Yet another argument for why more clubs are needed - if our best U23 talent is spread across two divisions of 32 clubs (16 clubs in each division) than you're unlikely to get 3 or 4 players called up from the same club. This is before including any overseas U23 talent.

Just my 2c.

Should have a long camp during the offseason for 30 players who might be in the olyroos. It's not as if there isn't enough time.

Victory had literally 1 players selected and Muscat was still having a winge. international football is just part and parcel of the game I think coaches should just accept that

To be fair, Deng is the only player in the Olyroos who is vital to a Championship chasing team.

The premiers plate is already gone and he'll be back well before finals

Bocca said "championship chasing team" and Deng is crucial to that goal. MV need to string their first 11 out for consecutive games, something we really haven't been able to do all season, in order to get team chemistry at it's peak before the finals. Hence it being fair enough that Muscat had a whinge.

If Japan finishes in the top 4 of the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship 4 qualifying spots for Tokyo Olympics 2020 becomes 3 spots

Is that true?

Japan are the hosts, so i don't think they need to qualify.... But are playing the matches as warmups effectively...

Correct. Only 3 spots available.
Top 3 if Japan finish there, then it's open to the other 3 semi-finalists.

Yeah it'd just mean that the 3rd place playoff becomes redundant.

Just noticed a young player with Portuguese Australian dual nationality Luca da Silva at Willem II in the Netherlands. Wonder if the FFA have looked at him or if Dylan Ryan (his Aussie teammate) has spoken to the FFA about him? Probably of the standard for the Young Socceroos.

Pretty envious of NZ just beating Honduras 5:0 at the U20 WC. Nigeria beat Qatar 4:0.

Originally, it was determined that Peru would have hosted it between 5 and 27 October 2019,[1] however, it was announced in February 2019 that they would no longer host the tournament, following inspection of the facilities and concern over organizational challenges.[2] A formal announcement on 15 March 2019 ratified the recommendation to move the tournament to Brazil.[3]

The 24 teams will be drawn into six groups of four teams. The hosts Brazil are automatically seeded into Pot 1 and assigned to position A1. The draw will be held on 22 June 2019 at the Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro. Countries from the same confederation will not be grouped in the same group.

Australia there along with Tajikistan, Japan and South Korea for u17 WC 2019

I praised this Ben Waine kid right after he played against Perth. You could tell he just had that strikers instinct. He's gonna be an important player for the Nix if Krishna goes.

Fair props to New Zealand, hope they do well, getting out of the group would be a great effort for them.

A shame our boys couldn't qualify for the world cup i would have been interesting what kind of team we would have assembled, just shows how valuable is to qualify for this kind of international tournaments when the whole world is watching you and the amounts scouts there too.

The younger generations are missing out, so hopefully, New Zealand can do well with talents like Singh showcasing his talent to a bigger audience.

New Zealand win again and will qualify for the 2nd round.

The first goal scorer for New Zealand is a former aus youth team and was part of the Mariners youth set up in Gianni Stensness.
