+x+x+x+xThought Mauk was excellent last night. He looked like the player we all hoped he would be when he signed. If he stays fit he will will be a key player for BR this season. I'm really not convinced by the back 3 with this squad. I suspect that we will ship a lot of goals if RF runs with it. agree on Mauk - MOTM vs SFC and again another good night What did you think of O'Shea's performance. I was underwhelmed. He didn’t have his best game - but I don’t think the midfield had it together Nothing more than an open discussion. The players are professionals who play the game for a paying audience. If they can't take scrutiny they should be doing something else.

+xPersonally I think people are overreacting slightly. Good thing is, most are discussing how we could/should have won it rather than how we blew it. I think the main point is that it is nice to be looking for how we can now take our game up a level to be competitive at the top rather than finding one or two players we thought pulled their weight this week. My call is we are doing great things already and will go great this season.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

I'm really not convinced by the back 3 with this squad. I suspect that we will ship a lot of goals if RF runs with it. The back 3 vs Brisbane City and again last night was exposed by pace - that’s difficult to deal with tbh but the fix is not 4 at the back but those central 3 midfielders keeping control over the Center of the park. I wouldn’t be panicking yet, 3 at the back is the way to go it’s just a question of can they make it work. I'm not sure you can say 3 at the back is the way to go..it's a favoured, by some, system at the present time in footballs evolution. Yes if you have the players, fine but if you don't you get exposed in those wide areas. And as someone else commented, that's where we had the problem on Neville's side. Personally I'm not a fan for a number of reasons, that I don't think I need to go into, you all understand I'm sure. But mainly for the reason that you do get exposed to easily and it just st encourages the opposition to exploit that area. Yes it can be a choice.....IF you got the players. Personally I like 4231. But it didn't suit my team this year either.

+xI know it's a competitive game. But I remember the preseason of our first championship watching the roar play CCM in a friendly. It was a draw I think the same scoreline. Everyone complained about similar things we are now. But what I saw was a side that worked together as a team. Knew the roles they played. There was something there to build on. Plus I thought the intensity and the speed we are playing at hasn't really been done in the league at sustainable level yet. So be interesting to see. Maybe I'm seeing to much positive out of the Sydney game. That gives me confidence that the roar can address these issues. But I'm probably a little more optimistic than my own good. At least we are not going to be watching dire football this season. I would agree with you!

The A League has been afflicted since Ange P by slow ball movement and it was great to see a BR team moving the ball quickly with crisp, quick passes. Sometimes Anges Roar used to bore me to tears with those endless languid side tones side passing movements. His Roos sides played the same way.

The english style is very very much to move the ball, with speed, from one end of the park to the other as quickly as possible.

I thought they were clearly second best for 80% of the game,no matter what spin the CCM supporters put on it

You can see Roars style of play now - conservative away to Sydney and more adventurous at home to Mariners. The results in either don’t change the realities. Roar will win win more than they will lose playing like that, and they’ll be tough to beat away from home which puts them towards the top end of the table. The glaring gap is second striker - Holloway needs to be playing again soon, or DWH

I thought they were clearly second best for 80% of the game,no matter what spin the CCM supporters put on it The other good thing is that they are passing the ball in space and expect the player to be there. That to me indication of the intent to play with speed. come start of season those passes are hitting the players. I'm looking forward with us playing at the speed we are showing for 90 minutes. I think teams are going to struggle. We just have to worry about fast attacks from the wings. But that is a tradeoff in many system. It's better than being torn apart through the centre I think the game was a wake up call for the team. They were not as intense compared to the SFC game. I think they thought it's just the CCM we killed SFC so we are fine. Oar and de Silva are very good players add the Korean bloke that's a solid midfield 3 that's going to hurt a lot of teams. I do have little concern on rod in the team. To me he has mostly been anonymous in the games I watch. To me dwh would be far better in this system. League was getting way to slow and defensive. So excited to see the roar being the speed.

Hopefully we have a couple of ready made replacements for ROD in DWH and Holloway. The big Archilles for me is Neville on the right. He's a solid back-up, but I'm not sure if he's a starter. Anyway, there have been enough good signs in the games against HAL opposition to feel positive about the season ahead.

I’m not sure Hingert will displace him now although looking at Pepper the other night he might.

Sadly we can’t even claim this result sets us up for the new season lol - although surely this result makes us favourites for the NYL 😂

I think the Academy continues to evolve. Sherman had fallen out with many NPL clubs so Moons appointment will at least fix that.

+xSo any feedback on the Perth game? Messaged with people who were there. By all accounts Roar youth were impressive. Glory had most of the chances but Roar had a good 6 or 7. Max in Goal pulled off a good double save at the end to keep it 1-0
