FMD......what absolute dog vomit. Some idealogical morons at FFA land more concerned with a few upset 'sisters' within the Matilda's scene than winning a World Cup. These 'crusaders' and self appointed guardians of sporting morality at the FFA can go fuck themselves. Every workplace has these types. They dig for every non existent, tiny or irrelevant issue to justify themselves and screech from the top of their voices until they get their way. God help you if you dare question them. We've just blown the best chance of ever winning a senior WC. The bond, culture, mentality, confidence the Matilda's have built up the past 2-3 years has been broken, no amount of spin can say otherwise. Ratings, crowds, interest, sponsors are all dropping off, the game is a shambles. Winning a women's WC or going very close is the type of thing that would have given the game a massive boost. Instead the self destruct button has been pressed yet again.

I thought (and posted) that the changes that were recommended prior to the new board being installed were flawed and could lead to massive issues with the governance of the A-League, so on that basis I opposed the changes.  But not in my wildest dreams did I foresee how destructive one individual with an agenda could be to football in Australia.  As much as I understand your careful what you wish for and you reap what you sow stance, I have a couple of questions for you.

How do you wholeheartedly defend a board you yourself think shouldn't be there?
Shouldn't you be filling your boots and going hell for leather at the new board whilst still reminding the forum that the FIFA approved "remedy" has lead to this?

You don't have to defend anything other than ensuring the hysteria doesn't get in the way of facts and sound policies and offer a balance account of affairs that may not be to the liking of the haters and those with a different view.

As for the FIFA intervention, wasn't it what most here wanted?

What's that saying I heard from somewhere............reap etc etc.

First they came for Tony Abbot, and I did not speak out for him—because I was against Abbott's policies anyway.
Then they came for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, and I did not speak out— because I was not into U.S politics and believed what the woman said without needing evidence.
Then they came for Donald Trump, and I did not speak out— because I was not into U.S politics and I believed 100% of what the media said about Trump.
Then they came for Alen Stajcic, and I did not speak out—because I never think to question what is fed to me by the main news media.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I'm starting to think that the FFA grossly over-estimated the public support they would receive for Stajcic's sacking.  People want equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome.  They want procedural justice and fairness   This is the opposite of what the current gender equality movement offers.

In comes Heather Reid with a survey where two or three respondents have used made up gender political phrases, she sees this as her opportunity to push her agenda, the FFA shit themselves because they know how #metoo works ie guilty if they say you are and no come back, and they go along with her.  You know this is true as Reid herself can't understand what's wrong with how Stajcic was sacked.

"Journalists referring cryptically to a situation that they couldn't quite reveal but that supported the Australian federation's side."

"We're raised to believe that media is the truth seekers and truth tellers, but in reality, their career gets ahead if they are in with the right people, and most media won't bite the hand that feeds them. In the sense that Federations hold a lot of clout and power, and most media will twist and taint story lines, or not report at all, to be able to maintain their own position within the hierarchy.

When I started to read on twitter of Australian journalists throwing out a narrative supporting the federation, but not quite being able to say the why's, this gave me deja vu to other situations I've seen in the past, where the federation wants to control the narrative and the media is all too happy to stay on the right side of the powers that be."

https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/the-ugly-side-of-women-s-football

From the above quotes, I think Ciara Mccormack's reference to journalists -- siding with FFA, but not reveal details -- she was referring to Lucy Zelic.

For example, see this article:
https://www.theroar.com.au/2019/01/22/if-youre-in-the-know-and-on-twitter-stajcics-sacking-makes-total-sense/

Pretty extraordinary that the above article is on the sbs website and pretty brutally attacks Lucy zelic without naming her.  Another one by hasset on there more polite but also directly opposing what she said.
Must be pretty frosty at sbs right now

@ Dan.....yep, we are under attack alright. Long term agenda is to destroy families; turn every woman into a deranged man hating feminist and that mission becomes more and more successful . Thank you for posting the YT link. And men, do you wish to swallow the blue pill or the red pill....the choice is yours.

Good article from Bossi - https://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/inside-the-matildas-dressing-room-that-led-to-stajcic-s-sacking-20190125-p50tlk.html

Takes a more holistic approach and considers some potential elements which could accumulate to being 'toxic'. The big take away is at the end, the players have lost faith in the FFA as well.

Nah, what the players say doesn’t matter. Just remember, “If you knew what Lucy Zelic knows ....”
Seriously, nothing there is cause for a sacking, but one question it raises is “Why is GVE still in his role if he was part of the environment, AND players see him as divisive?”

Hey derider

derider, noun ,
person who laughs at pours scorn or contempt; scoffs or jeers at; mocks.

If you scroll up through the comments, another person liked it. So you know how it is in life where you have to learn you can't please everyone? Well, your role in life is to teach people that they should not care a stuff if people like you don't like it.

Imagine going through life knowing that is the role that you are fulfilling?

You know how you meet some nice people, and you also meet nasty people that specialise in derision? Well, your role is to balance the other awesomely great people I've met.

Now, that, is, an embarrassment.

Yep, the article makes sense.

However, much as the players have privately and publicly praised Stajcic and expressed their dismay at his sacking, they have also spoken of an atmosphere poisoned by the actions and attitudes of a small handful of influential people - one key player and some staff members.

X2. Stajcic got the sack only because he told the players to room in separate dorms when in camp. Two Matilda's, in a relationship with each other, took exception to this and went to the PFA. Reid, having long advocated for female roles, used this complaint as her chance to sack Stajcic. Our Watch survey being the ruse.

The select media pre briefed, well aware of the anti male sentiment used by their bosses, played their role.

Interesting that all Matilda's coaches bar van Edmond, have quit. Also note van Edmond daughter still in Matilda's team.
