought for a second they have any jurisdiction over what consenting adults do in a bedroom. And as there hasn't been any question about consent the only legal question is who released the tape and indeed who filmed it if as Big Poppa says he (or the girl) didn't give consent for the filming.
People may bring up Mitch Pearce and what about him and that's right what about him. I think if he would've challenged The NRL they may have found they had nothing to stand on with him either - though there was the dog, who was non-consenting, that might have been a technicality.
Big Poppa's gonna have to live with the embarrassment and his nick-name which will stick and maybe he'll come to love one day, who knows (there could be worse). But that's where it ends.

The reason why this story could get huge is that remember it's only recently where NSW passed "revenge porn" laws. The leaker really has put themselves in a very dangerous position because there's jail time in this if the cops charge them.
And The Big Papa wants him charged.
