LIDAR and autonomous braking will make hitting pedestrians a non issue. It's an engineering and software issue. Both of which are rapidly improving.

I also know that there is no technology at this stage which will prevent pedestrian run overs by EVs due to their lack of noise or stealthiness.

I am use to their rudeness. God only knows why they behave this way anyway.

Every single question he asks has been previously posted or there's a link to the answer. So it's either trolling, wilful ignorance or rank stupidity. Take your pick. And he's a multi.

There really is no need to be rude and insulting. I put up a legitimate concern. EV’s are very stealthy and what they are finding is people are getting run over. As a result, there are calls for regulations which will mandate a minimum noise footprint to avoid this issue. It really isn’t a criticism of the sacred cow so no need to get defensive ok. I have said so many times that I like the tech and am supportive of it and want it to succeed and it eventually will succeed. Doesn’t mean there won’t be issues along the way. There will be issues as is always the case with new game changing technologies. When the first automobiles came out, we had to build roads. Also, I’m not a multi. Never was and never will be. This is my only account 100% I am always willing to undergo an audit as well with the forum owners and moderators because I got nothing to hide. And I am also willing to cooperate with the audit and also send in my identification to the forum owner. It is their website and I am grateful to be allowed on it. It’s like being in someone’s home. You need to respect the space and the hospitality. I suggest you settle down and mind your manners. I have been very nice and polite to you so you should show the same courtesy.

I was lucky enough to help construct and race a solar car a few years ago in the World Solar Challenge (Darwin -> Adelaide) while still studying at Uni, and was amazed how much fun it was to drive even as a hardcore petrolhead. As far as the end of the ICE goes, we all know it's not a matter of "if" but "when" and my primary concern with the EV is the fact that it can sometimes appear as a bit of a band-aid solution, like the hybrid car itself - it's a step in the right direction, but is it the end goal or can we do better? Hydrogen fuel cells could be a better long-term solution but there are still a lot of storage related issues before they're viable, and if all the electricity comes from a fossil fuel grid then it hasn't solved the problem.
Teslas are also a real mixed bag - I've been a QA Engineer in the automotive industry for a few years now, and some of the stories I've heard... although that's more to do with their relative lack of experience/immaturity instead of the fact that they're building EVs. I would still take an EV from a known car maker over a Tesla if I bought one today, but they are improving no doubt.

Good article. ABC fact check is great. Notice how the naysayers argue under the provisio that EV technology and capability wont improve at all from here till 2030. Moronic attitude.

No one is saying the technology will not improve. Furthermore, the EVs that claim a towing capacity are worth more than 100K, and those models can only take you to the Grampians from Melbourne on a single charge, probably less if you are towing. What they are saying is that the technology isn't there yet or cheap enough for the greater public.

Saw a video on LinkedIn the other day (will try to find the link later) of an all-electric Ford F-150 prototype hauling a 1,000,000 pound (just under 500kg) payload. Not sure how long it would last but definitely a statement of intent on their behalf to shut the doubters up.
