That display was an absolute disgrace.  Get the new coach in ASAP so he can start dealing with this crap.

The only positive of last night is DWH is showing he a legit attacking threat and actually has consistency. Also can score from anywhere.

The rest is horrible I wonder if we even get 5k to a game by the end of season. Never seen the crowd so ambivalent to roar like this.

we had 89 minutes of shite football last night, some of the worst we’ve ever played imo. But that goal was pretty good, a nine pass movement from deep in our own half finished with a superb strike.

It’s just what followed was utterly gutless.

I just cant fathom how a coach trying to get credibility can totally ignore defence week after week.Yes the senior players are devoid of defensive effort half the time. But look at the defensive structure, thats if you can find it.Who teaches for half the team to leave gaping holes in midfield?
Where's the linked structure that moves as one and minimises space?
McKay and Lopez last night were cluless and wouldnt tackle.
The forwards obviously thought they werent supposed to track back and stood up high for the first goal watching the goal, with noone in midfield?
Leck comes on at RB and is tackling players and winning the ball on the right side and busting a gut to get back in position and the visa players are plodding around ?
When i saw Henrique,Lopez and McKay in midfield I thought DD was taking the piss. Not one of them can tackle .
Not one of the visa players was interested.
Bautheac kept sending pass after pass to the opposition under no pressure and couldnt give a rats.
Henrique was pretty hopeless as well, along with most of the team.
The backs were generally ok.But Pepper still gets caught out of postion or making the wrong decision, hence marking emplty space as Bonevacia strolled into gaping space.Yes Lopez was nowhere! Is he really any faster than TK?
And with all this DD keeps picking senior players who dont try.Yet youngsters come on and bust a gut !
This is going to get worse. We have conceded 3 and 4 against the tenth and eight teams!
MV put 5 past us last time.
We have thre CB's....Put one as DM next game as a start.they can all play there.
We need a DM.

That’s a pretty good summary.

And it’s hard to see what they’re trying to achieve going out of this season ... other than going through the motions.

All the backs (Pepper, Tongyik and Bowles) are squad fillers not starters

I feel this has to be the lowest point in this clubs history. It's getting to the stage where I personally cant be bothered making the effort to go watch this tripe at the ground anymore. I think I am done for this season. After the DWH goal, the remaining 80mins was garbage. I'll watch it on TV, at least that way I can turn the TV off and not waste any more of my time.

Call me a plastic/fair weather fan if you want but I have better things to do then watch this cr@p for the next 6 weeks or however long is left. I'll get my memberships next season again in hope of a coach and squad that can at least perform to an acceptable level.

I don’t think anyone can be blamed for staying away. Roar opened this season to two 15,000 crowds then messed it up from there with crap football, losing football, no discipline and no pride in the shirt. . It’s a wonder anyone turns up.

The worst thing about watching Roar is the stress.Who needs that?..If players arent trying drop them...

On a better note, the coaching candidates...Robinson,DeJong amd Warburton...arent that bad..

Warburton has actually got Brentwood promoted to the Championship and won the Championship with Rangers in Scotland.
Robinson has got a Canadian Football team to 3rd out of 28 in the MLS and DeJong managed 5th out of 18 in the Eredivisie.

I actually found last night totally stress free. Watched the game with a friend I hadnt seen for a couple of months and we just chatted for 90 minutes surrounded by a somber stadium, getting nothing more or less than expected on the park for the last 85 minutes. Never watched a roar game and felt so ambivalent to the game or the result. Ho hum.

I don't really stress or get angry anymore, past that stage, accepted that we are crap but can score some good goals every now and then. That was actually the first time Roar took the lead this season, which says it all really.

The game was boring and it showed.....you could hear a pin drop for most of the game....the Den may as well have stayed at the Pub. I am normally a big fan of their efforts but the other night I had to keep checking visually that they were still there ... when your "active" fans become "inactive" the club has a problem.
My fear now is we will end up with Fowler as head coach ....I have no confidence in that idea at all.

Its a risky strategy for any club to run out more than half a season with a fill in coach amd watch the whole club disintergrate. With the squad JA had assembled there was virtually no chance anyone succeeding him could do better and even less when that fill in coach has no top grade experience..
It's a sad situation for DD.He never wanted to be the coach.Never had the skill and experience to coach at the top .Never chose assistants and never chose the squad. So he was always going to be a big loser.
Although it makes sense to take time to choose a new coach,it is taking way too long and indicates no system was in place to source a new coach, before the coach was 'sacked'.
I expect this situation is common for most clubs .But shows a level of amateurism and indifference ,knowing there is no relegation.

