paine drops another off lyon, looks like it just missed the bat but he's giving me no confidence here!
Siddle just misses the outside edges
lots of playing and misses

to recap, 2 outs overturned on review, half a dozen edges just wide of a fielder, 1 not out that would have been out on review, a missed runout, many play and misses and a bowled that didn't dislodgle the bails!
Thats a wicket every dozen runs! Hopefully more joy for Australia soon!

+xI hope for Australia's sake that Paine does better as captain in the field.Give it a rest Jim. Have a boozy nite DC. I will be watching Cummins and Pattinson making mincemeat of the Pommie top order. It didn’t happen, mate!

Given Burns has scored the runs, the memorable shots thus far have come from the bat of Root.

+x+xGood fight here by Burns. Apparently it is his first substantial Test innings. He scored more than his current 82* in WI earlier in the year in the test England were rolled for 77 in the first innings. But he made about 100 runs over two innings in Pakelle vs SL last year when England upset SL at home. But he is by no means a certain name for the future just yet.

Its a game of fine margins we take that review and expose the middle order early and we probably have england in trouble alternatively yesterday if we survive just a few more overs after lunch we probably make 400+ given their bowlers were tiring with anderson injured Still we have a chance here

Aus have a bowler problem here.
I'd seriously be looking at dropping Lyon next test. Bringing in Lasagne to 6.
Play Haze, Cummins, Patto and Siddle.
You just cannot let England off the hook with bowling so much Lyon early in the matches and expect to win.
SA and Ind have both at times flagged the spinner in England recently. Rashid played a test last year and never bowled a ball.
If Lyon is deemed so essential, you have to drop a batsman then and play 5 bowlers.

I’ve been really surprised by Siddle. With the Kookaburra in the Shield he has looked innocuous.
With the Dukes at Edgbaston he looks potent.
Most of the Tas Crick Assoc agreed at our beer tasting/ piss up tonight.
It it just shows the difference between two different cricket balls and the differing conditions between two countries.

He has bowled very well, devoid of luck in this innings. Flight, turn, bounce and accuracy in this innings,

Most of the Tas Crick Assoc agreed at our beer tasting/ piss up tonight. It it just shows the difference between two different cricket balls and the differing conditions between two countries. It does show this, but it takes wrist position and ball release skill to exploit it. Neil Wagner is pretty ordinary in England county, but Matt Henry has been destructive. Wagner is the preferred test player elsewhere, though. Pattinson bowls a lovely outswinger on cue, but Cummins still seems to be cross seaming it as though he is in Australia. Pace just isn't all that important in England. Its actually the ability to swing it, or be like TRJ and Philander and keep hitting the seam again and again.

He has bowled very well, devoid of luck in this innings. Flight, turn, bounce and accuracy in this innings, You have a massive problem then. Cos your best bowler aint going to be a wicket taking threat with a Dukes under clouds for the opening 2 days of tests, and he is going to be bowling a ton of overs if you go with a 3 seamer only attack. Massive problem. If Anderson had not been injured, Ali wouldn't bowl many overs yesterday at all. FTR - Pattinson has long been Aussie's best bowler in England imo but Sids is looking far more than useful now. It might actually be Siddle now :O
