This. First came people who disapproved of Goodes' style of play, THEN came the racial slurs.

How many white people have been booed like this for their style of play?

"The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence" - Charles Bukowski

Keep this quote in mind when you start seeing intense opinions coming from 'the other side'. With social media and forums like this, people have the ability to make their voice heard simply because they feel like it. This has been a good thing in many ways, but it has also lead to each side's most confident and stupid people being the public representation of every major argument. They're the people who define what the sides are in the first place, so they completely shape the conversation.

This isn't true of every person arguing confidently, but for every one person whose confidence comes from evidence and critical thinking, there are ten who are reverse engineering their logic to fit what instinctively feels right to them.

Since the inception of the VFL? Plenty of players have been critiscised for their style of play. AS FTB pointed out, first people were critical of how Goodes' played, the racial slurs came after. Disliking how a footy player plays the game and disliking a footy player for the colour of his skin are two separate things. In this instance, some people saw the fomer as justification for the latter.

There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

Identitarian and authoritarian is what they are. They believe that violence is the only way to bring about the changes they want to see.

I'd say most serious jounalists around the world lean towards the left, although most try to keep their personal view out of reporting. O'brian tbf was a press officer which a lot of political journalists are at one point or PR, and he hasn't been at the ABC for 5 years

I’d say it’s like any other industry - if you can’t cut it in the commercial world, you work for the Public Service/ABC.

I asked who has been booed like this who is white, not who has been criticised. White dirty players over the years have become cult figures and heroes and goodes nowhere near as dirty as them.

The simple fact is, no white player has been booed like he was.

Reading George Orwell's books taught me many, many things. One of which was keeping the masses occupied with football and beer.

" Far right politics in Australia, how it affects Australian football " is something to write your dissertation on. To try to isolate it to one country and the concept of equality via politics is too big an ask'

its amazing how many poeple get communism and socialism mixed up. Bernie is not a communist. Communism is not the natural outcome of the Far Left. Its hilarious to suggest that. Democratic Socialism is the natural outcome for a leftie such as myself. And while people will refuse to admit this, Australia is in many ways a Socialist Democracy.

Its the same shit wrapped in different paper.  Socialism is but a stepping stone to Communism.

There's only one difference between capitalism and all the other socialist/communist derivatives.  And that's personal incentive.  Everything else is detail.  Socialism/Communism fail because they deny that incentive.

What Australia does is it treads a fine line between giving enough workers incentive for personal betterment, and skim some of their wealth  to support the rest who don't give a rats.  I don't what you call that, but that's what it is.

1.What a bunch of waffle.  It's a simple yes or no.

2.Do you think the Christchurch shooting were a false flag or staged operation?

3.And it is important we know what you think because judgements are made on people's mental state based on what sort of batshit things they believe.

4.If you believe shape-shifting reptillians are the illuminati and are running a world government then the chances are I'm not going to take serious anything that comes out of your head.

5.As for calling me an approval junkie listen to you.  Teasing out little dribs as if you're the only one  not drinking the kool-aid.  Look at me I know better than all you MSM brainwashed sheeple.

1. It is waffle to YOU because you lack the capacity to ‘think’ outside of the ‘prism created for your mind’🤯
2. I will tell you what i don’t think;
and that’s the official story. you mean to tell me that you believe every word of the official story...honestly.....
3. Batshit according to who😆..you & others like you....what happened to your leftist views of ‘everyone is entitled to an opinion’...
4. What, you mean they are not ?😮..😆
5. Teasing out little dribs? ....more like giving you the keys to unlock the ‘critical thinking’ vaults that both inhabit and inhibit your mind. I’m not forcing you to use them.

Truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self evident.

A desire to feel special and unique.  Sounds familiar.

https://www.livescience.com/63658-why-people-believe-conspiracy-theories.html

Schizotypy is the strongest predictor of conspiracy belief. In addition to experiencing the world in unusual ways, we found that people higher in schizotypy have an elevated need to feel unique, which has previously been linked with conspiracism. Why? Probably because believing in non-mainstream ideas allows people to stand out from their peers, but at the same time take refuge in a community of like-minded believers.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4373633/

https://cosmosmagazine.com/society/faking-reality-why-people-embrace-conspiracy-theories

In a 2016 paper exploring the link between schooling and conspiracy theories, published in the journal Applied Cognitive Psychology, researcher Jan-Willem van Prooijen from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the Netherlands says well-educated people are less likely to believe in them.

He cites three factors: “a belief in simple solutions for complex problems; feelings of powerlessness; and subjective social class”.

Joseph Uscinski, from the University of Miami in the US who, with Joseph Parent, authored the 2014 book American Conspiracy Theories (Oxford University Press), tells Cosmos that their research found that “conspiracy thinking is higher among people with less education and less wealth”.

https://www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/the-best-way-to-fight-back-against-conspiracy-theorists-like-alex-jones.html

That means conspiracy theories will probably always be this us to some extent, but there are also demographic and psychological factors that make it more likely people will believe in them, including:

  • Being less educated. This one hardly needs much explaining.
  • A desire to feel special. Those who want to stand out from the crowd (aka those with narcissistic tendencies) can adopt extreme beliefs in order to do so.
  • Feelings of powerlessness. An explanation for events beyond a person's control -- no matter how ludicrous those explanations sound to others -- can still be psychologically preferable to being the victim of blind chance or happenstance.
  • A need for certainty. "Seeking explanations for events is a natural human desire,""explains psychology professor David Ludden. "And we don't just ask questions. We also quickly find answers to those questions--not necessarily the true answers, but rather answers that comfort us or that fit into our worldview."

Wow, you went to a lot of trouble to copy & paste all that..I guess I AM SPECIAL & UNIQUE🙂😊😁😀🤣😆😂

If you don’t understand something...you simply label it as waffle😆

Again this applies: eventually when the opponent is challenged or questioned, it means the victims investment and thus his intelligence is questioned, no one can accept that. Not even to themselves.

keep digging that hole😁

If we ‘loons’ are now so ‘commonplace’ then what does that suggest......

......and here i was thinking I am ‘special and unique’😔

seeking shelter in the comfort of your fellow 🐑🐑🐑 and labelling others derogatory terms for having an alternative viewpoint, you lack the brains to comprehend, is a final act of desperation and sign of insecurity & ignorance🤭

Conspiracy theories arent a different viewpoint. People have died and you say oh their crisis actors.

No you guessed wrong but nice try. I'm talking about a man being man enough to not let dickheads comments get to him, and you compare that with a man who gives his wife zero say. Honestly that's one sad comment.

You know people have died from constant trolling yeah? People need to realize some people do take things to heart . But a lot of people think oh its just banter. No theres banter and then theres abuse. Which a lot of trolls forget.  Look at facebook and the concern trolls .

Mate I'm giving credit to a football player for being strong minded to the point he simply couldn't give a fuck what negative shit is thrown at him by opposing fans.
And you're attacking my thoughts, WTF seriously.