Agree. Guarantee that if the club thought there was any chance of finals or any consequence for continuing to be shite, they would have had the new coach on board weeks ago. It is a sad indictment of the club and the state of the game that the club can be totally indifferent to more than half a season.

Agree with what you guys are saying.

I see similarities between Brisbane Roar and the Federal Liberal Party.

People deserting the sinking ship.

Polies jumping off the Morrison Govt. sinking ship and players jumping off Roar sinking ship.

We've lost Taggart and Papa and Bautheac likely to go, Young?

Replaced with Babalj, Loko and Tongjik. Not exactly the most exciting recruits tho I'm hopeful in Tonjiks case.

As for Fowler, yes Miron I just don't know? I'm hopeful tho, as he was an awesome player.

He at least could be able to atttact a better quality of import one imagines.

Youd have to imagine he would gey get the respect and enthusiasm from players way more than Aloisi could ever have dreamed for.

I think you guys overestimate what a club can do in the A League once things go wrong.

Overseas you can go and offer a transfer fee to temp a club to release a player, or you can offer a player more money to join you, or you can put a player on the transfer list in the hope someone buys him, of you can swop a player with another club, or send a player (of any age) out on loan to make space.

In Australia non of the above is possible.

Aloisi started the season with 23/23 squad players, so there was no room to sign anyone (Victory often start with 21/23).

You can’t exceed the salary cap on $$$ either, so running at 99% of the cap you can’t exactly sign good players.

So you can’t transfer players out, you can’t loan them out, you can’t transfer or loan them in.

Imagine how different the second half of our season would have been if we could have more than 23 players and spend more than $3m on salaries?

It’s the FFA way that’s fucked this.

You can do what's in bold.

Even if there's no HAL club that wants a Roar player on loan, I'm sure a Malaysian, Indonesian, Filipino or Thai club would.

You can only loan players out under a certain age (23?)

But you get the point. Get it wrong at the start of the season and you’re pretty cooked if you want to make wholesale changes.

We all hear what your saying Waz and likely all agree.

Hiwever you would imagine that in a pro club situation it makes sense not to lay your cards on the table straight up at the beginning of the season, so to speak. In addition it makes sense to leave a couple spots free to give you room to move if necessary, sit on 20/ 21 players and use youth from the bench if necessary.

Then there's room to move if you have difficiences anywhere, like a 6 or 10 or a centre back, ect etc.

What Waz says is true. But imagine what would happen if relegation was a possibility. There would be a lot more urgency i am sure.
I am sure a new coach would have tried to move players on and recruit some new ones.
At the very least they would try and improve the defence rather than play with gay abandon knowing results dont really matter.

Two questions.
1. Why was Avraam let go?
2. Is there really no defender in the world who is better than Bowles and not currently under contract?

Farks sake, how many good players do you think are out of contract mid-season? And would be prepared to relocate to Australia for a few months (3?) just to see our season out and then maybe have to move back again?? and to do it on a pittance of a salary just to fit our cap??? Oh, and play for an interim manager and when the real one arrives you might be out on your ear sooner??? Oh, and they’d need to hold an Australian passport as our visa allocations are full.

We can play should have/would have football all we like but the reality is, if you fuck up your squad in October there’s little you can do to recover it in January.

If we scraped the cap, both number of players and salary value, introduced a full loan system, and transfer fees you might have a chance ... but with only 9 domestic teams to pick from the options are limited.

How good would it be with a 16 team HAL, 16 team Div 2, and 100+ NPL sides to farm from? Even then, you’d need pro/rel yo motivate clubs

I simply dont get what DD is doing, on the defensive side, it is absolutely clear that our defence is severely lacking in organisation. bowles and pepper are clearly not up to it, we have a  youth team that conceded 8 goals all season, who in their finals campaign were heralded for how organised they were, we already have one (powel) of them playing and more than holding his own in the top team, and reardon has shown he is no mug at this level either. just swap the other two and you have a defensive line that is organised and know each other, ready to play.

on the WSW game, how in the fuck did we not just run at Kamaou and Majok all night. Kamaou is not a defender, he had no idea how to defend, and Majok is NPL level at best. in the first 10 minutes DWH turned kamaou inside out and scored, then we decided we would not play down that side for the rest of the game. it blows the mind, you have a clear weakness down that side and we completely ignored it.
