+xLast year Brandon Burns was almost released to the Panthers as he wasn’t getting any game time at Souffs.... wow, what a start to the season this kid is having playing in the centresHe’s pushed Gagai back out to the wing.... big call by Wayne Bennett, but a master stroke. Yep Wayne is good and lucky ... Burns and Graham are outstanding young outside backs.... Sam Burgess deserves the praise he gets.

+x+xTARSHA GALE CUP TEAM: I didn't see Dman listed, is he using an Alias? Precious Papalii fullback. Yes, the first name is a dead give away. I took one look at the results, and figured he was in the team :)

I have to say Tim Lafai gets a lot of praise, and is a good player, but I am amazed the TV commentators don't seem to see the number of silly offloads, forced passes, and generally bad options he takes in attack. He seems to turn over possession at least 3-4 times a game.

The refs haven't changed at all. Last nights game was turned in Souffs favour early in the second half. Those first three tries after half time.. ....really... Burgess try, well I think it was short of the line, the second I think the St Merge player was interferred with from taking that bomb and the third was scored after two yep "two" forward passes in the leadup. The whistle blowers still influenced the outcome so for me NRLol is still a fail.

I reckon it'll be the medias main campaign this year... Then the NRLol will jump and probably make it worse...

He seems to turn over possession at least 3-4 times a game. HD you need to consider what wins you game and statistics behind it..... Most teams with an equal share of possession will have about 40 sets a game and most teams that score 5 tries will win a game. In those 40 sets, if Lafai sets up 2 or 3 tries with his forced passes, he has done more than his share to win the game. The other centre or halves can setup the other 2 tries. If Lafai turns over possession 3 or 4 times after he sets up 2 or 3 tries- it doesn't matter. In defence, if most teams keep opposition to under 14 points they will win more than they lose. Its harder to gauge who is at fault in defence, but if its a one on one and the centre lets the try in, you can probably single him out. The key reason I have been critical of JMoz over the years is that he hardly setup his winger. Yes there were times when he did, but you certainly didn't have expectations of him doing so in the same way guys like Lafai, Latrell, Inglis, BJ Leilua, and co do. In my opinion, Lafai deserves getting the credit. He is very good in attack and can create a try from nothing.

How many play the ball stuff ups were there...Gagai twice...Burgess an air swing in attempting to kick the ball through...missed forward pass by Cook to Walker that Blindt Freddy could have seen. In between there was some good play though not much by the Dragons...certainly not emulating recent seasons flying starts..

The Labor candidate for the seat of Cronulla has a very unfortunate name...Teressa FARHART. How would/could you pronounce it so as for it not to sound like you know what?

I'm telling you.... These long direct passes from Cam Smith at dummy half are proving to be a killer play.
He just fired that one to a wide standing Croft on the blind side and caught the Raiders napping.
Our dummy half hasn't got a pass or the brains to execute anything like it. He is just a dummy.

In my opinion, Lafai deserves getting the credit. He is very good in attack and can create a try from nothing. Fair enough if he delivers, but some of his plays are dumb low percentage plays IMO. You need to get the balance right between completions and attack, like you I'm not a fan of simply completing sets and throwing little at the opposition. To play NRL well you need to move the ball and you need to force the play with it is "on", forcing the play when it isn't "on" is simply wasting possession. In our loss to the Warriors I was happy with some of our play towards the end particularly from Lewis, we took a few chance to try to make something happen. We needed to do more earlier, but that is an example of what we need to fix. I do think Lafai is a gun, he would just be better if he was smarter.

The question I would ask is :- "Are our halves demanding the ball?" The problem is we don't seem to have too many occasions (on yardage) where Lichaa passes to a half. At the opposition end, we good wide too often and don't seem to hit holes on the edges. We had many of these problems when Ennis was hooker and Des was coach. Lichaa might not have the skill to throw a long flat pass, but before we can find out he needs someone in position calling for the ball. If is is ignoring calls from the halves then that is a reason to drop him, but find out before making a decision.

The difference between us and Storm (well at least one of the differences) is that Bellamy expects all players to be "active" and "expect" the ball at any time. We on the other hand look completely 1 dimensional and the minute a ball is passed out of the ordinary, we drop it or it hits us in the head. Smart football is not something I associate our team or players with. This means we have to be playing at over 90% efficiency to win games. Either that, or opposition needs to lose to us.

Yep now Coote's price has gone up, we will need to throw in Parra, Manly and Rooster leagues clubs, but I'm sure all 3 will covert well to pack packer accommodation. With the mandatory statue of Coote in each lobby as part of the deal. I told Villi, don't get Dman to make the statues ...

Am seeing some weird stuff from the refs under the new 'let the game flow' edict and for mine it's has yet to improve the spectacle... The whole 'loose carry' thing is crap, its either knocked on or back... A strange rule that for some reason was resurrected last year or before while others are ignored... Tapau was just laying in the ruck, ball played into him and the refs call the play back... Pearce strips one on one, maybe after held was called an its a penalty after two years of 'didn't hear it, take it back to the mark'... I think the 'let the game flow edict' is more about covering up inconsistencies than the spectacle... The 'loose carry' by dragons player which went backwards then saw bunnies march 80m and score...
Will say the bunker is better this year, they're more inclined to make a quick decision based in infield no try ruling, thoig I can't say the same for on field try ruling....

Will also say the coaches are all over the disinclination of refs and particular touch judges to call a forward passes... 'Letting the game flow' see us move closer to what we used to laugh about re union rulings... 4 refs on the field, a multi million dollar bunker and can't get the most obvious of forward passes right... 'Let the game flow' at the price of the games integrity...
