+x+x+x+xHow bout fucking Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's stupid comments today. What a flog. -PB Wouldn't expect much better tbh. He's the Donald Trump of the muslim world. TRUMP is the best 'politician' going round right now. How dare you compare him to a complete flog like Erdogan! I don't want to talk about Trumps politics here but what I am fascinated about is what the hell is going on in the minds of evangelicals that love him unreservedly. Based on your previous posts I'd say you're the evangelical type. So I'm just wondering how do you, personally, justify in your mind Trumps appalling 'unchristian' behaviour. And by 'unchristian' I mean him sleeping with, not one but 2, porn stars just after his wife gave birth to his child. (And then paying them off.) And say him talking about how that when you're famous you can just walk up to girls and start kissing them and 'grab them on the pussy'. There's literally dozens of examples but 2 will do for now. I'm really amazed with what goes on in the heads of 'Christian' Americans when clearly his behaviour is nothing of the sort. Can you help me understand? It's not just Christians that love him. It's all the disenfranchised people that were looking for something different to the same old elites and dynasties. Trump has broken the mold and he has been doing his level best to deliver on his promises. Also the US economy has never been better. The rest of you are sheep. You don't like him because that is what CNN, and CNBC tell you to believe and also that is what all the Hollywood virtue signalers tell you. I think you should worry more about what is going on in your head and less about what is going on in the spiritual lives of Christians. Just because you lack spirituality doesn't mean you are smarter or more balanced. In fact, the opposite is true. Christians are generally more family oriented. Which means they are more conservative than the average and believe in traditional age long values. The Left are going against traditional values such as family, home and religion and this is why it is fertile ground for conservatives. Also bear in mind that as people get older, they evolve into being more conservative and they adopt more conservative principles. So a lefty at university today, can evolve to a conservative in middle age or later in life. You see it with the baby boomers who were all smoking drugs, as well as having lots of anal sex on the beach, in the 60s and 70s and evolved into more Christian and family orientated people as they got older and more mature. Its a natural phenomena.

Cognitive dissonance is a strong trait amongst those that place 'faith' above reason. To think about the 'why' of uncomfortable questions would lead you to ask serious questions of your belief systems and yourself. A perfect example of sunk cost fallacy.

+x+x+x+x+xWhat Mcjulsie was meant to say is “i was actually a supporter of the Labor solution” Yes I was. It was a far more humane plan the "pacific solution". We can see the consequences of such a cruel plan now. In 10 years time we'll have the PM fronting parliament with a national apology for what they've done in our name. Wasn't part of the labor solution to reopen Manus in 2012? I'm with Rusty on this one: most people who claim concern over human rights issues in regards to offshore detention only seem to care when the liberals are in power. Same with same sex marriage. Bumped this comment because it (and the discussion it related to) came to mind while watching this new friendlyjordies vid. Apparently the ABC & SBS are also biased to the LNP, if you didn't already realise. It's a curious thing to see somebody from my age group with the kind of one-eyed devotion to the ALP you'd typically see in a boomer: Did you see Friendly Jordies rant against the Beetoota Advocate because they had a post calling both major parties shitty? He lost the plot, claiming they have a "duty" to make sure the liberals got voted out. He's a very funny guy but what sort of satirist tries to censor other satirists? NSW liberal and labor are both corrupt and despicable. I didn't actually, can you post the link? I really, really want Jordies v the B.A to become a thing. Like, if it becomes the 'Uncle Tony X' of 2019, that would be glorious to sit and watch...

Any criticism of the ALP is bad because the liberals a far worse, which might be true, but it doesn't change the fact that nsw labor are notoriously corrupt (Eddie obeid anyone?) and brought little to the table that would have persuaded me to vote for them. Sacking Alan Jones would have been a treat though.

If the DNC don't seriously consider Andrew Yang after Sanders, then they can kiss 2020 goodbye. Electing another mainstream/elite stooge will be the death-knell of that party and Trump will win in a landslide.
As for domestic politics, the "Environment" minister just rammed through groundwater approval plans for the Adani coal mining project after being strong-armed by Joyce, Carnavan and their cronies. That could cost the LNP a few key seats in the forthcoming election. On the other hand, I don't trust Labor either to shelve this project as Shorten has been walking both sides of the aisle. It will stand or fall on its own financial merits.

I understand the ambiguity. What I mean is the rules, laws and regs are there. If they meet all of the requirements then the government (and by 'government' I mean NOT the responsible departments) should stay out of it. IE: Only the relevant government departments should have a say on whether it's a yes or no based on their regulations, scientific advice, EIS's etc etc. If Adani meets all of the above then they should approve it. Or change the law and outlaw coal mining.

Clearly, Adani thinks it has legs by funding the entire project themselves. Although they have scaled back the mine significantly.

The philanderer and all that. That is easily answered. I didn't know you were waiting. You should have said so... As Christians, we are unable to judge Trump, you or anyone else. All we can do is forgive and love everyone, including Trump, you and anyone else as equals and our brothers in Christ. He does not discriminate between me, you or Trump. Trump, and each one of us will need to answer to our shortcomings one day. We will all be judged by the higher authority. But Trumps opponents are even less Christian, and whilst we can't judge them either, they do support Euthanasia, Abortions, Gay marriage, and other stuff so we need to make decisions based on our beliefs and morals.
