Korea score a 4th on 80’.

We’re currently ahead by +1 goal difference. Need Cambodia to hold on and not concede for 10 minutes.

Fucking hell. Korea score again to make it 5-1 on 85’.

We’re currently equal on GD but they beat us on goals scored now.

@grazorblade

Gersbach came off the bench and played about 40 minutes today. Should be fresh for the Korea match.

Results don’t count against bottom team don’t they?

So if it finishes 6-1 all we need is a draw against South Korea and we’re through (assuming Cambodia don’t lose to Taiwan)

6-1 to Korea now.

So now we need to beat Korea to top the group. A draw will leave us in second spot.

so our best outfield looks like

-vujika - deng - ?? - Gersbach
------------O'niell---Pasquali-----
--------------------Mcgree----------
------Majok-----??----------Piscopo

I feel like I should make room for baccus in there somehow

You’re absolutely correct, I totally forgot about that!

So we just need Cambodia to win or draw vs Taiwan then.

Hoping to see this vs Korea:

Glover
Atkinson/Deng/Wilson/Gersbach
Pasquali/McGree
Genreau
Champness/Waring/Piscopo

That’s our strongest lineup imo from having watched these two earlier matches. O’Neill a little unlucky to miss out as he’s been good too.

SK scored on 4 and 8 and three more in the final 10. I'm really interested how we'll line up and how things will pan out.

I think the line-up will be, based on rotation and needing to more defensive
Holmes
Atkinson/Souttar/Tass/Gersbach
Baccus or O'Neill or Pasquali
Champness/McGree/Waring
Picsopo.

The team is first in the second place qualifiers table as all games against 4th place teams are eliminated because of Pakistans withdrawal

After looking at the games left, they are all 3 v 4.
Australia are assured of finishing top of the second place qualifiers.
Korea Republic beat Cambodia 6-1 last night.
The team needed 2 more goals.

I thought Souttar was excellent and with his height he is a huge set piece threat so I would like him to start.

Ideally we’d be hoping for as few draws as possible in the other group games between 1 and 2. That way, even if we lose to South Korea, we should go through as second on superior goal difference.

Huh ? Australia qualified for the chile under 17 cup last year

2019 U17 world cup originally in Peru but now in Brazil from the 5th to the 27th October 2019. The last time  the Joeys qualified names who have lasted are

Kye Rowles, Waring, Caletti, Brimmer, Hope, Armenakas, Arzani, Delianov

Trevor Morgan needs to drop his anti-WSW chip.

@paul01 Ideally we’d be hoping for as few draws as possible in the other group games between 1 and 2. That way, even if we lose to South Korea, we should go through as second on superior goal difference.

out of 11 groups, ten have 2nd place team with a win over 3rd ie they  have 3 relevant points.

if 4 of those ten games between 1st and 2nd end in draws then the qualifiers come from those groups. This is pretty likely meaning we need a draw to qualidy

if only 3 of the 10 games end in draws we would likely qualidy with a narrow loss

if more than 4 of the games end in draws we would qualify with a draw as we would remain +6

bottom point is that we very likely qualidy with a draw but very likely do not qualify with a loss in particular later playing groups will know a draw suits both teams and will play out 0-0 games for sure

very poorly designed system

So we have to beat South Korea because they scored more goals than us to finish on top of the group.

It was again a good performance based on the opponent, Pierce Waring looks to be a good find upfront especially the 2nd goal which was quality.

It was interesting to see Gerbach play as a left winger and not left full back in the second half, the team was left-sided reliant for chance creation from what i saw.

Soutar is a big lad (apparently 6'6) so he would be useful in the air against we would think a strong and powerful South Korea side, either Tas or Deng will be his partner.

Not sure about the goalkeepers yet as they haven't been tested yet but i would like a starting line up against South Korea based on the 2 games ive seen.

                             Holmes

Atkinson       Deng           Soutar        Vujica

                                        Pasquali
                   Baccus

                               McGree

Hard to disagree with that lineup, but I'd probably go O'Neill over Baccus from what I've seen in the two games.. Generau is unlucky to miss out, but McGree does look quality at this level. Mourdoukoutas would also be unlucky, but thought both he and Deng have done well. Souttar is a no brainer, he is an absolute beast.

Vujica is the one that surprised me, thought he's been one of our better players, always putting in good crosses, defends well. He'd be the one keeping Gersbach out which is very surprising

The only reason i say Baccus over O'Neill is that the skillset to play against South Korea might be more suited to someone like Baccus, he's only played against South Korea for the Olyroos at last years u23 championships in January if i recall too.

Either way its good we have decent midfield stocks to choose from.

McGree has been excellent as the No.10, although he suited as an No.8 in between the lines facing forward he looks competent further up anyway, Genreau has been good too with his playmaking but with Piscopo and Pasquali i think having someone driving forward and creating space for others in McGree will suit the formation.
