It's headed by Ita Buttrose ffs :D

Numerous reports - conducted by conservatives themsleves have concluded no left bias - so not sure in whose head it is.
Sure the ABC has plenty of limpy inner-city twaddle and has gone downhill but a left bias is unfounded.

So you’re not refuting my statement at all then?

A few points

A- He released those words after every terrorist attack?
B - I tried searching the piece and in no way does he condone terrorism. Can you point out in that statement where he does? This article suggest no condoning at all, in fact the opposite
https://www.smh.com.au/opinion/bomb-response-refreshingly-honest-20130418-2i2tn.html

And you also left off the next line 'Perhaps we're learning to avoid being sucked into terrorism's radicalising vortex'.

A. He made the statement after multiple attacks had occurred, not after each attack. Imagine if a conservative had said similar words after Christchurch? Twitter meltdown. Double standards.
B. Where did I say he condoned terrorism? I simply stated what he actually said - which implied that terrorism is really nothing to worry about ...
But now all of a sudden he is worried about it ... now why is that?

Oh and let’s not forget his attempt to portray the Boston bombing as the work of “self-styled American patriots”
when in fact they were motivated by extremist Islamic beliefs (as per the confession of one of the perpetrators).

But Waleed is a great voice Islam and the left so can’t be critiqued by the media, without the usual ‘racist’ slurs being dragged out.

Actually this is what Waleed Aly said about terrorism after multiple Islamic terrorist attacks.
“In its place is a far more sober, pragmatic recognition that terrorism is a perpetual irritant, and that while it is tragic and emotionally lacerating, it kills relatively few people and is not any kind of existential threat.”
His view seems somehow different now. Hmmm.

This thread is like parliament ...you have people from both sides of politics trying to convince the other to change views they have probably held all their lives .

What do you think your chances of making that happen are ?

I notice too that when people on forums discuss politics they always try to make out the opposing view is held by a cretin.
Sorry guys .....but there are very intelligent people on both sides ...however to me.... the further you go to one side or the other.....the intelligence quotient lessens.

@ clockwork orange.

You’ve shifted the argument.

He stated that he is worried about the rise of white supremacy. Which is understandable considering the piece you quote is over 5 years old so not relevant then.

And he has not shifted his opinion that terrorism is something that is not danger to most people.

However the fall out from a rise in the far right is. Not sure about those statements which is bad or untrue.

I don’t even watch his show or care for him but many just look for their own angle to pursue against him.

The interesting thing is that when someone of Egyptian ancestry says he’s worried by white supremacist terrorists the media fawns all over him - what a guy. But if someone of white-Anglo background says they are worried about Islamic terrorism they are branded Islamophobic, racist, white supremacists. Interesting world we live in where the progressive left and the UN, side with the world’s most anti-woman, anti-gay countries/cultures over the countries/cultures that facilitate their freedom to be progressive.

I despise the far right.

And detest the far left.

I despise the far right because of their intolerance, lies and misinformation.

I detest the far left because of their intolerance, lies and misinformation.

Common to both their ignorance and lack of knowledge

The far right often uneducated and so are unwittingly ignorant

The far left are often educated and so are willfully ignorant.

You do realize that "white supremacy" is actually a reaction to the leftist policies of globalization, and open borders immigration of groups that do not assimilate in to Western nations?  Brexit, Trump were created by these policies.

Many Westerners have been left behind by these polices.  The left somehow thinks that they can ignore them and their needs. Just de-platform them and it will go away Hundreds of millions of people will do nothing. That's how stupid the left is.

When was the last time feminists actually came out and called out Islam for the way it controls muslim women?  The head clothing is nothing other than means to control women.   Nope.  Their number one enemy is The White Male.  You know the that being who pays for pretty much all of the things that create the sort of society that allows feminists to blame White Males for everything bad that's ever happened to them.

True. It is about retaining a nations sovereignty which many developed western nations politicians have sold out to the globalists. Yet the left will label you as a Neo Nazi white supremisct for pointing out this fact. The leftists blab on about equality, freedom of speech and tolerance for those who share differing views but then are quick to condemn anyone(namely white males) who supports national sovereignty.  The irony and hypocrisy is astounding. They have been programmed well.

That is exactly what I'm talking about!  That is nothing more than act of virtue signalling. A fricken twitter campaign to help one Saudi  girl.

Western feminist are more interested in twitter campaigns which are really more about them  than  making any real difference to the lives of billions of oppressed women living under oppressive Islam and in India ( burning brides and gang rapes anyone) and Africa ( genital mutilation)  Denounce Islam. Denounce Indian culture.  Denounce Africans and they will have my respect.

There was an SBS doco by a UK feminist academic filming programs skills and education programs in India for little girls.  She came several years later to check up the progress of one girl who had dreams and aspirations.  What she found was a 12-13 year old girl who was supporting her disabled father and who recently was struggling with her safety because she being propositioned by Indian men on the streets.  The penny dropped-she admitted how totally ignorant she was of the real challenges young Indian face because she projected her life as a Western woman on to the girls she was interviewing.

That is making a real difference. It saved that girls life as well as raising awareness about how Saudi women are treated.  It also reflects poorly on the Saudi government and could well inspire more Saudi women to flee. If the Saudi government keeps recieving backlash and women keep leaving, then they will eventually have no choice but to stop treating women as second class citizens.

You are saying all Islam is bad. This is not true and incredibly ignorant which is why no one will denounce it. Sure the extremists should be denounced, and will be denounced, just like the extremists in every religion should be denounced.

As for burning brides, gang rapes and genital mutilation (both male (unless an adult agrees to be circumcised) and female) should be and is condemned.
