There is a lot of interesting info in this thread.

Keep it coming!

It seems as though Trent Sainsbury’s best days may be behind him.

He may may have peaked at a relatively young age at the Asian Cup in 2015.

He has never realised his potential and i would think he is unlikely to ever do so. His career choices have really been poor from a playing perspective. Im sure his bank account is quite healthy though

Its really disappointing that our players want to get to the top without doing the hard yards, comparing behich and sains, sains has moved around chasing money in China, the loan to inter which granted was probably in his control (who would turn it down though) struggled in holland both times with injury etc.

Behich got to Turkey worked hard, locked down a spot and even without the connections with socceroos may have been ready for the step up regardless,  difference being is when it was clear he wasn't going to get the game time, he's moved on,  still up from where was previously in Turkey but hes pushing for game time. He has had good advice on his moves and hopefully he will have a great year,  i foresee sains sitting on the bench and getting pushed off that for other players.

Great news. He can finish. He needs to be persisted with for Australia along with Giannou, who hasn't put a foot wrong lately.

What's Giannou done lately? Is he still not scoring in Cyprus?

Sainsbury maybe oughta even get a loan to another Eredivisie club like PEC Zwolle where he started out in Europe.

There's definitely some other players coming through in the centre of defense so if he's not playing he will more than likely lose his spot for the Socceroos.

7 goals and 4 assists from 36 games last season. Some were in Europe. It was OK. I just feel he was a real shining light at the Asian Cup for the minimal time he got. Leckie was offside but everyone kept playing naturally when he scored against UAE. It was well taken.

Sainsbury has made some poor choices. Nevertheless the China one was to send his dad into retirement and that's OK. The loan to Inter was decent for his football education but I wish he'd pushed to play some minutes for the reserves at least for match fitness. The Grasshoppers time got him minutes but I wish he'd left China 6 months before that for any club where minutes were essentially guaranteed.

PSV was incredibly frustrating. A decent world cup and they did everything to get him and then just tied him down and kept him out. Of course never change a winning team but ffs they were up by 3 or 4 many times. Let him play centre mid or right back for half an hour!

He's now got a child and his father in law is his coach. The last 12 months prove he hasn't been enjoying his football and he's been enjoying other life's pleasures. Hopefully this pre season can be solid and he can get a start and keep it.

Good thing you’re not a football manager. Professional clubs don’t just play certain players for the sake of playing them.

Indeed, a player should earn their minutes via decent training. However, there are a number of players who get minutes for a multitude of reasons other than a decent week on the training pitch. In Sainsbury's case he was thoroughly scouted and wanted by PSV and I'm honestly surprised he didn't feature more from the bench when they were many goals ahead against minnows.

Ex-Jets midfielder Mitch Cooper has been called up for Vanuatu.

Do any NPLV watchers think he’ll get another gig in the HAL?

It's most likely a misunderstanding based on a tweet. Degenek simply wished Red Star good luck before their Champions League game. He said something like "good luck Star, may we all experience the good times again". Which the Serbian media took as a hint that he's coming back. I'd wait for something more official.

"Francois capped off an excellent season at the base of the midfield by being nominated for April’s Player of the Month." Our striker woes continue.

he is highly rated though and would.make a good successor to Jedinak.. hopefully he gets a few starts this season in the championship.

Behich got to Turkey worked hard, locked down a spot and even without the connections with socceroos may have been ready for the step up regardless,  difference being is when it was clear he wasn't going to get the game time, he's moved on,  still up from where was previously in Turkey but hes pushing for game time. He has had good advice on his moves and hopefully he will have a great year,  i foresee sains sitting on the bench and getting pushed off that for other players.

yeah exactly...Behich made a name for himself and rightly so when he becomes available he gets a move back there to a good league he enjoys playing in it looks like.

Yaaa even though it was great for Arzani to be included in the squad I didn't think he was ever a chance of getting minutes. It's great that his recovery seems to be progressing well though..it's been around 8 months now since his injury hasn't it? So he's not too far off obviously, probably a month or so if they take it cautiously.

his transfer pretty much covered their wages for the year didnt it. i remember him saying that the transfer was good for the club and that was a big part of his decision to take it.

I think that’s Taggart with the assist for the second too.

The Koreans must think he’s unbelievable and we’re like “Yeah, nah, he was ok in our league, never really a chance to get game time for the Socceroos”.
