NSW off to a blinder Jack Edwards 1st ball duck and Henriques lasted 3 deliveries for his duck.

I was impressed with Jack Edwards in a Shield game in Hobart last year, both batting and bowling.

It might have been a rare consistent game though.

I don't mind the look of Edwards as a FC all rounder, had a good U19 WC campaign, batted well in his List A games last year but followed it up with an ordinary year last year at shield level, but he's only young.

As I write NSW lose another Hughes for 7 now 3/13. Beautiful batting pitch at the AB field, must be the overcast conditions.

Walked away from the computer to make a cuppa, 2 more gone, Patterson really struggles against any movement and Nick Bertus following up his first good game with a poor defence to chop the ball onto the stumps. This game could be over by midday. Not really great bowling, poor batting

Mike must have given up what he usually does while a match is on and tuned in when he saw the Blues get off to a shocker. He is in his element now.. with the Blues imploding at 5 down after 10 on what looks a helpful track for the quicks. 

DC Edwards is another coming from pathway cricket into senior with a dodgy technique. Last year he was actually moving his back foot way to the on side to play his shots. A former player/comm. said he was astounded. I have watched him closely since and someone has had a word in his shelllike as the movement is no where near as pronounced as it was.

So far so good for Stanlake. 
He like most quicks with immature bone structure has had back stress fractures. I fear with his jumping action in his delivery stride that he is a candidate for further foot and knee injuries. If fit he is a big chance to make our WC T20 squad

No Baggers I went to the game Qld V NSW and also Qld V SA. So this is the first time I've watched the games on the net.

Lloyd Pope on now Baggers, playing his first List A game, hasn't done a great deal at FC level but have to keep reminding myself he has just turned 19, a lot to still learn

Are you saying he's not rated in NSW? I was wondering why he has played so little and is 27. Hasn't lived up to FC but he was excellent last year. Couple of 50's and a few wickets, I would have thought automatic selection for NSW one day team. But I do have a question on him is he eligible for NZ or Australia?

Baggers do yourself a favour and read this NSW article and place yourself in the shoes of some poor kid who may show talent yet his/her parents cannot afford to develop those skills, Meanwhile CA promote certain individuals, many in financial ways, many of whom come from families that can afford cricket (eg Austin Waugh or Will Sutherland). The system is failing so much so it has become an elitist sport here in Australia.

So when the highly promoted, by the media, CA, and even yourself, Jason Sangha fails to live up to expectations after all the leg ups and hand outs he has received during his development years, it isn't about Sangha himself it is about the wasted money in the CA program, money that would be better spent in the true grass root areas of the sport keeping some of these cricket clubs from folding, abolishing cricket playing fees. helping underprivileged kids get an opportunity. It's a sport that should be available to everyone, not just an elite few. My criticism isn't about Jason Sangha it's about the failing CA programs, which are now affecting us on an international level, CA cannot help themselves they just keep throwing money at an elite few so selectors have no option but to continue playing these elite few at an international level regardless of their performances.. CA cannot identify talent at an early age of 13-14 and then spend money on just those individuals whilst others give the sport away. When Jason Sangha fails it is a good thing for the juniors, maybe CA may start putting money back into the grass roots, because what they're doing now is destroying cricket. Jason Sangha has never dominated Under age championships, rarely made the top 5 batsmen at these championships, yet still received promotion, including the captaincy of the U19 youth team when he was lucky to be selected in the first place, if selection was to be based on on field performance (8th in runs scored 9th in averages). He wasn't alone there are others that seem to have disappear from the cricket scene. But don't hold your breath whilst waiting for CA to wake up to the true problem.

Mike we have already had this conversation. I dont give a fig where our best young cricketers come from. If some, due to socio- economic aspects are not getting into the pathway then CA is lacking in its responsibility.

This is something I have been banging on about forever.. our best youngsters are coming into red ball cricket with a white ball mentality and no solid technique. How the hell are they expected to slip seamlessly into a format almost foreign to them because of the lack of red ball coaching and playing during their pathway years. 

I recall you pushing the case for Nathan McSweeney a while back. Well Mike while you are rubbishing Sangha your beloved Qlander was 24 places below Sangha in the 2015/16 U19 rankings and 14 places the following year. Sangha improved markedly every year of the three as a U19 rep. I know who my money is on to play Test cricket for Australia first out of the two..

Nathan McSweeney is exactly where Nathan McSweeney should be, playing Futures along with players like Corey Hunter. Scoring runs like they should be, developing their games, not being promoted prematurely to appease the powers that be, how many ducks last year for Sangha? He's not ready and it is quite dangerous for him as we all saw last year he can't play short stuff. That's all we need another Philip Hughes tragedy.

Just for you Baggers here is a recent game for McSweeney and Hunter, in Futures, look at the bowling attack for Tasmania, I'd say performing quite well currently, but I have never ever said either will ever play for Australia, born on the wrong side of the border for that to ever happen. They're just players trying to get a career and in all likelihood just get the step up to FC level, not too many places there currently for Qld, but I would say both are nearly first in line now if a place should open.
