Thanks b . Been feeling down for the past month and since it was my dad's anniversary  on Friday i was a mess . Boss told all my co workers to leave me be and not put me under more stress as he knew about it  . Even the causal bit his tongue .  Hopefully the job I done a video interview  for comes thru. A fresh start is what I need

Update: the person I arranged to open the store on saturdays while the regular is away for 2 weeks got to work half an hour early yesterday morning, and busted said suspect in the store with her own cut key trying to steal stock.
Was a good reason to get woken up early for a change

New update:
Have seen said person trying to sell what appears to be stolen stock on Facebook. Had alerted upper management and police, only to receive a response from the police stating that because our CCTV isn’t working, we will need some other way to prove that she stole these items.

now, keep in mind, I alerted Loss Prevention (along with my store manager) to start investigating money missing in the safe 2 months ago while money was going missing, explicitly stating what time of day it was going to be happening, as well as who (and was right on both occasions), because loss prevention had told us that the CCTV was recording to their office. Now we know they were bullshitting and have lost $17k because they don’t want to work

ACT government has begun new concession this year where first homebuyers who earn under $160k p.a are exempt from stamp duty. However, there will be an increase in rates to make up for this.
My wife and I bought a townhouse last year, earn under the amount, but are forced to pay $10k stamp duty.
ACT goverment's response is, "Yes, it is a bit unfair to those who have already paid their stamp duty, but wouldn't you like to be able to see your children and grandchildren enter the housing market?"

So, in our case, we are going to get lumped with higher rates, and had to pay stamp duty. All because we bought our townhouse 13 months ago, instead of now.

ACT government has begun new concession this year where first homebuyers who earn under $160k p.a are exempt from stamp duty. However, there will be an increase in rates to make up for this.
My wife and I bought a townhouse last year, earn under the amount, but are forced to pay $10k stamp duty.
ACT goverment's response is, "Yes, it is a bit unfair to those who have already paid their stamp duty, but wouldn't you like to be able to see your children and grandchildren enter the housing market?"

So, in our case, we are going to get lumped with higher rates, and had to pay stamp duty. All because we bought our townhouse 13 months ago, instead of now. 

 Although that's a shit go that's nothing compared to what happened to a guy I work with. 

He bought a house only 5 minutes away from work and was loving it being so close. 1 month after he's already moved in our company signed a new lease at a site 30 minutes further out west. 

Not only was he spewing that he's far away from work again, but what's worse is he used to live 15 minutes away from where we are currently based and houses are about $150k cheaper here. 

Ended up being great for me now that I'm only 20 minutes from work, but I really feel bad for him.

That sucks, we had mates that got $40k first home buyers bonus years ago and at that stage geelong council were waivering rates to new home buyers, then by the time we got to buy our house 3 years ago... it was $10k and no rates waiver, they all got the baby bonus's as well, we were just a couple of years behind in everything and missed out on the baby bonus as well.

Fair enough but more people are more scared of public speaking than dying.  Which is completely illogical but true.

I don't like it and most people are in the same boat.

My point is that if you are afraid of something hiding away in a little box does nothing to help you overcome that fear.

If you have a deadly fear of snakes to overcome that they will do a step by step process to help you condition and moderate your fears.  First they'll show you a snake, then they'll let you hold a picture of a snake, then they'll show you a box with a snake in it, then they'll put the box near you and then on your lap and then you might touch it and then, maybe you might hold it in your hands.  You might be still afraid of snakes but your brain has rewired itself in incremental steps to moderate your response.

In other words allowing these kids an out every time they have a fear of anything creates a bunch of infantilised adults with undeveloped brains, no resilience and an aversion to risk and new experiences that will panic at the first episode of stress.

No wonder everyone is depressed and suffering from anxiety.
 

And said infantilised adults then want the government to play the role of surrogate parent, hold their hand every step of the way and ban anything or anybody who makes them feel bad- and are willing to sacrifice their personal freedoms and quality of life in exchange for this privilege. And of course the people in power are only too happy to oblige...

Sorry to hear but they should have a transitional period imo...

Anyway, stamp duty is an archaic tax which needs to go. Annualised land tax is what it should be.

Apologies in advance for the long post - I needed to give context.

