+x+xSo Idiot Des wouldn’t allow our No9 to run.... He’s now got 2 No9’s in the one side & both are running.... their bench guy Fainu or whatever his name is, is a gun! They played so well Manly especially when DCE came off! God I hate Idiot Des even more..... he’s entered Will Chalmbers territory Squad assembly was the main area Des fell down at our club, others share the blame. Apart from that Des had an obsession with playing a particular style that didn't suit our team. Even tho Des and others screwed our club, I never thought Des was an idiot, given the right team and the right support he can get results. After a while I think his style becomes less effective as players get tired of the over analysis. But him getting reasonable results with Manly is no surprise, they have a reasonable squad. Inspite of the fact that some teams have jumped out of the blocks, this season looks very competitive to me. Getting teams at the right time helps. Newcastle and the Broncos are back in form. Broncos have a lot of talent, they should not be at the bottom of the table. For us the key is to keep improving our game, this season is all about improving making the 8 is a bonus. On recent form, we might be able to finish 12th or better. I think just focus on improving our game and see where we end up. I don't see the top 8 or even the top 4 as set in stone, a few injuries some bad luck and the refs changing allegiance can cost a team a couple of close losses, down the table they tumble and it could sap their confidence, could be any team at anytime. If you remember we were excellent in 2012. Des can never be forgiven for our roster and the back ended contracts and paying overs for ordinary players and getting rid of a champion like Finucane. Not to mention our discraceful style of play from 15-17.

Hasler is definitely not an idiot, he was playing to Greenbergs plan but, he, Dib and Castle were so glaringly obvious they couldn't pull off the plan. As we are all aware Greenberg and the NRLol don't want as many Sydney teams as there are at present and want teams to relocate. None are going willingly and the agenda is to force either more mergers or a team relocation. I believe Dib Des and Co did their best to put the club in an untenable position due to SC issues but the fans and members destroyed that plan when they voted Dib out and hired Pay to coach. Desball will not even see daylight at Manly so as far as I am concerned Hasler is not an idiot... an ar$ehole yes but not an idiot.

EVERYTHING & all we asked for was a bloody premiership He left us in a complete mess..... Calling him Idiot Des is me being nice to him.

Not disagreeing, just will not be surpised if Des gets reasonable results with Manly this year. Des did make some diabolical recruitment decisions... Just on that Cogger, Meaney and CHN so far look like great signings. Moving Jacko to the middle is working. It is good to a coach and recruitment tesm making good decisions.

+x+x+x+x+xPoor grub ...lack of effort was never his problem ... even in the lower grades he was a wholehearted competitor... Just recently I saw him do some of the better kicks I've ever seen him do, so it look like injuries are catching up just as he is finally nailing some skills. He is on overs at the Tigers, with his injury history, I don't think they will extend him, back to the Dogs on modest money is a good deal all round.. he is tailor made for 14 in the modern game, you just need to pay him 14 money, which is for 15 mins of dynamic action each game (with hopefully minimal screw ups) OMG. Have some sympathy for poor grub... Lol... Its Ok to bash grub but dont dare say a word about a certain 2nd rate hooker... ;) I had harsh words fo Joshie but I didn't bash him every game and every day like some. I have never said a word about Reynolds since he left because I have not missed him for one minute and when Lichaa leaves I will never give a second thought to him either. The weasel reckons the Rorters might want Lichaa as backup for Ridley seeing Friend is out for months haha. Politis must be going senile. If we can offload Lichaa this season, go for it.

They probably will HD He got a gun front row, 2 running ball playing No.9’s, a terrific Jake T, DCE..... that’s a pretty good base to work with Havent even mentioned Tom T. He had had an even better roster handed to him in 2012 I believe.... Anyway....

So the NBN is coming in June to our house. Looking at different companies as the wifi router that comes with Optus is terrible going by reviews. We have been with Optus for years and years. Can anyone who has the NBN recommend a different company as long as it isn't Telstra.

You are right about Hasler in that at the right kind of team setup he can be successful. But it is still idiotic to continue to play Desball when it is clear to everyone that it was a lost cause at our club. In my opinion, Des is the type of coach you want when you have an established roster with key talent in the halves but just need an authoritative coach to keep a level head on the players. He is no good in a club that needs a rebuild. In fact he is terrible. Good luck to him at Manly where guys like DCE and Turbo bros can drive the team. Before them it was Stewart bros with DCE and Lyon (one of the smartest players to ever lace a boot on).

NBN must have just made it to my area but I am very wary of signing up to 2yr contract without some competitive performance for my area. With current ADSL2 my internet is third world. I cannot stream without rebuffering. I therefore don't bother with Netflix or Stan subscriptions. Even my foxtel installer was appalled at how bad the internet is/was that he was apologetic that I wouldn't be able to get much value out my iQ3 box...

If you are on FTTN there is a thing called node lotto where distance from the node and the condition of the copper are a factor. But it turned out ok for me, good luck. If you get a crappy NBN service follow up, even get the wiring in your house tested. Persist and you will get something better than ADSL2.

We had Optus Sport for EPL the first year and cancelled it as it was unwatchable.

I think problem with HFC is if too many users are sharing the pipe. Unfortunately the ALP made a mess of the NBN, then the LNP proceed to make it heaps worse. The whole MTM strategy was diabolical, you may as well build a car out of parts from 10 different cars. The original idea was good, but the current shambles is very hard to fix.

Yep third world countries have better service than we do. If I had my choice I'd keep it as it is but our service will be cut off as soon as the NBN is connected. At least a lot of companies are offering shorter contracts of 12 or 18 months instead of the usual 2. Anyway I give up tonight. Tomorrow is another day.

