https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/feb/05/search-for-matildas-coach-ramps-up-as-alen-stajcic-mulls-options

Question: If the FFA paid out Stajcic's contract and they are now hiring a new coach, why is the FFA burning so much money?

Even more importantly, of all the burning issues the new FFA board is currently facing (eg tv viewers collapsing, attendances, expansion, 2nd div, etc) why would this be the most pressing item needing attention?

Makes you wonder what sort of deals were done in the negotiations for board positions and if a certain board member (who may or may not be absent due to illness) required this be done as part of her votes. When you look at Gallops comment to AS (ie you are F'd) it makes more sense

Once the nominations were in her position was guaranteed due to quotas; she would have had an enormous amount of political power to bargain with at that point.

It must have felt like she had a royal flush in her hand and everyone else was going all in.

I propose that this thread eventually be placed on the top group of permanent threads ... until Stajcic's case is resolved. It would be a shame if it gets swept under the carpet, and the powerful forces get away with it.

Even in Australia, when some current affairs program highlights some injustice, everybody sees it, says "Oh, isn't that awful" - and then goes back to their daily life.

This is what they're hoping will happen with this. And given that it is football - not exactly a life and death situation for most people -- the chances are, they will get away with it.

There is a lot of injustice in the world. Ultimately, no one gets away with anything. There is justice, either in this lifetime, or the next.

many people get away with a lot of things, Karma is there as a boost to ego, to make the passives feel better about themselves.
The only way to get to honesty is that Stajcic goes legal, otherwise it's always grey and agendas will be met in the end.
I think it's inevitable.

In bonafide unfair dismissal cases the employee or his representative virtually immediately formally notifies the employer of their intention to challenge. No such notice to my understanding has taken place which tells the story.

Give Staj's Lawyer some time to prepare paperwork. Fair Work Australia allows 21 days to lodge paperwork.

Seriously. You are a FFA employee. Don't hide it. Which one though?

You don’t need to put a case forward just notice of intent to challenge.

Did he say his lawyer is preparing his case? But you know right?

"The 45-year-old coach, in charge of the Matildas for the past four years, is reportedly heartbroken by the situation, has retained legal advice and is going over his options."

Thats total BS, you do not need to advise them immediately, if you want FWA to review it needs to be within 21 days. Secondly based on the value of his pay and position, it is unlikely FWA would hear this case anyway so it will go to a proper court irrespective.

Next, he wasn't dismissed, he had the remainder of his contract paid out (understood to be 9 months). This can be done in numerous ways, including what they call "gardening leave" which basically means you are still an employee and bound by all the  terms of your employment (ie confidentiality) but you do not have any authority or responsibility and are unable to wok anywhere else.  If you do get a new job you have to resign and there is no payout. Chelsea is currently doing something similar with Conte.

Based on the lack of feedback from him I suggest his is on something similar to gardening leave and his legal options would then only be limited to liable, which is also why FFA is not giving any details as they dont want to get sued.

This is fairly normal practice in the corporate world, which is to be expected when you look at who's running the FFA.

I doubt their is much of a case regarding the termination and paying out of Stajcic's contract - it would be surprising if that was not in accordance with his employment contract.  That is an everyday occurrence in business.
However, the legal eagles will be looking closely at the fact that at least one FFA Board member and some journos were subsequently publicizing (possibly baseless) 'stories' suggesting he was homophobic and a bully, that have clearly damaged his reputation and future career and earnings potential.

Almost spat out my coffee reading this:
"If there were complaints about any of our coaches, whether it was Lis or Jitka or previously Ray [Junna], I would expect those complaints be dealt with in a fair and honest manner,'' Reid said. "We would sit down and discuss with the players and the staff and try and mediate our way through this, and I'm not sure this process has been put in place by the FFA.''

Heather - 4 years ago you seemed to know how it should work?  Or was your mediation model only for female coaches?

It's a difficult subject to discuss given her current health battle but the dots are all joining up to this being orchestrated by Reid. This thing is getting bigger by the day and the FFA have some serious decisions to make, fast, as the Matildas brand which reached such great heights under Stajic is fast become a basket case and symbol of their incompetency.

=he Matildas brand which reached such great heights under Stajic is fast become a basket case and symbol of their incompetency.

It's symbolic of the larger picture of how Left Wing ideology has become entrenched in all the halls of power, in academia, the media, politics, and now - as we are seeing - in sports.

I realise that even on this forum there'll be many people who vote Left Wing, but all I can say is, there are negative consequences for ideas that are fundamentally flawed.

..it all makes you wonder whats next ?
Will players in future who are dropped for whatever reason have the right to claim the coach is bullying them or not giving them a chance ?
Will the "halftime hairdryer " be outlawed and be replaced by "consultative reasoning" ?
Team Sport is not a democracy...it is a meritocracy...and by its nature is ruled by replaceable dictators ...if a coach doesn't like you he can choose not to play you for any reason ...or none at all....his choice ..he only retains his power at the whim of his Club which is based (normally) on results ....(and for all the "virtue signallers" on here you may insert "her" into the above wherever it makes you feel comfortable )

This paradigm appears to be changing ....results are not important anymore it seems....it is about how happy the players and other coaches are in their jobs ....

Here's the latest installment from TWG.

https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/frustrated-stajcic-still-in-dark-over-matildas-axing

The headline reads, "Frustrated Stajcic still in dark over Matildas axing"

The reason I'm still upset about this -- injustice happens everywhere -- is that I've grown to be a big fan of the Matildas. It's a shock that a bloke can visually identify so many of the Matildas players during their games, as well as I can spot all the Socceroos players.

It cuts me when I see gross injustice being carried out, and a man being rolled by the media and sporting empires. Nothing is new. Sepp Blater gets away with it. The next host of the World Cup gets away with it. The world is unfair. I just hate it when it is so blatant.
