+x@RossL I’m not ignoring anything, as discussed in a previous thread they’re not capturing Telstra or Kayo (or Optus Sports for that matter) leaving us pretty much in the dark still. And to the specific question that started this topic again, the OzTAM numbers don’t include streaming (I.e. Foxtel GO) Well they better start counting streaming numbers because the foxtel is as good as dead and buried. Both my dad & brother in law canceled last year and now stream and when NBN finally comes to my neighborhood in July. I will be canceling foxtel and going Kayo, with Netflix and Optus . I'm just waiting, this will be happening all over Australia, foxtel as we know it will be dead in 5 years.

The average of the 74 data points that I have for this season is 41k. With 27 data points missing and almost all of them at the lower end of the spectrum the actual average is lower than the 41k.

That's really good considering the rain in the Northern Territory.

+x+xOzTAM are trying to figure out how they do including streaming but the problem they’ve got is not everything comes down the same route to a tv. They have figured it out, it is called VPM ratings and they've been around for over a year yet you're intent to ignore them. Foxtel Now is included. https://reports.oztam.com.au/#/liveThis week they also started releasing demographic breakdowns. Kayo is not because they haven't implemented the OzTam tech. That cant be right, it doesnt show all the millions of HAL viewers that are streaming content and causing the shite tv ratings........oh wait

+xNo you’re not. The sampling figures only come from the monitoring boxes in target homes which doesn’t cover streaming. OzTAM are trying to figure out how they do including streaming but the problem they’ve got is not everything comes down the same route to a tv. Some comes direct to a mobile device, others via the wifi to a tablet. It maybe they change their monitoring point to capture the internet traffic as well as the tv which will go some way to addressing this but still won’t capture mobile data which, when 5G rolls out, will likely become the predominant broadcast medium. one less viewer then because i will be watching on foxtel now instead of thy old foxtel

+x+x+x+xI think the HAL should be doing better given the budgets and spend. The spend is miniscule in the world of football. It is, but NPLV gets one fifth of the HAL viewers and I'm sure its spend is much less than one fifth of what the HAL spends. I don't think "streaming reach" = "average viewers" (or whatever the Fox ratings represent) Stream starts generally average 20-30 minutes viewing time on other platforms for live sport. So 44K starts converts into 22K hours at most which is about 11K average viewers. That's probably overstating it. Total minutes viewed would give a more complete picture-wouldn't surprise me if it was under 10K hours. FB, if 1600 uniques each watch for 30 minutes that is 400 hours, times 9 games is 3.6K hours-again probably less than that though. If a HAL game rates 20K, that is like 40K hours.

I know a few people that were watching the NPL stream, news is getting around so expect numbers to go up this weekend. A few guys I know actually streamed the NPL to their TV instead of watching HAL on fox. We were at a match and used the youtube stream to rewind a goal we missed, which was great. Can only see this growing.

+x+x+xI don't think "streaming reach" = "average viewers" (or whatever the Fox ratings represent) yeah the terminology needs to be explained better. what is "unique viewers?" Literally different viewers - so of the 10k people who watched the NPL on Youtube, most of them watched about 4 matches over the weekend. Not mammoth numbers, but it's a start - shows there is an appetite for live football. The coverage is definitely very amateurish so that might turn some people off it, but the flipside is that it makes it very cheap to produce. I'm also curious as to how they're pumping the coverage out from these grounds? Do these NPL grounds have a broadband connection to their media boxes? Or are they using a 4G modem? Would be great if we could offer the best possible support for these clubs as they maximise revenue streams. Also remember that it was shown on FB and YouTube. It's a really good start!

+xStill pretty good for what it is. Yeah exactly, as is the a-league, comparing either of them to AFL or Rugby League is petty.

+x+xWe would all be going in the one direction if we had pro/rel. The times would not clash, it would be organised from the top tier to the bottom. Yet, here we are with a pile of shit. no, you've missed my point. if SM can get 18,000 people streaming, surely HAL clubs can get much more. They didn't, the entire round got 10k unique viewers. Maybe 3k of that were watching South.