What is HFC? On one of the unofficial map legends, it indicated it with 100MBps. Isnt that good? I get less than 1MBps right now..... Hybrid Fibre Coaxial using the old pay tv cables. The drop out rates have been woeful if you read certain articles. Google NBN Lotto ABC and you can put your address in and it will tell you what your house has.

Nancy, I live in regional NSW we only have FTTN and I am sure I couldn't physically get any further from the little green box hence my NBN is utter rubbish. It wouldn't matter what provider I used, I lost the NBN lottery. Thank you Mr Turnbull and Mr Abbott, you pair of useless knobs.

+xSo the NBN is coming in June to our house. Looking at different companies as the wifi router that comes with Optus is terrible going by reviews. We have been with Optus for years and years. Can anyone who has the NBN recommend a different company as long as it isn't Telstra. ISP - Internode NBN Modem - Fritz!box 7490 NBN (Dect-GAP) Phones - Gigaset E630 Having worked for multiple ISP's & had accounts with multiple more, I've found Internode is good to use/deal with/plenty of staff. Subsidiary of iinet I think. No ISP is perfect though, they all have their NBN issues which they blame NBN for, but considering there's no alternative.... The above modem, not the dandiest enclosure, but has all the right features, performance, reliability & usability. The Gigaset phones are made by Siemens, great features, colour screen, fully compatible with that modem (which has the wireless phone base station built in). Many people have had trouble with NBN phones from Uniden, Panasonic & others. Even if they get them working the volume is too low, crappy screen, not all phone base station features work or some other issue. Both that particular modem & that model phone do cost a little extra, but it's a case of getting it right the first time & if you try to buy too cheap chances are you'll have to buy twice. To keep your existing phone number, you have to change it to your new ISP before you sign for NBN or the ISP will have to give you a new number. Only Telstra has the means to keep your old phone number & they wont do it for anyone else.

(They currently say we are too far from the Exchange so we get the bottom of barrel scraps of bandwidth) I think I will hold out till one of my neighbours gets it and check out who they go with and how well it works. I'm not optimistic but surely it has to be better than what I have right now right? I mean....the people who should be complaining should be the ones who had decent speeds/reliability before and the NBN hasn't improved them much. I would think us folk that have had a service comparable to dial up, should get an improvement yeah? One thing I have noticed over the last few years of ADSL.... hot-spotting from my Vodafone 4G mobile phone has given me much faster internet. It's my go-to solution....

Whether you sign for NBN online or by phone, regardless of which ISP it is, they have to forward the whole thing onto NBN itself to get their staff to go to the exchange & your house to set it up. It's not like they'll lob up the next day either, so be prepared to join the line & wait 1 or 2 weeks if not longer (depending on area). The people that wait for the phone lines to be disconnected by Telstra find that out the hard way when they're without services for weeks on end. Another thing to note is whether you sign for regular consumer NBN or pay a business premium, which is then also reflected in how quick or slow they turn up to your address after you make a booking or if there's a fault. For eg. if you're just a regular customer & the NBN suddenly wont connect to the exchange, you'd be lucky to get it sorted within a week, but the customers that pay the premium usually get NBN staff turn up within 24hrs. I bought a 4G Telstra Dongle, so when if/when there's a major NBN fault, I just plug it in a USB port & get on the net that way similar to a mobile phone. The biggest problem with those dongles is the credit only lasts a month & it expires. Then the counter starts, so if you haven't used it for 6 months they deactivate the phone number attributed to it & you have to buy a new sim card next time you need to use it. Annoying if it's a Friday evening & you have to wait until the following week....

Ah yes..."rebuffering" the word all Netflix and Stan users are so familiar with. NBN here in June so hopefully that is going to be a word made redundant...though I doubt it.

+xAh yes..."rebuffering" the word all Netflix and Stan users are so familiar with. NBN here in June so hopefully that is going to be a word made redundant...though I doubt it. When I went from ADSL2 to NBN the speed was very disappointing, however it was twice as fast as what I had. It was just enough of a boost to get one of these Foxtel internet thingies & watch the football/cricket without taking over the living room : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Foxtel-Now-Box/142573387010?epid=2298567578&hash=item2132093d02:g:3FwAAOSwX3FaBLjd:sc:AU_ExpressDelivery!2040!AU!-1It doesn't do the buffering thing very often, not enough to ruin using it, but it still does it once in a while. Most days it wont at all & when it does it's over with quickly & back to normal. I suspect it would probably happen to anyone using one on a much faster connection as well. As for NBN phones, they really are a step backwards compared to good old fashioned Telstra phones. I guess it's too much processing & conversion all messing about with the sound getting from A to B. It sounds a bit pulsey to me. Nothing beats uninterrupted wires. Shame the NBN phones are being imposed on everyone like this & it's either that or mobile phones. As for long term NBN contracts, I haven't signed one. I just went with a one month at a time deal with Internode. If I want out or have to move then I don't want to pay out the rest of the contract & get nothing in return.

Sky Muster works well up here, but use me UHF to talk to people. They forgot about mobile reception for most of the cape. Bloke who owns a roadhouse had to build his own tower from his hip pocket so the RFDS could land at his airstrip and nothing at all during the wet and cyclones. But SloMo BiSho JoFry JoFitz and PeDu will be up for the election wearing their big hats for the day telling us how good they are. Their hat size is in direct contradiction to their "member" .............. of Parliament. Only Bob wears the big hat up these parts!
