Waz do you have any idea how long DWH's contract is for. the press release only says committed his long term future to BRFC so you would think it is more than a single year.

A while ago it was said he signed for 2 and a half years, so end of 2021 season. Just going off this web site, though, so it may not be correct.

Yeah, Wenzel-Halls got a 2 1/2 year contract - so to the end of this season then 2 more seasons.
I heard Bowles triggered a clause that gets him a years extension as well.

Lucky Bowles had that clause cause I would no way in the world sign him an extension.
If if I had to have him I'd say mate, you won't bd playing under me so might as well move on.

Well the coaching situation is getting interesting ..some are saying Fowler ,some are saying Robinson...now the World Game is saying Kurz is favourite....I am not inspired by any of them ...guess we will see what happens next ? Link : http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au

There are zero quotes coming out of the club, so everything is pretty much speculation, and Kurz though is wanted out of Adelaide so not necessarily wanted in Brisbane.
My bet is whoever is chosen there will be plenty of upset people - 2 shite years will do that.

Would love Kurz tbh. Guy knows how to win games. With a bit more money at Brisbane than what he’s had at Adelaide, he’d be good for us.

You’d hope they at least looked at him. But that last article with the 3-4 names in it is probably the “list” and Kurz name wasn’t in it. Adelaide seem to want him out for some reason and this is probably his agent trying to force things

Any of these are better than the Aloisi twins.
Well who are we all gonna be happy with, in a dream world. Pep, Rafa, Ole, Klop.
we gotta be realistic I think, I'll take Robbie, Kurz, Robinson, how long does it take FFs.

I suppose if it is Kurz, we may not hear anything until the end of the season. I'd expect if it is one of the others, the club would want to announce soon to start generating hype for next season and trying to beg for members to come back.

I don’t see why they need to beg members to come back? Poor seasons happen all the time for football clubs ... but I guess some people like hitting the busses early 😩

They'd also want to announce the new manager soon to aid in the recruitment of players. With Western United joining, stocks for decent Aussie players is going to be thinner than usual.

I am more saying that it would make sense for the club to come out and say "Hey, this season has been bad and we take responsibility, but we have now brought in X new coach who is going to turn things around next season so keep the faith and come back/keep coming", hence wanting to announce it sooner rather than later.

Doubt that would make much of a difference to be honest, to me at least, heard all the apologies and excuses before. I haven't been a member for 3 years now, for me to come back I need to see the change not hear them talk about change. Seeing Wenzell Halls finally getting his time and Powell has been the highlight for me this season. The new coach needs to do a big clean out at the end of this season, if I see mckay get another contract I aint coming back that is for sure. The imports need to all bring something to the team that no other Australian can bring, no point having them if an aussie equivalent can do just as good a job.

If its Kurtz it would be interesting to see who follows him?Goodwin and Isias? Considering the low caliber backs and strikers AU have ,you would hope that with decent backs ,DWH and some marqueeshe could do quite well .Plus he demands high energy and likes the fast wingers. Anyway all options appear better than JA. How about Kurzt and Brioche as assistant? That would be like a bad guy, good guy combo.

I don't know about those two, however they'd be great. Goodwin would stay, head to a bigger A-L club, or go overseas. Isaias was at Adelaide beforehand so I don't know if he's got loyalty to the manager so to speak. By god we need a player like him though. Somebody to mop up and also dictate terms.

There’s no one in the Adelaide side I’d take to be honest, not even Goodwin.

Part of the problem was JA keeping McKay meant he was keeping a good DM out of the team.So JA probably didnt look as hard for a DM. Lopez was never a DM,but JA thought that with TK he had enough cover. But both Lopez and TK are probably the slowest players in the HAL.

Mckay is not THE problem this year., it’s been a squad hiring thing right with few players performing well.
There’s a good article in the Guardian today questioning the role of agents and it would be interesting to know how many players signed at Roar share agents with JA, there’s been whispers for a while.

I don't mind him staying with the club in some fashion but not on the field, he should have retired a couple years ago in my opinion. I don't want him starting nor do I wan't him coming on a sub, I'm sorry but he is past it, 36 going on 37 next season. Just my opinion of course.

McKay is not the problem so to speak, but his place in the squad is problematic. The rest of the squad is not set up to accommodate him. He’s not an AM, he’s not a wide mid, he’s not an enforcer, he’s not a playmaker. The only valid spot for him is as a 2nd DM, but he can’t play that role with Calletti because they are too poor defensively together. So every time McKay plays DM it stops Calletti playing. The best we’ve looked is when McKay played CB. Perhaps that’s worth another go?

I think him Pepper, Powel and ?? would do no worse than what we've seen recently. WOuld also free up space for Calletti to get some games into him for next year.

Kurz quoted as
“Kurz said he’s not spoken to anyone at Roar about the coaching job”
But yeah, he’s firming as “the favourite” according to SBS.

+xCaletti will likely be gone next year. Otherwise they’d be playing him more I think I'm in the minority here, but I've never been able to see what some others apparently see in Caletti. To me he is pretty much a nothing footballer - can't tackle and generally weak defensively, doesn't have a physical presence and doesn't impose himself on a game by directing play, no long passing game (that I've seen), poor in the air (not surprising with his size), haven't seen him shoot effectively or otherwise threaten to score, and while his short passing is OK (as should most players be at this level) I haven't noticed any incisive passing that sets up an attack.

In this formation he doesnt really have a spot that he excels in (neither does Mckay in my opinion). what he excels in is being a link between a DM and an AM or from side to side. He gets off the shoulder of his defender and has speed of ball movement. if you have a DM breaking up play and an AM as your creative player then he is the perfect link. same if you have a Deep lying play maker and a more attacking or box to box AM he is a very good link between the lines. i think his speed of ball movement, and speed between the ears is his strength.
