What about the one near FFT at Glenorchy. What does that hold?

About 3 000, but only about 500 have access to covered seating.

Another 100 probably can get outdoor seating.

Most have to stand.

Are there any talks to try to even the playing field in terms of visa players?

a-league clubs are allowed 5, npl clubs are allowed 2. Hardly fair...

A fundament principle of Cup competitions like the FFA Cup is that the playing field is NOT level.

If you want a “level playing field cup competition” then let the 11 professional clubs play in a League Cup and Amateur can play in another cup.

It it never fails to amaze me how people don’t get “football culture” ... David v Goliath is not meant to be equal; it’s not equality that’s being offered - it’s opportunity!

There’s a lot things that aren’t equal, eg. Salary cap vs points cap, a league 1st Grade squad size vs npl 1st Grade squad size, npl always getting the home advantage. Visa players are limited when playing acl competitions, no reason why it can’t be evened up here.

+1

Such an unfair advantage to limit NPL but not limit A-league.

There is no reason to “even it up here” though. The cup is meant to pit big v small, haves v haves not, and it’s not meant to be fair or equal. That really is the point of it.

South Hobart would have been way better off playing tonight at a small rectangular stadium with 2k people in attendance.
All I'm basically saying is that football at an oval shaped stadium is shit, no matter what crowd you get, no matter how close one side of the field is ect ect.

It wouldn't.

I've been a spectator, player and  coach at most of  the local rectangular  stadia.

Bellerive Oval is easily the best venue.

and what a FFACup to be at.
Your never guaranteed a good game but this sure ended up being one.
For starters arriving just 10mins before koff the ground stands were already pretty full but we were in a que to enter which was healthy to see finally got in 5mins of play already gone.
Atmosphere was great till the final whistle !
SGC active fans had drums and chanting all game, SU had their usual support as well, the banter back and forth through the goals provided many giggles.
As expected SU were sharper moving the ball and some great one touch football at times But STG PL2 arn't as sharp but their ticker and home support lifted their performance no doubt about it......
I was listening to some supporters behind me saying this is big for the Club making it to R32, no doubt I agree.
Long time since their big heydays back in NSL.
In the end it was the fitness difference overall going ET, STG had their chances still but SU played some fast counters late and the finish's were spot on to kill STG off.
Rippa night as people have seen the updates - Lliden Sports Centre could hold games easily for the 2nd tier comp.
Love the Cup fellas.

D, Marconi and SU this season have been up and down.
Marconi have spent some dollars but it just isn't delivering as expected.
Both 15/16 points behind top Wolves.
They have recovered their season of late, SU now 5th Marconi 6th.

Good round up, LFC.

Marconi played awful football on Wednedsay night against South Hobart.

Marconi played awful football on Wednedsay night against South Hobart.

3-0, cobber. What do you expect when a Tasmanian team faces superior genetics?

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

I’m glad you enjoyed it mate, just feeds the appetite for what a national second division could look like.

The FFA Cup is a lot of fun, plenty of talent around the NPL that just need a chance to shine.

I’ve seen Marconi play better than that in the NPL if I’m honest, they got some good players in that team.

Mate, the long ball, high ball, second ball dross your team played is anathema to the style of football Australia is trying  to play in current times. It is simply awful to watch.

Given you had two former HAL players, Jesic and Mallia, you were woeful. Second ball, high ball, fight ball dross, that gets one nowhere in international football.

Tsekenis should quit coaching.

In recent times I've seen South Melb, Bentleigh Greens, APIA Leichardt, Sydney United and Brisbane Strikers play some contemporaneous football easy on the eye in this state.

Marconi was like going backwards in time to a different  epoch of British football in the 80s.

Also, Blacktown have paused some decent football on TV too, as have WA club Bayswater.

I'm sure Marconi have played better football in the past. What a disgrace to football the current manifestation of Marconi is!

When there was only 2.6k there? Bollocks. There is no way that KGV wouldn't be more appropriate for that sort of numbers.

All of these "comforts" at Bellerive that officials have been spruiking just shows that they have absolutely no idea about what cup games are supposed to be about. The only people who really want these venues are the fkn Suits.

With due respect, MT, have you been a spectator  at any of these venues?

At KGV many would not be able to view the football with 3 000 crowds.

Every team is entitled to play the way it sees fit, decentric. There is no rule that says that all have to adhere to your template of contemporaneous post modern dream football.

I think 3-0 speaks for itself.

Sorry but I agree with Decentric, it was by far the worse game to watch in FFA Cup history. A game in Tassie is always a joy and I was hoping the Tassie team would preform but no it was so bland and stale because of Marconi.

It probably was awful, and I'm not endorsing Marconi's style. I'm making the point that teams are not all obliged to play in a certain way. If they want to play kick and rush its up to them; they don't have to please armchair critics.

Nix are deff the underdog in this match, Wellington are just treating this game like a friendly so I doubt they will put out a strong starting 11.

I have some good news for you, Victor.

They play a game called aerial ping pong in your home town of Adelaide.

Port Adelaide and Adelaide Crows play a  brand of egg ball decidedly  superior to what Marconi play manifesting as association football.

You could take up a membership for aerial ping pong. You'd love it, Victor!

If Australia became world champs in association football playing the dross Marconi do, I wouldn't watch it.

4th in the QNPL but prob the strongest NPL side to face a A-League team this season. Bris Strikers are no Maitland.