Anyone want to give me some life advice?
41yo no responsibilities or debt; only rent and bills to pay.
Hate my current job: been there 7 months and realised pretty early that the manager had lied to me big time about the nature of the role. As I'll explain, that's a big issue for my health.
I have ADHD - wasnt diagnosed till I was 27 and went on to medication and into therapy and through therapy I realised I needed to change careers to a career that more suited my personality. I made the difficult move from public servant to sales about 8 years ago, working my way up from the shittiest jobs but I succeeded and in the right work environments I flourish (I have never failed to hit a quarterly target in the last 2 jobs I've had). Basically I normally find it very difficult to work in a cubicle so I purposely avoid jobs that involve cubicles.
I had 3 job offers before I took this job and the deciding factor for me was how much time I'd spend in the office. I told my current boss that was the deciding factor and she told me "you will be on the road as much as possible, that's why we are hiring you, for that skillset" while she was almost begging me to join her team.
I quickly realised there was a problem:  the internal systems were from the dark age (no CRM) and my boss expected the sales reps to do ridiculous amounts of tedious sales admin using very outdated techniques (i.e. cut and paste invoices). It meant a lot of time on admin and far less time selling or contacting customers - basically a sales support role. And my boss wanted all melbourne sales reps to work from the office no matter what (we have 2 interstate sales reps who can work from home). And I was placed in the very noisy and distracting cubicle next to the call centre. My boss was on leave for weeks 2 to 4 of my start but when she returned I sat her down and told her about my ADHD and why that working from that cubicle would ruin my performance.  She seemed supportive at the time and reassured me I'd be on the road at least 4 days a week soon enough. Fast forward 7 months, that turned out to be a lie (I'm stuck in the cubicle 4 days a week), my health is fading fast (I have headaches I can only stop with prescription painkillers), while I was easily the top performing salesperson in my first qtr I know I'm falling behind. I raise the cubicle issue nearly every week with my manager but she and doesnt care (she literally tells me to smile more often), my team hate me (because I'm miserable) and I have zero motivation. 
Last week I spoke to someone in HR about my ADHD issues and all my medical issues from being in the cubicle - trying to craft a positive plan to find me a more appropriate cubicle and a way to work with my manager about letting me work out of the office more. I told my boss that I spoke to HR and she seemed ok with it. But the next morning she started bullying me - publicly shaming emails, giving me time wasting pointless work etc. I had a really negative reaction to this and started to get very stressed. My doctors and specialists say that my health is being damaged and I need to leave very soon.
I've  been applying for other jobs recently and I'm making progress but its slow and I know its hard to do interviews when you are so depressed and stressed, especially for sales jobs.
A good caring friend of mine (a prominent forumite who I met through this forum) has outlined that I should take stress leave immediately and complain to HR about bullying. 
I dont need a reference from this company, I'm confident I can get a job without one. I can go a month or two without a job but I know thats it quite difficult to sell yourself to future bosses if you quit a job just after 7 months. Taking stress leave would allow me to get my mind back on track and buy me time to get another job. But if I take stress leave I know my boss will totally go after me to get me fired and the industry is small and she will likely bad mouth me. So I'm worried about getting fired and being unemployed.
I have not had any formal complaints from my boss, I'm performing well on the numbers, but I'm at breaking point. But I only have about 2 weeks of annual/personal leave left.

Does anyone here have any experience of going on stress leave? Did you regret it? If so, why? If you think it was the best thing to do, why?
And what would you do in my situation and why?

WGMG: 2 packages, both bound for just outside Geelong, one coming from Manchester, UK leaving last Wednesday (10th) the other leaving Sydney last tuesday (9th) via Express Post.

How have i managed to receive the package from the UK today but not the one from Sydney?

We aren't in an Express post area, so the Sydney one went express to geelong and got there wednesday but has just sat there since (going by tracking). So stupid. Auspost is pathetic.

WGMG: 2 packages, both bound for just outside Geelong, one coming from Manchester, UK leaving last Wednesday (10th) the other leaving Sydney last tuesday (9th) via Express Post.

How have i managed to receive the package from the UK today but not the one from Sydney?

We aren't in an Express post area, so the Sydney one went express to geelong and got there wednesday but has just sat there since (going by tracking). So stupid. Auspost is pathetic. 

Domestic one probably collecting dust somewhere until some lazy bugger moves it on. It's baffling.

Just got home from a 5 week trip and can't find 4 white coasters that are normally in the living room. We left the place fairly tidy and can't remember where we put them. Checked every corner of the room. Nothing.

How have i managed to receive the package from the UK today but not the one from Sydney?

We aren't in an Express post area, so the Sydney one went express to geelong and got there wednesday but has just sat there since (going by tracking). So stupid. Auspost is pathetic. 

Aus post are bad. But in saying that the package has probably been dispatched.  The driver probably did have it but they are swamped due to the fact the amount of online shopping people do. Plus aus post management  want more and more done by the drivers but wont give them more money since they're subbies

Leave immediately. You would be surprised how much better you’ll feel. Not worth hanging on at all.

Rather than taking the bullying angle it would be more appropriate to seek leave due to the stress caused by the job circumstances.

Given your history it shouldn’t be a problem for a doctor to grant you a significant rest from work to claim workers comp providing it’s genuine which by the sound of it, is. 

The overarching important thing however is to get that rest, now. Good luck.

I think if I got asked a question like that in an interview I'd walk out. What sort of organisation is this?

Wgmg: fractured my right ring finger at work
 Had one week off but silly me wanted to go back to work as it's just a finger but two weeks in my finger is swollen and sore . And that's just from doing the simple stuff

This particular company was an American engineering consultancy with ~90k employees.

The whole process is so contrived.

It gets worse though - as part of the assessment you're put into a group with a few other applicants and given a "task"  - some have been providing recommendations to a fake business based on a briefing document, some have been that game where you have to build the tallest possible standing structure with spaghetti and sticky tape. All the while, some HR person is observing how you act in a group and takes notes from the side of the room. Basically, the goal is to try and assess how you operate in the group, but it invariably just becomes unbelievably formal and contrived - "that's a great idea Jenny, but have you considered maybe doing ____?" or "I like what you did there Tom, however I think we should take ____ into account".

HR is like the modern art sect. They're in their own bubble and have inflated value. Amazingly there are people stupid enough to fund it. Don't get me wrong there are certainly some decent HR workers but the ones I've dealt with are an absolute pain. Never there when you need them and always there on trivial stuff.

WGMG: 43 people ejected from AFL grand final,  including at least 3 arrested for assaulting police. (Including toby greens dad) then multiple arrests on swan street for assaults, flares, arson and wilful damage. BUT they were described by police as generally WELL BEHAVED.
